Works, but...

Works, but with some caveats. The instructions are apparently for an older design. There is no trim ring included in kit, nor is it possible to install the trim ring included with radio. It is not possible to use with the Alpine "sleeve" as the opening is not large enough for the sleeve. In fact the opening is not even large enough for the radio w/o sleeve to be installed from the front. Once side brackets are in place, radio needs to be mounted into kit from rear and slid until it contacts mounting panel. Then attach radio to side brackets with screws. The screws included with radio may be too short because the side brackets are thick. Bezel/trim ring included with radio can not be installed as the front mounting points are completely covered by the aforementioned small mounting panel opening.

great fit and added storage

Fits great and it has a storage slot/compartment at the bottom for cell phone ect. Nice addition. The original radio face plate had buttons all over which took up all the space, the new one has the opening for the radio and a convenient compartment.

Not impressed with the installation kit.. It fits okay, but is made of flimsy plastic and lets the radio move around. It doesn't fit squarely in the dash, not impressed at all.

poor solution for a 4x4

The plastic brackets aren't suitable for a 4x4 bouncing down the trail. I took the OEM metal brackets, added plates, and redrilled holes so the metal bracket tabs lined up with the upper plastic tabs on this kit. That centered the receiver in the bezel. Then the removable bezel needed to be trimmed on the bottom and side to allow for the removable receiver faceplate. It'd be better if the kit included metal brackets that mimic the OEM part, but work with this plastic trim and pocket. Unsupported DIN mounts and plastic brackets aren't for 4x4s.

Its just OK, not great.

used this with a sony flip down that went into my Toyota FJ. Install was easy but the kit has a cheap look and feel and the attachments to the dash and radio are all plastic. BE AWARE: this kit may prevent your flip down H/U from going all the way down. this was the problem on my sony. I'm currently looking for a better looking and more sturdy solution.
