BUYER BEWARE.... IF I could give less than 1 star, I would. I purchased this curb alert after speaking to Crutchfield tech. I was told they had a list of people by state that can install their product. I was told all that was involved was connect to hot wire and put speaker inside car. ( IT took 3 hours labor, drilling through the heat shield where engine is, etc. Little more than just locating hot wire because it is one piece, not able to just tie in). The place I chose has been in business since the 80's but was about 80 miles from me in another state, but hey, if they can do a good job, ok.. They charge $85.00 a hr. It cost me $212.00 to have it installed. It wasn't until it was installed that they discovered the unit was defective and would not work. The ONLY GOOD thing that Crutchfield or Brandmotion done was send me a replacement with instructions that I had limited time to return the defective one. NEITHER one will pay for my cost of having the replacement installed or pay for the initial installation. BOTH the mfg. (Brandmotion) and the seller, CRUTCHFIELD, SHOULD check the product before sending out. When I asked about my extra labor charge, I was told, "This is mostly for do-it-yourself installations. IF that is the case, why do they have a list of installers, why not tell the buyer that at time of purchase, and why not check your product before it is sent out. I will NEVER BUY ANYTHING ELSE FROM CRUTCHFIELD OR BRANDMOTION. BUYER BEWARE....DON'T WALK ... RUN AWAY!!!
Pros: I did get a replacement. ..Don't know if there are any, never got to use it to see. I have not installed the one sent to replace the defective unit I got.
Cons: Seller does not cover installation when it has to be paid twice, even though unit was defective upon initial receipt and never used. Seller does not test units prior to sending out.

I had this professionally installed on my Mercedes SL....which I had JUST paid a lot of money for to get the front bumper repaired/refinished. First, it was clear that the sensor does not pick up curbs with reflective paint. (I guess this is understandable?). I repeatedly tested and tried to get it to sound in front of a reflective (bright yellow paint) curb--AFTER I had hit it--luckily, it was low enough that it didn't rub my bumper nor the unit itself. But I was trying to see what *I* had done wrong. After that, I was skeptical to trust it, so even for regular curbs, I was extremely slow and careful to pull up to curbs. Keep in mind, I had had this LESS THAN a WEEK! With no exposure to water--no rain, no puddles, no carwashes. Then, the next thing I knew, I again scraped a curb! ...and pulled off the sensor unit in the process. And, now again have damage on my front bumper--which I was trying to avoid in the first place!!!!!! While Crutchfield is willing to take it back and credit me, that does not pay for me to repair my bumper AGAIN, nor the cost of install AND un-installation for the return of the unit!!!! They advised I go back to Brandmotion, who took down my name, number and email and promised to get back to me. After over 2 weeks, I haven't heard anything. I am very disappointed in this purchase. Yes, kudos to Crutchfield for helping me out within their capacity, but I don't feel Brandmotion is doing right by me, considering the nature of the prod
Pros: Works great...when it works.
Cons: When it doesn't perform design function, allows your vehicle to get damaged. Bad when that's what you're trying to avoid.
