Morel Tempo Ultra 502 Integra 5-1/4" 2-Way Speakers

Morel's Integra design improves time-alignment by building the tweeter into the woofer cone.

Superb sound

This Morel Tempo Ultra 502 Integra 5-1/4" 2-way car speaker redefines the concept of woofer and tweeter in one basket. To improve imaging, the recessed soft dome tweeter is aligned with the paper composite woofer cone itself, eliminating phase problems for a more natural, uncolored sound. This "point source" design offers the added benefit of allowing these speakers to fit in more vehicles.

Handles up to 100 watts RMS

Morel also includes a built-in crossover to give you an ideal blend of the highs and lows for an incredible stereo image. And with power handling up to 100 watts RMS, you'll do just fine powering these speakers with your car stereo, but you'll get maximum performance if you power them with an aftermarket amplifier.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications.

Awesome

The rear speakers in my Tundra even tough upgraded to Rockfords still lacked depth and midrange. I initially spoke with a previous advisor who couldn't find a fit but luckily I got in touch with Garrett who recommended these. While they technically do not "fit", they are out of spec by .03" so they fit fine. Sound is great with great midrange, thanks Garrett!!

Pros: Crystal clear with great midrange

Cons: None

The Absolute Worst

I had them installed yesterday by a guy with 10 yrs of experience in automotive installation. The installation issues are a separate thing. I want to speak about the sound quality coming from these speakers, located in the soundbar of my '17 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. There is absolutely no mid range in the sound. It's all vocals. The absolute worst. They must be replaced immediately.

Pros: None

Cons: Reminds me of two different atrocious listening experiences: 1) when you test out a home theater center channel, just to see what happens, and you play music solely through that center channel (awful). And 2) listening to music through a transistor radio.

Wow. These speakers are the real deal. After a lot of research and reading, I chose these component speakers from Morel to upgrade my car audio system. I had middle of the road coaxial speakers from Kenwood previously and there is a world of difference with these Morels. They have exceptional clarity and tonal séparation with outstanding midrange response and crisp but not overly shrill highs/tweeters. You can hear every detail of the music you're playing, so much so that I have been searching for remastered versions of my favorite songs so I can get even higher quality audio sources to enable the speakers to truly shine. There's a warmth to the sound that shows best when listening to the human voice, string or woodwind instruments, and in particular guitar. Electronic music sounds fine, but lacks that soulful glow of rich sound these speakers are capable of producing. Current set up is aftermarket head unit with only 13W RMS and 50W peak, matching model tempo components up front, these morel tempo coaxials in the rear, and a powered subwoofer in the trunk. Truly amazing, jaw dropping, bring a tear to your eyes emotion can be felt with this set up. Can't wait to add a four channel amp to really push the power these speakers were built for.

Love them. Most clear amazing sound possible. Not to high of highs and just amazing speakers. Turn me up as loud as you like, they won't distort at all

Pros: Best sounding speakers I've owned.

Cons: Wish I had more of them or bigger amp to bring them to full life.

Great overall sound. Rich vocals as well as bass. Had installed Focals in the rear door and switched to these. I thought the Focals sounded good but these are much cleaner.

Pros: Crisp highs and tight lows.

Cons: None

Put these in my 2018 Ram front doors. There weren't a lot of choices for 6 x 9's that would fit the front door due to the mounting depth. After reading a million reviews, I decided to give these a try. With factory hook up they sounded great, ( probably as good or a little better than the 6 x 9's I put in the rear doors), When I hooked them up to the Kicker Key amp I purchased, they really sound awesome. Bottom line, I think anyone would be happy with these with or without an amp, but the amp does help a lot.

Pros: Great sound all ranges.

Cons: None

I installed these speakers in both my sound bar and front speakers (2005 Jeep Unlimited) and could not be happier. The sound is crystal clear. The radio is an Alpine along with the 445 Amp. These speakers take whatever the amp throws to them - but I cannot stress enough the clarity of the speakers - very pleased with this set up.

Pros: Clarity

Cons: No cons!

1999 Acura 3.2TL

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I replaced the factory Bose one-way door speakers in my 1999 Acura TL sedan with four of these Morels. Each Bose speaker weighed 12 ounces, while the Morels weigh 32. I could probably stop the review right there. I knew they'd sound better but I was hardly prepared for how much better they sound. They are warm and natural, with acoustic instruments like drums, guitars and horns produced with lifelike fidelity. Frankly, I was a little concerned about the concentric design of the tweeter housing, but that turned out to be completely unfounded on both the low and the high end. The speakers have tremendous fidelity throughout their range, with deep, pulsing lows and bright, clear highs all the way into cymbal frequencies. I spent about 20 minutes playing with the EQ in my high-end Kenwood head unit, and found that I only needed a minimal curve that boosts the main instrument and vocal frequencies (from about 150 Hz to 1,500 Hz) 1 db. That's it. So I'm running them essentially flat with 22 watts per channel and a factory Bose subwoofer with 100 (and I tailed it off starting at 120 Hz). I didn't need to boost the very lowest and highest frequencies at all. When you can feel not only the bass drum but the toms and the snare with only 22 watts and a flat EQ curve, that's impressive. Overall, I am thrilled with these speakers. They produce lifelike sound across a wide range of instruments and musical genres. They sound much larger than they are. Highly recommended.

Pros: Very natural sound, great efficiency, easy to fit into factory enclosures with no cutting

Cons: None

I have a bit of a franken-Roadster, a 1998 BMW M based on the Z3, where a previous owner installed a full roll bar behind the seats, blocked access to the factory 4" infills, and messed up the stock subwoofer. With infills failing and subwoofer turning into a buzzy mess, I needed to rethink my sound system. I tore out the busted up decorative plastic and subwoofer, took advantage of the roll bar by bolting two 5 1/4" wakeboard cans behind the seats, and installed some temporary Pioneers to fill the gap with the stock amp and factory crossovers. The sound was definitely better, but it was still not right. Prior to swapping the amp, I updated the Pioneers to a pair of Morel Tempo Ultra 502 Integras -- wow. Even hampered by the crossover points and bass blocking of the factory amp, there was a fullness and very little harshness to the sound that the Pioneers couldn't replicate and the factory system couldn't approach. The Morels didn't sound as brittle as the Pioneers (or Focals) using the same no-sub, factory amp setup. After a month with the Morels and the factory amp, I installed an Alpine KTP-445U in the M's cramped trunk. Day-and-night difference. The Morel's really came to life with a much deeper fullness and well-rounded sound field that transformed the listening experience. In fact, the Morel Tempos more than cover the range of the factory subwoofer in that tiny car. Four months on, I'm a very happy camper and glad I went with Morel.

Pros: Full sound after a break in period. Great for situations where you don't have a strong or overpowering subwoofer. Not bright, balanced in tone.

Cons: If doing a direct factory replacement, need to understand the capabilities and crossover frequencies. These speakers are forgiving, but will not come to life without some degree of matching up what the drivers can do with what the amp can provide.

Time Aligned Structure: The recessed tweeter is concentrically aligned with the woofer cone, so sound radiates from the same point for both. This minimizes phase error and allows the sound field to be constant in all directions, improving time alignment.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Q
I installed these into 6 1/2" openings using the provided bracket. The cutout on the bracket leaves about a mm or so of space between the speaker and the bracket, not allowing for a seal. I would like to know if these speakers should be installed into a sealed enclosure or if they're fine as is?

I was concerned that there will be chaffing because of the gap, so I sealed it using aluminum ring extracted from h t t p s : // www . amazon . com / gp / product / B001UG0N6Y.

I purchased sealed enclosures but there was not enough room to use them in my 1997 Toyota 4-runner. I installed the speakers without the enclosures and they sound great to me. I really like these speakers.
