Crutchfield does it again. So happy with my purchase. Subs hit hard. Great for the price. I have been a customer of crutchfield for 15 years and spent tons of money with them they never disappoint. People have said the Amp overheats, have not had that problem. People said MTX ships too slow did not have that problem either.

Pros: Price, quality and shipping time

Cons: None

MTX TNP212D2 Bass Package

Matthew from Ohio on 1/24/2018

Subwoofers and the amp are a good match. Made it a lot easier to get the best sound system in a bundle instead of guessing. Sounds great but I would like mtx to offer a ported enclosure option for some people to have a ported or a sealed enclosure option. Other than that I am pleased with the mtx bundle

Pros: Sounds good

Cons: Should have a choice between a ported or a sealed enclosure

Crutchfield 5 stars / MTX 1 star

Edwin from Watertown, WI on 1/1/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love Crutchfield. I love dealing with them. I've purchased all my car audio equipment from them for 20+ years. The last thing I bought through them was shipped directly from MTX and the amp was defective. Been waiting on the replacement for awhile now. Can't blame Crutchfield though. They processed the return right away but I wish it was being shipped from them instead of MTX. It hasn't been a pleasant experience dealing with MTX. But since this review is on Crutchfield they get a 5 star. If this was rating MTX is would be a 1.

Pros: Crutchfield has handled everything as great as they could.

Cons: MTX is very slow and unresponsive.

Pros: Bumps hard

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This package hits pretty hard. Although because of my lack of knowledge I had to call customer service to figure out how to set it up. The guy in customer service was very helpful. This package fits in my 09 lancer without a problem. Only down side I have come to is that they don't send a wire kit so you have to buy that yourself.

Pros: Hits hard Fits in my car Support is really helpful

Cons: No wire kit

MTX Subs

Bob from Wyoming on 10/5/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed the MTX subwoofer package in my daughters truck and the installation was a snap. It look really good and sounds decent for for the price. The only issue is the subwoofer volume control does not work. I'm still troubleshooting the issue and sure it is something very simple that I am forgetting.

Pros: Good price, well built and very easy yo install.

Cons: Amp should have more power to push two 12's.

Save your money for a better setup

BobNC from North Carolina on 6/23/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I should have listened to the bad reviews. You get what you pay for. Was optimist, hoping for mediocre performance for my commuter car. I would have been happy with that for the price. The amp is garbage. Has no power and overheats in 5 min. Installed it on a Friday night and my first drive to work on Monday morning just did not have much punch which was disappointing. My single Phoenix Gold 12 in my truck and single Kicker 12 in my vette just murders the 2 MTX's. On the way home the amp shut off 5 minutes after I left. Pulled over and found it shut down due to over heating. It came back on after 15 minutes then cut off again after a few minutes. Did this 4 times and I just turned off the music because I was so aggravated. I would return the whole system but not going to pay to ship it back. I will put that money towards a new amp. I think the subs will perform OK with adequate power. Anything is better than them not playing because of a poor quality amp shutting off. Never had this issue with Kicker, Phoenix Gold or Rockford. Now I will have more money invested than if I bought better stuff to begin with. Shame on me for trying to save a dollar. Reviews are the same on the MTX website also. Sorry MTX but had not bought your products in over 20 years and will not be buying any again. Kicker all the way.

Pros: Subs and box are OK for entry level components and will probably perform reasonably well with proper power.

Cons: Cheapest amp ever. No power and overheats in 5 minutes. MTX needs to quit selling this amp. Ends up being a more expensive deal once you purchase a good amp.

Rusty from Pennslyvania on 3/10/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

assuming you mount everything well you wont have a problem with the amp overheating, all the reviews talk about it overheating or being to small of an amp but this is a very well matched combination sounds great very loud and looks good too. great combo for the price

Pros: Loud, clear, tight bass, everything is paired well

Cons: It does ship from a separate supplier then Crutchfield so make sure you are prepared to wait just a couple more days if you order a deck with this

Dustin from Bountiful, Ut on 2/7/2015

These subs hit super hard, and clean! Great for the price. When I first installed them, and was tuning my amp my neighborsccame out, and yelled at me. Haha. All my friends compliment my sound system, and ask me where I got them. They go great with my Pioneer speakers, and Sony head unit.

Pros: Subs are amazing.

Cons: Amp is small, but great for price.

Pros: Matched components

Cons: Doesn't come with any instructions or info on the amp or speakers

Amp is too small

cookmar from Orange Park, FL on 3/23/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are nice, however they can handle much more than what the amp is supplying. Also, the amp is getting really hot and that worries me. This set should be paired with a larger amp in my opinion.

Pros: Speakers and box are nice.

Cons: The amp gets hot.

Great subs

Mr. Main from Greenville NC on 1/23/2014

Great subs. hit 129 db with them in my 2010 ford focus. The amp did burn up though. I have a 500 watt alpine v power on them now and they shake the windows in my house from the yard. Great subs. decent amp. Very very loud system for people on a budget.

Pros: loud and clear for the price.

Cons: Bad amp

Quality combination

Bo from Brandenburg, KY 40108 on 12/30/2013

I drive an 01 Cadillac DTS and 2 different stereo installation shops told me I'd have to get a different car to get a good sounding system. I bought these and people have told me they can hear me coming over a block away. Great addition to my factory Bose system.

Pros: Clean crisp sound. Clear bass.

Cons: Only complaint I have is amp overheats too often.

great setup

Dave C from Currituck, NC on 7/23/2013

I gave it four stars because the subs are great and they hit hard but the amp's gain has to been turned up high for them to hit but the amp over heats.

Pros: Great subs

Cons: Weak amp, over heats

These sube are the best i've seen at my school.I've been in two cometitions in school parking lot and got 2nd both times ( would've gotn first but people ith the MTX thuder beat me). Best thing you can get your son for his birthday or make him save it up and buy it like i did.

Pros: Price is amazing and vibrates the car

Cons: When you install the amp and it has 3 blinking lights then make sure you chek all the wires and ac adapters... And be sure to turn off your car for one minute in between fixing somthing or it want change anything

Not bad, just the little things that are disappointing

Jay from New York on 7/17/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Hooks up pretty easily, sounds good matched with my old Jensen DVD unit. Really adds a new dynamic for the low hit bass that had been missing from the sound profile. Picture above shows it having two terminals on the rear which I was hoping I could use with a Sony xplod 2/4 channel amp however it only has one spring clip terminal when it comes out of the box. No big deal, why I went for the amp package as well but was somewhat disappointed that the picture didn't match up. One of the screws was missing from the amp, small one that holds the remote wire, nothing a trip to the hardware store didn't fix however.

Pros: Sounds good, decent price, straightforward hookup

Cons: No documentation at all in the box and the amp doesn't show up on the MTX web page. Still haven't found a comprehensive manual online. Picture shows two terminals on the rear of the box but it only has one.

Crutchfield response on 8/1/2013 Thanks for your review. We have removed the picture with two terminals, and we will be updating with a corrected picture of this item.

eclipse789 from Lexington, KY on 7/14/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It shipped from the manufacturer, and I got it in 4 days. Just got this hooked up by a performance shop here in town. This thing is paired very well, and it really thumps! It comes with a remote level adjustment, which is a good thing. For different types of music, you can tune the amount of bass that is appropriate. But when you want it, these subs and amp will get busy! Very satisfied, and a great price.

Pros: Quick delivery, very loud, thumping bass.

Cons: Only thing I didn't like was that it didn't come with an owners manual. Should have had instructions on proper installation, tuning, remote control setup.

hits hard....amp sucks

tom from nj on 7/12/2013

Overall it hits hard but the amp constanlty over heats and turns off

Pros: Hits hard

Cons: Shuts off every 20 mins

D L from Maryland on 7/8/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I only gave this combo 3 stars because the amp is sooooooo WEAK. It sends out good bass but has to have the GAIN turned way to far down in order to prevent it from over heating and shutting off. Once its turned down to the point it doesnt over heat, you cant even hear the subs. I have to ride with my rear seats open so that I can let air from my windows being down keep the amp cool. Sometimes that doesnt work because its so hot outside. I am either going to build a fan unit for the amp or im going to purchase a new amp. The Subs are extremely nice. They have some serious bang to em. I would not recommend this COMBO to anyone but would definitely recommend the subs,

Pros: Awesome SUBS!!

Cons: Amp overheats and requires a really low gain setting to prevent over heating.

This Sucker Thumps!

The Torrminator from Long Beach, CA on 6/2/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really, really great package. Very attractive black carpet subwoofer enclosure, expertly crafted and solid 12 inch subs, amp gives off great power resulting in thunderous bass response. I have to actually turn the bass down more than half-way!! Very powerful! A nice, unexpected surprise was the cute little external bass control (EBC) potentiometer- which is now mounted nicely under my pull-out ashtray!! Overall, a super product that exceeded my expectations by miles!! I highly recommend.

Pros: High-quality, attractive appearance, well-built, very powerful, great value

Cons: None

for the money- AMAZING

Pros: shakes the car, good first buy,

Great Package

You really cannot beat this package for the price. I installed them in my Explorer and they sound great. Amp and box are made for each other. Purchase a wiring kit and hook it all up. The lows are amazing and it only took a week for it to come in the mail.

Pros: Deep low bass. Easy to install. Fast shipping.

Cons: I feel like another 100 watts would do this package justice.

Hey guys, if you're looking to buy this package deal. DO IT! First subs ever and let me tell you, the bass these things produce is amazing! If these are your first subs get them great in every way. Even if they aren't your first these will rock your world and car. Even with this little amp they sound amazing. I can't wait to upgrade the amp and see what these do at full power!

Pros: Great sound! Great price! Awesome tech help!

Cons: Amp gets a little hot but nothing you can't fix with the windows open. Ships from manufacturer so expect 5-7 days shipping. Was a little mad when I found out about that.
