About the Kicker 43CWR122

Overbuilt? More like built just right

Kicker designed their CompR subs for people who love to hear strong bass in their music. The CompR 43CWR122 12” subwoofer comes equipped with a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofer plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. This sub uses extensive venting in its heavy steel basket to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Product Research

Features

Dual Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 2Ω voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Sealed Enclosures: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures from 1.0 ft³ to 2.0 ft³.

Vented Enclosures: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12-1/2" x 3" x 20-1/2" slot port

Note: Although some are smaller than optimal, the prefabricated enclosures we list on the accessory page produce good results.

Customer Q&A

Q
Could I pair this with th 40cwr122? If so how?
[ Edward  Apr 29, 2020 ]

A
These two subwoofers can be wired together to be powered by the same amp. Just need to make sure that you are using a subwoofer box type that also matches the needs of the new sub. As for how to wire them, our technical support can help as part of the lifetime technical support we give with purchases. You can also find diagrams on how to connect them to various amps here: https://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html

Q
Will this sub work for a sealed box with.95 cubic feet of air? I see it says 1-2 cubic feet.

I'm not sure. Just follow the recommendation for the subwoofer in the spec sheet and purchase a box from Crutchfield within the speakers parameters for a sealed box

You have no problems with a .05 or difference. I work this sub on a Sound Ordance ported box of 1.6 cf (specs say 1.75cf) and works fine, 500 full rms and hit very hard. I love this sub.
