MTX engineering

Trickle-down technology makes the Terminator TN12-02 12" sub a serious value. MTX's exclusive spider plateau venting pushes air in and out of the inner works to keep the 1-1/2" voice coil cool, while the Assymetrical Linear Drive System uses a flat, progressive spider and an extended pole piece to produce smooth, linear movement of the polypropylene cone. The result is a powerful sub that keeps pumping out accurate bass, even during extended, high-level play. This sub's 2-ohm impedance makes it a great match for a mono sub amp.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 150 and 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

They're not just for cars

I was actually looking for woofers to replace the aged and consequently blown ones in my 27 year old home speakers "studio monitors". Production and replacements parts were discontinued in 1992. These matched the closest of any when considering specifications. The best thing is that they sound amazing again. Secondly cost was minimal considering how much the monitors cost back in 1989 when I got them. 2 Thumbs up man !

Great speaker for the price

A friend of mine had an old terminator box that was in good shape so I decided to just put same speakers back in the box. They were a little tight to get into the speaker holes, and only took a little trimming to get them to fit. I have mine wired in series with 150 RMS going to each. They are by no means competition speakers, but have excellent sound for the price.

Pros: Price Sound

Cons: Low peak power (but you get what you pay for)

I paired this product with an amp of equal rms and sounds great. I was looking to fill the sound void of my component speakers not to drown them out while annoying the neighbors and this works spectacularly. I also drive mostly highway Mike's and with the windows and roof open I can't still hear my tunes clean and clear over the wind.

Pros: Good functionality without an excessive amount of wattage.

Cons: You're not going to win any competition with those caring more about impressing over listening to the music.

This sub is sounds amazing. It is currently connected to my factory (Audi) amp, instead of my factory sub (which was perfectly tuned for the car). Although it is in the trunk in a wooden tube enclosure, the lows still come through to the cabin. LOVE IT!!

Greatest Value:Quality

High quality SVC subwoofers for your money. Well made with rubber surround and poly cone. I'm feeding each woofer 190w rms/380w peak. My mirrors fuzz up again and the heart of the music is back. My friends are impressed with the sound volume and quality of these subwoofers. Don't let the price fool you. Just look at the reviews, all are 5 stars.

Pros: Available in 2ohm or 4 ohm by Crutchfield for any configuration.

Cons: None

I installed the MTX subwoofer with the previous settings of my amp and head unit and I might say it sounded way better and improved the sounds in my car as well than my previous amps I had installed. Amps: 4ch Sound Ordinance, 2ch US Acoustic Speakers: Polk audio

If you want to add bass to your system at a great price you will not find a better product. I put this in my sons car on an Alpine amp pushing 200 watts and it sounds great. When you get the sub in your hands you will see the quality as well.

Product Research

Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Features

Spider Plateau Venting: Heat from the voice coil is vented through vents that surround the back of the spider. As the woofer travels back and forth, cool air is pulled in and heated air is pushed out.

Asymmetrical Linear Drive System (ALDS): The Asymmetrical Linear Drive System consists of a flat, progressive spider that improves suspension and an extended pole piece that smoothes out the cone's linear motion. The result is high output and low distortion.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box: For the best possible sound quality where space is a premium MTX recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.

Vented Box: The recommended vented box has a net internal volume of 2.0 ft³ with a slot port 14" x 2" x 16-3/4". Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power.

I actually use them in my home speaker cabinets and have often given them the full 900 watts (each channel) for decent lengths of time during party's with no issues (as long as your not over driving them frequency wise)

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: If the amplifier is a mono subwoofer amplifier rated at 240 watts RMS or continuous power then it will work great with this subwoofer. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
