About the Kicker CompRT 43TCWRT84

A match made in heaven...or Oklahoma

Kicker's 43TCWRT84 loaded enclosure puts a thumping 8" CompRT subwoofer and a second passive sub behind the seat of a truck or in any vehicle that's low on space. The rugged sealed box was designed specifically for the subwoofer, so you can count on getting maximum performance, no matter what kind of tunes you enjoy. The second sub (called a "passive radiator") reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, creating lots more bass without any port noise.

Big bass from a CompRT sub

The 8" CompRT sub features a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Heavy-duty enclosure

Sturdy medium-density fiberboard ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure, and its sealed design keeps the bass punchy and accurate, without getting sloppy. The enclosure's 4-ohm impedance works well if you're bridging a 2-channel amp to drive your bass.

Sounds pretty good in a 2015 Toyota Tacoma (DC) for and 8" subs sounding like 10" or 12! Great buy!

Pros: Slim and small for my Application. Fits (2) 8"s right back of a Toyota Tacoma double cab sound perfect!

Cons:

Great sound for its size

Product sounds good despite its small footprint. I went with this over larger subs specifically because of its size as I needed to hide it behind the drivers seat in my prius. I like its sound. It isn't overly loud. It doesn't drown out the component speakers that I bought for the front, however, you cannot crank it up because it cannot handle what a 12 inch sub would handle. If you want bass, but also value your space....this should be something that you consider. You can see in the pictures that I use my prius C like a truck. I carry dogs, equipement, and materials to jobsites. The rubber flooring covers up all the seats and left me with a very specific size space to put the sub.

Pros: tiny size, decent sound

Cons: Will not give you overpowering bass like a larger sub

Bumps hard

Wow does this thing pump. I only have 125 RMS going to it and it thumps pretty hard. Louder than most 10 inch woofers. Sounds really clean too. Shocked it can reproduce all the low notes like a bigger speaker.

Pros: Small size, Good clean bass. Can play low bass and tight kick drum style bass. Good for all types of music. Sturdy build. Not some cheap box that will fall apart. Reasonably priced for the sound quality you get in return.

Cons: None.

1999 Ford Ranger

This compact sub met and exceeded my expectation. I have a single cab 99 Ford ranger and it fills it with bass. I run a four channel amp with my four in cab speakers also hooked to my amp, with this kicker bridged. It hits so hard it has given me a headache. It fits well behind the seat and looks really good too. Would definitely recommend again.

Pros: Fit the tiny space, hit really hard and looks great.

Cons: None

Outstanding Value for a Sub

Brian from OH on 5/25/2018

2013 Toyota Tacoma

I wanted a small sub to add some bass to my 2013 Tayota Tacoma Crew cab. I looked at the Tacoma specific enclosures and some of the rectangular subs, but they were pretty large for the space behind the rear seats. The Kicker CompRT43 worked out great. I removed the plastic storage tray and placed the sub behind the rear seat on the drivers side. This sealed sub utilizes a 8" driver along with an 8" passive radiator, allowing it to punch well above its weight class. Build quality is solid, and the carpeted finish is well done. While its not going to take your breath away when it hits, it gave my system some much needed bottom end. For the money, it represents a great value for sub woofers. I'm using a JL Audio JL Audio JX400/4D amp and a Kenwood DPX702BH head unit as the supporting system.

Pros: Small Footprint Good output Outstanding value

Cons: Not going to blow your windows out

Awesome subwoofer and lots of boom with a 300w Alpine sub. I am hoping to get the 2nd one but I don't want to buy a new amp. The vid shows my entire system.

Pros: thin, great sound, sleek design

Cons: Ports only on one side

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring post terminals (one pair) are mounted on the left side of the enclosure and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs (3/4" width), or bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Woofers: The Kicker 43TCWRT84 enclosure uses one 8" CompRT series subwoofer and one 8" passive radiator.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompRT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. Once broken-in, the subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 19-5/8"
  • Height: 11-1/2"
  • Depth (base): 6-3/8" (7-1/8" including the subwoofer)
  • Depth (top): 3-1/2" (4-1/4" including the subwoofer)

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
I am hoping to get good bass from these speakers and still have some leg room in my 1996 Ford F-150 standard cab pick-up. Currently I have two Kenwood 12" shallow subwoofers mounted in truck boxes that have great bass but I loose a lot of leg room because I have to slide the seats forward. [ Bob  Dec 26, 2018 ]

Size and brand [ Consuelo  Sep 16, 2018 ]

I chose this product because it was one of the only setups I could fit in my 2003 GMC Duramax Crew Cab. I had bought a diffrent sub in a low profile box thinking it would fit. I found out the hard way that no matter where I put it, it was just slightly too big. These new CompRT boxes are allot smaller and will fit behind my seat if my measurements are correct. Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
