A match made in heaven...or Oklahoma

Kicker's 48DCWR122 loaded enclosure puts a thumping 12" CompR sub behind your music. The rugged ported box was designed specifically for the sub, so you can count on getting maximum performance, no matter what kind of tunes you enjoy.

Hard-hitting CompR sub

The 12” CompR subwoofer features a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofer plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. The sub uses extensive venting in its heavy steel basket to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Heavy-duty enclosure

Sturdy MDF construction ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure, and the specially designed front-facing port enhances bass production without getting sloppy. The enclosure's 2-ohm impedance draws maximum power from your mono amplifier. This Kicker will handle up to 500 watts RMS, so make sure you pick an amp that'll make that CompR sub happy.

Product Research

Features

Woofers: The Kicker 48VCWR122 enclosure uses one 12" CompR series subwoofer. The Kicker subwoofer features a polypropylene cone with a Santoprene surround. The surround and cone are attached using Kicker's signature red double stitching, providing an outstanding bond.

Enclosure: The ported enclosure is made of heavy-duty MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with extensive internal bracing, providing exceptional acoustic efficiency and deep powerful bass. The enclosure is covered in sleek black carpeting for added protection and a refined look.

Forced Air Cooling: Kicker uses their SoloKon technology to join the cone to the vented back brace, creating a single integrated unit. This forces air through the motor assembly allowing it to run 25% cooler and helping eliminate distortion.

Speaker Terminals: A single pair of spring posts are mounted on the back of the enclosure (toward the right side) and will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power: The single 2Ω CompR subwoofer can handle up to 500W RMS (1000W peak).

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompR speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. Once broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Q
Can I run this with a kicker 800.1 amp ?
paulie  Mar 03, 2022
2 answers
A
The amp is rated for 500 continous I have a 600 watt amp but the gain is turned down low. If the amp will allow for the gain to be lowered it could work but if you crank the gain all the way over time the speaker will blow. The bass is loud so I advise to have amps and speakers on the tweeters and mid ranges or all you will hear is bass. I only have 1 in a 4runner and it is very loud

Yes I'm sure. At 2 ohms, 800.1 kicker amp will put our 600 watts max. My son has this hooked to an Alpine S-A60M with gain only at 1/4 and this thing slams hard!! Sounds better than my kicker 12" L7T in my truck

Q
Will an Alpine MRV-M500 be a good amp to pair with this sub box?
daniel  Jan 21, 2022

A
I believe it should be enough power. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Alpine Mrv-m500 is 500watts rms and the Kicker sub handles up to 600 rms!!

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp/sub combo I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Is the sub itself a 2ohm dvc or 2ohm svc? Can it be wired inside the enclosure to a final 1ohm impedance?
jose  Jan 04, 2022
1 answer
A
The CompR subs are dual voice coil models. This one is the DVC 4 ohm version of it. It cannot be rewired to a 1 ohm load. The choices are 2 ohms as it is now or 8 ohms if rewired. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to get a personal recommendation on a subwoofer that will work
