JL Audio Built In USA Great bass on your boat

The MX10IB3-SCR 10" marine subwoofer reflects JL Audio's commitment to top-quality engineering and sound quality. The sparkling chrome/black finish and "Sport Grille" design make it a perfect match for many boat interiors.

Built for life on the water

Built from the ground up for the marine environment, the MX10IB3-SCR sports a corrosion-resistant Centrex® polymer basket that surrounds the sub's internal structure for extra protection. The marine-grade synthetic fiber spider, injection-molded polypropylene cone, and synthetic rubber surround provide top performance, while shrugging off the harmful effects of sun, salt, and moisture.

The chrome-plated grilles look terrific, of course, but they're also durable enough to survive in harsh marine environments. That's because the plastic grilles are carefully prepped, then coated with four layers of metal substrate before the chrome finish is applied. The result is a deep, rich finish that's made to last.

Designed for a variety of enclosures

The subwoofer's motor structure allows extended cone movement, so you'll hear bass that's loud and low, yet precise and smooth. The versatile MX10IB3-SCR works in sealed enclosures, but it also works well in free-air applications, so you can mount it directly into a bulkhead if there's no space for a box.

Product Research

Features

Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine subwoofers go through ultraviolet testing chambers (to simulate years of sun exposure) and salt fog chambers (to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments) and are built to withstand the rigors of marine use.

Woofer: The subwoofer features an injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a synthetic rubber surround specifically formulated for marine use.

DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): JL Audio's proprietary Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) technology results in ultra-linear motor force over a long range of excursion and a wide range of power inputs to reduce distortion and improve sound quality.

Infinite-Baffle Operation: The M10IB3 is optimized for infinite-baffle operation so that it can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure.

Polymer Basket And Grille: The polymer basket and grille are corrosion and UV-resistant, and the basket encapsulates the motor assembly to prevent corrosion.

Connections: The speaker terminals are 0.25" wide gold-plated, marine-grade brass, male quick slide connections.

Mounting Hardware: Marine-grade stainless-steel mounting screws and washers are included.

Box Type: If mounting in an enclosure, JL Audio recommends a 2.5 ft³ sealed box (2.0 ft³ minimum). The M10IB3 should not be mounted in a ported enclosure.

Grille: The woofer is shipped with the grille attached (using three screws). The grille can be removed, but the woofer can be installed without removing the grille. If the woofer is mounted without the grille, several measurements are different:

  • Mounting Height: changes from 1.6" to 0.791"
  • Flange Height: changes from 1.125" to 0.5"
  • Frame Diameter: changes from 10.76" to 10.382"

Customer Q&A

Q
I have a M600/1 amp and 1 mx101b3 sub, can this amp handle a second sub and should they be wired parallel?

A
Hey Mike, I just bought two of these subs and the I use the same amp in my 23 foot Commander. I wired the subs parallel and they rock! I'm using an Alpine head unit with the bass engine and I do not regret getting the 10" instead of the 12". FYI, I did not build a box. They are fine open.
[ blaze  Apr 15, 2020 ]
A
We typically do not recommend this amp for those subwoofers because the amp outputs more power than the subwoofers need. However, that does mean the amp is capable of powering two of those subwoofers and wiring them in parallel is the method to use. Just make sure you can adjust the amp so it outputs around 350 watts RMS at 2 ohms

Does the speaker need to be minted in a box?

Hi Will, thank you for your question! The JL Audio MX10IB3 works in sealed enclosures, but it also works well in free-air applications, so you can mount it directly into a bulkhead if you don't have the space for a box.
