Works well

Tool works fine. Thin enough to get behind window cranks to easily release the clips. Be careful, clips can fly off! This tool is for releasing clips and pins, not prying with (not sure why other reviews say it's flimsy).

It did it's job but the construction is pretty poor. If it were made of a rigid plastic it would've gotten a better review from me, the cheap metal bends out of shape very easily.

Looking for the perfect tool...

The tool is rather soft. The metal bends easy so you have to take your time. Nonetheless, it got the job done. Might be better purchasing at the local auto parts store.

Pros: It gets the job done.

Cons: The metal is really soft and it bends easily.

Worst tool I've ever used!

The first thing this "tool" did was bend and cut my thumb when I tried to use it. As a tool that is made to force trim pins, it Should Not Bend!

Pros: There are none.

Cons: Read my review.

Product worked better than anticipated. Worked great on removing the retaining clip on the window handle and removing the door panels with the clips. Sure beats using a screwdriver and needlenose pliers.

Pros: Ease of use.

Cons: None at this time.

Waste of money!

KT from Las Vegas, NV on 4/25/2012

Did a radio/speaker install on my F-150 and the Crutchfield salesman talked me into buying this tool to "assist" with the install. Well, it was basically useless for my vehicle, and the metal it was made out of was so soft, it bent every time I tried to use it for prying a panel off. Save your money and use a small screwdriver, just be careful not to mare the finish.

Pros: None!

Cons: Useless on an F-150!

This tool is terrible!!! It's quality is lacking. It is flimsy and bends and will definately not work for panel clips. The only think that it is good for is removing window cranks, but so does a cotton rag!!!

You Want This

alanhawaii from Hilo, HI on 5/18/2009

For this price you want to get this tool. Getting the clip behind the window crank handle off can be a frustrating job when changing the front door speakers. This tool will pop it right off. The only time it doesn't work is when some idiot has put the clip on backwards. When this happens the clip must be pushed back away from the crank handle and the tool won't fit under handle to do this. This happened on one of my doors and I had to use to tool to pry some space so I could hook the clip with a wire and pull it out. The same tool works on Chrysler, Ford, and some GMs.

Prying Tool not worth the money

Richard from Atlanta, GA on 2/20/2009

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Didn't work on the window crank nearly as well as the shoprag did. Was somewhat useful for prying door panels, but why do I need a special prying tool with a box full of screwdrivers, chisels, scrapers, etc? Quit recommending it.

This makes it very easy to remove window cranks. However, even this tool is a bit thick and can get stuck in the slot for the clip, which requires force to get out. It does fit between the door panel and crank MUCH more easily than a shop towel does, though (as Crutchfield suggests using). That's about the only thing to gripe about.

It does scratch

Sammy from Waukesha, WI on 12/1/2006

Like the other reviews said, it does scratch plastic panels. It does work however, and especially with cars that are built with not much room between the panel and the window roller handle, it's nice to have thin steel to get in there. I just did door speakers in an 03 Cavi, and whoa, the first clip shot off the handle right into my friend. Thank God too, otherwise it would have launched into the yard somewhere. That said, be sure to keep things under control.

Don't Waste Your Money....Use A Shop Towel

odellk from Apopka, FL on 2/6/2006

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I bought this, thinking I would be doing the speakers in my doors and my husband's doors. They said you wouldn't scratch trim and it would be a lot easier to use this tool on the website. In the instructions for removing the door panel from the Crutchfield Master Sheet said to use a shop rag. After fighting with the tool for 10 minutes and scratching the plastic near the window handle, I got a shop towel off the shelf and had the clip out in 10 secs. I kept the tool because I chose to buy it....but really.......save yourself the 5 or 10 bucks and use a towel like the instructions say. [Editor's note: While some instructions may recommend using a shop rag, instructions for most vehicles recommend using this tool. If in doubt, please check with a Crutchfield Sales Advisor.]
