About the Axxess LC-GMRC-LAN-01 Wiring Interface

Bob Bihlmayer
Problem: Installing an aftermarket receiver in many late model GM vehicles means losing the chime that warns the door is open, along with audible safety warnings.

Problem: Installing an aftermarket receiver in many late model GM vehicles means losing the chime that warns the door is open, along with audible safety warnings.

Solution: Axxess' LC-GMRC-LAN-01 GM Data Bus Interface lets you replace the factory receiver in these vehicles and keep the door chime and all audible safety warnings.

Wire up the LC-GMRC-LAN-01 to your aftermarket radio, mount the module in a location where the chime can be heard, and plug it into the existing factory plug. Get the great sound you want, and keep all important safety features intact. The interface also provides a switched 12-volt power source for your new radio, and retains the use of GM's Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.) feature. The LC-GMRC-LAN-01 does not retain OnStar and it's designed for non-amplified factory systems or systems in which the factory amp has been bypassed.  Warranty: 1 year.

Important Note: This LC-GMRC-LAN-01 interface allows you to keep your factory door chime (needed to keep audible safety warnings functioning). If you do not use a compatible adapter when you replace your factory radio, you will disable the audible warning system in your vehicle. Crutchfield cannot provide a free wiring harness for your vehicle, and we strongly recommend that you use this interface when replacing this vehicle's factory radio. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.

Retained Features: The LC-GMRC-LAN-01 provides +12V/3A accessory output, retains warning chimes, and retains R.A.P. (retained accessory power).

  • +12V Accessory Output: In many GM vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. The LC-GMRC-LAN-01 is designed to provide a 12V/3A switched accessory output (red wire).
  • Retained Accessory Power (R.A.P.):  The ignition power source of most GM vehicles keeps the radio on until one of the doors is opened. This feature is called the R.A.P. (retained accessory power). The LC-GMRC-LAN-01 is designed to retain this feature.
  • Warning Chimes: The LC-GMRC-LAN-01 retains factory warning chimes through the use of an on-board speaker.
Note: This interface will not retain OnStar.

Navigation Outputs: In addition, the LC-GMRC-LAN-01 provides navigation outputs (VSS, Parking Brake, and Reverse) to help ease the installation process of an aftermarket navigation radio.

Q
Does this keep the rear park assist? I'm assuming that's what the usb plug in the back of the factory radio was for because my new radio doesn't have the USB port and I lost my parking assist.
dave  Mar 01, 2024

A
Greetings Dave. Thank you for your question. This interface would not keep parking assist. It will keep warning chimes like lights on, doors open etc. I would need to look at the vehicle to see if we have anything that can keep that park assist function.

Will this work for my 2007 chevy impala? Trying to hook up a aftermarket radio.
tristen  Jun 22, 2022

A
Greetings Tristen, and thank you for your question. That Axxess interface is compatible with the 2007 Impala without the Bose audio system. If your Impala has the Bose system, you need a different adapter.

Q
Does it retain steering wheel controls for a 2006 Chevy impala?
sickness1757  Apr 10, 2022
1 answer
A
No you will have to order the kit that comes with the module for the steering wheel controls. This only allows for your door alarm and warning buzzers to be played through the speakers like your factory head unit would do.

2014 Silverado 2500 WT 6.0 gas? No navigation simple plain radio to aftermarket?

A
I have a 2014 Chevy impala. This harness is best for simply hooking up your aftermarket radio to your oem system. It has wires that connect to the speakers, antenna and the warning speaker that comes with it. Very easy install. Nothing fancy but works great.

Q
I have an 08 silverado I was trying to hook up my sub to and need to know if this will let me keep my steering wheel buttons like the volume and arrows to switch stations. Will this work or not? If not, what could I use to keep factory radio?
hannah  Dec 22, 2020

A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
I have a 08 Sierra with no Bose and no steering controls. Do I need to do anything special regarding wiring the factory amp to the harness?
nicholas  Sep 26, 2019
1 answer
A
If you don't have the Bose system you don't have a factory amp you need to worry about - the new radio will power the speakers. You might need some wire connectors like these Posi-products connectors to complete the installation: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/p_669PP500/Posi-Products-Car-Stereo-Wiring-Harness-Connectors.html

Q
I purchased this product (Metra LC-GMRC-LAN-01 Wiring Interface) to hook up an old head unit (JVC KW-XR610) in my truck. I was wondering, if I were to get a new head unit, what other head units would this product fit so that I don't have to buy all new installation gear?
madison  Mar 31, 2018
1 answer
A
The harness is specific to the vehicles it's recommended for use in; not any specific aftermarket stereo models. You'll connect the leads of the Metra harness to the corresponding leads of any aftermarket stereo's harness (packaged with the aftermarket stereo). For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
