About the Kicker 44KSC6704

Bring on the smoothness

I love a perfectly crafted pop song, and if I had to pick a pair of affordable car speakers to handle those harmonies and pristine production, Kicker's KS Series speakers would be a great choice. Their 44KSC6704 speakers feature a big 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer with a powerful magnet, giving you a natural sound with plenty of punch in the lower frequencies. And the 3/4" silk dome tweeter delivers every ounce of smoothness you'd want in your music's vocal and instrumental details. All told, your favorite music will gain a level of dimension that factory speakers just can't manage.

I am very impressed with the 44KSC6704's. Very good bass for a 6 3/4" speaker and the highs are awesome as well. I asked a Crutchfield tech ' how can I put the most bass in a 6 3/4 space"and he recommended the Kicker 44K's. I wish I would have put them in my front doors too. It came with everything needed for installation and was an easy install. Thanks again Crutchfield.

I think the speakers really produce vibrant sound. I have to agree witha previous review that they aren't very bass productive. But I have a powerbass option in my car so it works out good for me. I would recommend these as replacements for factory stock speakers definitely.

Great highs and mids that don't muddy or distort - 2016 Honda CR

Jordan from Madison, WI on 10/5/2018

2016 Honda CRV

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The reason I chose these over the Kicker 43 series is the silk tweeter and the reviews that said that the mids aren't compromised at high volumes. The highs sound really smooth and the mids/higher bass are pretty powerful and get extremely loud without becoming distorted even on the stock amp/head unit I'm currently using. These speakers lack a low end, which is to be expected, but I was blown away by how well it reproduced some higher bass sounds. Don't buy these thinking they're even close to a substitute for a sub, but they do an excellent job for what they're built for.

Pros: smooth silk tweeter sounds great can be cranked without distortion easy to install

Cons: Can't produce low end bass sounds that dedicated subs can (albeit with a stock head unit/amp)

Great Bass Response

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Ordered this like 3-4 weeks ago, and i'm not disappointed. I had to have a few chats with crutchfield specialists before i made the purchase. I got em for my 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid rear deck, and the difference is night & day compared to what I had back there before. I had my doubts. But these speakers gave me the bass response I was looking for. I wanted something that can handle more low end without bottoming out at higher volumes... I can't wait to replace the RF prime 6.5" components in the front with the component version of these.. All are being powered by a RF Prime R250x4

Pros: Nice bass response. Mids sound more natural. The highs are smoother and more natural.

Cons: None so far

Base is pretty powerful but will breakup at high volumes. Speakers came with a set of adapters for installation. All products should have a statement that says it fits with modification. Had to go to a competitor to buy the Kicker sub system I wanted, wasn't carried by Crutchfield. Also had to go to another place to get the speaker interconnects so I wouldn't have to cut and splice wiring.

Installed on a 2018 Silverado 1500 Double Cab. I used 2 sets of these speakers, so all the doors are this same speaker. It does have quite a bit of base. I have them set with my amp via the DMM method and right now about <120Hz are dropped and I may change that later. Does have plenty of sound, no distortion, plenty of bass.

Pros: Round Speaker, Matched my Amp well.

Cons: None So Far

I installed 4 of these to replace the stock speakers in my 2012 Civic. Great speakers; just feel like they're missing something. Perhaps an amp. Just can't put my finger on it. I preferred the Infinity slightly more but it's a close call. Decent amount of bass for an unpowered 6 3/4" speaker when I cut my sub off. Highs/Mids perform very well. But again, I feel the Infinity performed better in the high range.

Pros: Midrange

Cons: High range

Crisp and clear sound

Crutchfield customer from Beloit, WI on 5/8/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I upgraded my 2017 Civic with Kicker 43CSS674 in the front and these coaxials in the rear doors, and the clarity is amazing. Even at loud volumes with the stock head unit, they sound super crisp and clear. Only issue is not much bass at all, but that's what a subwoofer is for. Also will upgrade the head unit with a Kenwood, can't wait to see what it all sounds like when finished. Used to have sound garble together with the stock speakers at somewhat higher volumes, now i get none of that.

Pros: mids and highs, great at higher volumes

Cons: bass

Installed these in the rear doors of my 2016 WRX with some slight modifications required - as stated before purchasing. Vast improvement in music quality and clarity at a reasonable price. With a factory head unit I would recommend powering any/all speakers with an amp that meets the needs of your upgrades to maximize your audio experience.

Pros: High quality, easy install, far better highs to lows

Cons: None yet

Bass almost nonexistent even compared to stock units

Nick from Denver, CO on 3/17/2018

2005 GMC Canyon

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Perhaps I was expecting too much, but after installing these speakers in my 2005 GMC Canyon I decided to stick with the stock units which aren't very great to begin with. While the Kickers were far more crisp and tight in the mids to highs, the bass was simply nonexistent. Tracks such as Simply Three's rendition of "Take Me To Church" sounded phenomenal during the violin portions, but I could hardly tell that a bass was even being played. Zeds Dead remix of Eyes on Fire simply fell flat as all of the lower frequencies were robbed from the song. I should note I only replaced the fronts while leaving my rears stock while testing these. Ultimately you have fantastic speakers which just give everything a "cold" but controlled sound. Paired with a sub they would likely shine, but for me, without a sub, they lack the "fullness" my stock speakers provided.

Pros: Crisp, controlled and clear mids to highs. I can pick out every instrument in a symphony if it's not a bass or lower notes on a cello.

Cons: Bass is almost nonexistent. Most songs sound "cold" while bass heavy tracks simply lose all of their character.

I haven't installed these yet, but I currently use the Kicker KSC 3.5, Kicker KSC 5-1/4, and Kicker KSC 6x9 coaxial speakers in my other car, and they sound GREAT! I am completely satisfied with this brand. I can hardly wait to get my new one's installed, and amped up.

Pros: Good quality sound. Good value.

Cons: I was directed to use my car's factory speaker grilles. Unfortunately, the Kicker grilles went to waste.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Replaced the front door 6x9's and rear door 6 1/2's with this Kicker series using adapter rings from Crutchfield. Selected these because of the 4ohm requirement to match the factory system, that I could match brand/series for the rear "D" pillar speakers (Kicker 44KCS3504) and front door upper tweeter (Kicker 43CST20). The factory stereo was OK, the bass and highs were just "Dull". After the initial replacement of the speakers, I felt that there was an improvement in sound, but not as much as I was expecting. 3 months after installation and speaker break-in period, my sound system is "Kickin" when I am able to crank it up and Jam! The bass is solid and highs are crisp along with the factory sub which I believe sounds pretty good. All this without kicking me in my wallet.

Pros: Quality sound for my budget.

Freaking awesome sound & quality that I would have never expected from anything smaller than a 6x9. I've custom installed 6x9s in vehicles despite Crutchfield recommendations that they would not fit, but decided to settle for these 6.75 in the front doors of my '16 Chevy Impala Limited Edition & have 0 regrets. Still needed an adapter (which I hate to use), but that's not Crutchfield's fault, even the factory Bose system speakers come with a pre-fabricated bracket for installation. Contemplated between Kicker & JBL (JBL tops the chart for me when it comes to car audio speakers, but have a limited selection) for aftermarket speakers. In any case, you will be impressed with the sound output & clarity of these reasonably priced high end Kickers.

Pros: Excellent sound quality, crisp highs, decent lows...paired with my aftermarket Kenwood receiver, it's sounds like I'm at a live symphony.

Cons: None really, but make sure your sufficiently power them or you will curse your amplifier. The Kicker brand speakers are power black holes, they just suck up all...lol

These speakers sound so much better than the stock speakers. I know it sounds obvious, but they truly made a difference in clarity, bass, mids, and even the vocals sound much better. Solid, good performer. Decent bass, certainly acceptable for a speaker this size. Great mids and highs, don't know why anyone would buy anything but a soft dome tweeter, ideally silk dome. Everything else is harsh and bright, comparatively speaking.

Kicker 44KSC6704 good not amazing, installed 4 of these in a Chevy Avalance 2500, and running a Jensen VX7023 no amp. and made adjustments to the equalizer. sound is good but not great. I would say better than I would expect from a stock low to mid level new car sound. but not as good as my 2002 BMW 323 stock unit and no way near the sound of my 2005 stock land rover Lr3, (just trying to give a point of reference) they are going to work for now but I will end up replacing them. everything sounds good at low to mid level volume but you can tell you are pushing them too far when you turn it up any further

Pros: good full range at low and mid volume level

Cons: lack the ability to have full range at higher volume levels

Rears sound softer in volume but I'm sure that's just the factory stereo. Came with everything needed to install and hook up wiring. Planning to add an amp and LC2i tapping into the fronts for signal for a future upgrade. These are the best price to performance in my opinion.

Pros: Good bass, detailed highs and fairly inexpensive for what it can do.

Cons: None

Great replacement for factory speakers in my Silverado

Pros: Sound great out of the box

Cons: The install instructions were vague. I have no idea how to use the clips it came with so I installed with self tap screws

Replaced a pair of Kicker 40CS654's in the front doors of my 2007 Chevy Malibu. They certainly sound like a $50 upgrade. The bass and mids are tighter, clearer, and stronger. The treble isn't shrill like the 40CS series, which is due to the smoothness of the silk dome tweeter. I'm still breaking them in, but I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to anyone with a $100 budget.

Pros: Tight bass response Smooth highs Punching mids

Cons: None

Customer Q&A

3 questions already asked

Q
Will these fit the rear doors of a 2017 Tacoma? The component series says compatible, but this one does not. I'm looking for some clarification.
[ Samuel  Feb 03, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
Our "Find What Fits" guide is accurate; the built-in tweeters on these 2-way speakers stick up too far to fit under the available clearance of the factory speaker grills in the rear doors of your 2017 Tacoma. As a result, they are not a recommended fit in this location.

Q
Will I need an aftermarket head unit or amp to power these speakers? Or will my factory stereo work?
[ Justin  Jan 22, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
You might need to get an amp, but it depends on the wattage outpost of your factory amplifier/headunit
[ Sanjay  Jan 23, 2018 ]
A
I have an aftermarket head unit and it gives the speakers decent sound. I would recommend some kind of amp to power your door speakers to give it a better range of lows, mids, and highs.
[ Brandon  Jan 22, 2018 ]
Q
will the bose amp. work with the 44ksc6704 speakers are do i need a up grade ?

Yes, as long as you have the output wires connected
