Don't Over Torque the Hex Screw

Kyle from OXNARD, CA on 6/2/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Works as advertised and great price. Just beware of over-torquing the hex key when tightening the power wire as I stripped the head and now cannot remove the power cable. Luckily it happened during final install.

Pros: Inexpensive, doesn't stick out in the engine bay

Cons: Set screws strip because I have no restraint.

Solid fuse holder

Tony from San Bruno, CA on 6/1/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Great solid product, good material, right sizes, no installation guide, I was not able to tighten 1 hex screw after insert the fuse, called tech support still can't figure out, called manufacture...waited 1 hours on hold for the tech support, turn out the "black" o-ring on the metal piece need to remove in order to push fuse through the clear plastic housing to tighten the screw. "Duh"! Overall...this is a good solid fuse holder!

Pros: Price, good material, size.

Cons: No installation guide.

waterproof manl fuse holder

Crutchfield customer from Columbus, MT on 3/19/2020

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

simple inexpensive MANL fuse holder. It's a little bit of a pain to get to the fuse though if ever need to change it out as you have to completely disconnect one end to push out the fuse to get to the securing screws

Pros: inexpensive, easy to install, waterproof (this has been untested as of yet but installed in an area that will get we so will report back)

Cons: can't really see through the plastic to determine if fuse is broke or not. And it's cumbersome to get to fuse securing screws. Once in place it's fine but can foresee a pain to change it out or even view to see if it's blown

Enclosed fuse holder may be hard to check and replace fuses

Crutchfield customer from Livermore, CA on 8/8/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The fuse holder has threaded end caps with rubber seals. The wire apertures have rubber inserts to seal the wire entry. It wasn't clear if they were only to be used as strain relief for 8Ga wire, of if they were intended to seal 4-8Ga wire. They are stretched pretty tightly on 4ga wire. I get the feeling they aren't meant to be a seal at all which is a big silly since the screw caps have seals. Installation is a bit of a pain and you have to slide the wire back and forth to tighten the screws on the fuse. Also you can't see the fuse inside the holder to see if it's blown. I hope it's never a problem.

Pros: Accepts bare wire

Cons: Hard to assemble. Can't visually inspect fuse

Good at first but seals failed quickly

Randy from Portland Oregon on 12/19/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This exact fuse holder came with my T spec wiring kit. I installed it about 2 years ago and recently started having power issues. The seals on the fuse holder had rotted away and allowed moisture to get in. One side of the wire was so corroded the copper turned to dust when I disconnected it. Had to cut off a lot of wire before I got to good copper.

Pros: MANL fuse has a good connection, cheap, easy to install.

Cons: Doesn't hold up, O rings and gaskets wear out quickly.

Fairly well built product. However, one of the screws fell out within 2 months, causing the fuse to have a poor connection. I had to replace the product.

Pros: Water-sealed, good protection for fuse

Cons: Screws become loose over time

Solid and protected from elements once assembled.

Mitchell from Milwaukee, WI on 5/15/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

It's not as complicated as other make it out to bad and it does seem solid and protected from the elements once done. Put some thought into how it works and how you'll assemble it back together before you start and you won't have a problem - make sure you remember to slide the end caps over the one side of your wire before you start screwing the wire in so you can slide it back and screw it on to the main assembly. Docked a star because, I just found out with this and one of the the T-Spec distribution blocks, I'm not fond of the mini-ANL fuses and the design/usability of this fuse holder in general. It won't be as easy to replace the fuse if needed compared to others I've seen and used. Blade fuses, like a maxi fuse holder, would be much easier and faster to install.

T-SPEC V6-MANL Fuse Holder

Michael from Seattle, WA on 4/29/2017

Great fuse holder. Don't be fooled by the negative reviews because people can't figure something out on their own. Remove the rubber o-ring on one side to be able to attach your MANL fuse to this.

Pros: Nice design Clean look

Cons: For those unable to spend five minutes diagnosing or searching this will flummox the average Joe.

Impressed!

Ellis B. from Winthrop Harbor, IL on 3/15/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Great quality! Fuse was very simple to install - despite what other reviews state. Two o-rings hold the piece(s) that retains the fuse itself within the holder. Remove one of these o-rings, install the fuse, then push the piece (with the fuse bolted into place!) through the holder, then roll the removed o-ring back into place. Boom. Done. I'd definitely recommend this product. Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Compact, Easy to use, Good looking

Cons: The plastic holder seems as if it may become brittle over the years, but if you're careful, this shouldn't be an issue.

Crutchfield customer from New Bern, NC on 3/3/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Too much "taking things apart" in order to make it work. I had to remove the "o ring" gasket in order to be able to get my power wire through and to be able to tighten the screws for the fuse and to then screw the fuse holder back together. It was not as simple as something like that should be.

Solid connection , water tight as well, easy to install. The fuse is held by two screws, one on each end of it, you need to strip your power wire 5/16" for a perfect fit inside the connector . Not a cheap looking product. Highly recommended.

Pros: Safe, easy to install.

Cons: None

Worst Fuse Holder I've Purchased

RonB from orange park, FL on 2/6/2016

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Poorly designed product. You cannot simply install or remove the fuse. When installing the mini ANL it is easy to bend or break the thin wire. It require more work to install a fuse than I care to explain. I've used many others priced the same which were much, much better.

Pros: In the end, it works.

Cons: Poor design. Difficult to install fuses.

great quality fuse holder

fatkid71 from Texas on 8/14/2015

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I have probably used at least 75-80 of these in various installs from auto to marine, even a few other odd 12 volt applications. A great mid-level fuse holder that works extremely well. Not one failure yet. Just a side note to the poor ratings on this product. If you can not figure out how to assemble this simple fuse holder you are in over your head, go to a professional to have your amps installed. You simply roll back one of the o-rings to let the entire assembly slide through the housing , fasten the fuse, replace the o-ring, replace the end cap. No product deserves a bad rating due to user ignorance.

Pros: great price , good quality

Cons: may not fit in tight , cramped areas. This is pretty rare, though

Really?

Jones from Chicago, IL on 10/22/2014

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

It's not possible to fasten both screws that hold the fuse in place. The housing is one solid piece and does not allow access to the screws that tighten the hold on the fuse. This thing is a colossal pile of junk.

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: - No instructions - It's not possible to secure the fuse between both connections. One connection can not be tightened down due to the fact that the housing is one solid piece. - Rubber seals on either end of the removable housing caps fall out of place constantly.
