Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing & measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers; both stand-alone amps and those built into head units. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), at the stated frequency range for the amplifier (20 Hz to 240 Hz in this case). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. The Pioneer GM-7400M under CEA-2006 regulations is rated at 200 watts RMS x 1 channel with a 72 dBA signal-to-noise ratio. Also following CEA-2006 guidelines, the 2Ω power rating is 400 watts RMS @50 Hz.

Class D Amplifier: The GM-D7500M is a Class D Digital amplifier, which provides higher output power in a smaller package than a traditional analog amplifier. This Class D amp has a very efficient power supply, turning a lower percentage of the power into heat and more into the actual load. The amp's PWM (pulse-width modulator) modulates the original audio input signal with a triangulated signal wave which has a much higher fixed frequency. The resulting digital signal contains both the input signal and a band of frequency components around the modulation frequency. The Low Pass Filter (LPF) filters out the high frequency pulses, leaving the amplified output signal to be sent to the speakers.

2-Ohm Stable: The Pioneer mono amplifier is capable of handling load impedances down to 2Ω. The amplifier is rated at 400 watts RMS x 1 channel into 2Ω with <1% THD+N.

Controls

Low-Pass Filter (LPF): The amplifier's internal low-pass filter is continuously variable from 40 to 240Hz with a slope of 12dB/octave. The filter can be turned on or off using a two-way switch.

Bass Boost: For added low frequency performance, this amplifier has a bass boost circuit centered at 50 Hz. The amount of boost is selectable at 0 dB, +6 dB, and +12 dB using a three-way switch.

Connections

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are screw terminals that will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on set screw terminal will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A slotted or Phillips head screwdriver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Level Input: A speaker level-to-RCA adapter is included, allowing you to splice your radio's speaker wires to the adapter, then plug it into the RCA inputs on the amp. The amplifier automatically detects the type of signal being input, therefore, there is no input switch to set. In many cases, the amplifier will automatically turn on when a speaker-level input signal is detected, and will turn on or off when the head unit is turned on or off. In cases where the amplifier does not turn on automatically, the system remote control wire should be connected to the amp to turn it on and off.

Input Sensitivity: The amp will accept RCA input signals between 200mV and 6.5V, and a speaker-level input signal between 0.8V and 10V.

Speaker Connections: The speaker output terminals are also screw terminals, and will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A slotted or Phillips head screwdriver is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.
