Sound on the waves
Marine applications pose unique challenges for speakers. There's water, salt spray, long hours of sunlight and temperature extremes that can ruin most car speakers in no time. For marine applications, you need a speaker that's designed to cope with these challenges and built with the toughness to overcome them. MTX's Wet Series can give you the dependability and great sound you crave.
This MTX sub is made to handle the marine environment.

MTX WET124-W reviews
I was building a system for my side x side. The amp, highs and mids were no problem, but when it came to a sub, that is where the problem came in. I tried several subs from 10" to 12" and all sounded like crap, firing out in the open with nothing to bounce off of. I emailed CrutchField. Told them everything about my system. In no time Chad emailed me back and recommended the MTX Wet 12" sub. So I ordered the sub, in no time it was at my house (fast shipping) I installed it in my sealed box, and then turned the system on. That was it, I finally found what I was looking for, tight deep bass. This sub completed my system, I'm very happy with it. Thanks to Chad and CrutchField for knowing there stuff.
Pros: Correct sub for my application

This was installed on a boat, and replaced a Rockford Fosgate sub that wasn't marine rated. The old sub was falling apart and needed to be replaced. When I received the MTX sub, I was a little worried as it was considerably lighter, and I was worried that this correlated to lower quality. Those worries disappeared when I finished the install, and turned the system on. This thing provides amazing bass!
Pros: Marine rated Powerful bass
Cons: None as of yet

This sub obviously was delivered quickly through Crutchfield and I immediately installed it. It hits hard and vibrates the water around me. I put it in an enclosure with a port and it sounds amazing.
Pros: Good in a ported box.
Cons: Wasn't as heavy as I expected for a marine speaker

More details on the MTX WET124-W
Marine Tested: The WET124-W is designed to be weather resistant and durable in conditions where water, humidity, or element exposure is prevalent. It features a polypropylene cone that is water resistant, a sealed ABS basket that protects the internal motor structure, silicone insulated tinsel leads, and an ASA plastic grille with UV inhibitor that is durable and that won't fade over time. Channels in the speaker frame and grille allow any water splashed on the cone to drain.
Infinite-Baffle: The WET124-W is designed for infinite-baffle use, so it can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure.
Mounting Hardware: Marine-grade stainless-steel mounting screws are included.
Grille: A grille is included, but the subwoofer can be installed without it. If the sub is mounted with the grille, several measurements are different:
- Mounting Height: changes from 0.41" to 2"
- Flange Height: changes from 0.4" to 1.2"
- Frame Diameter: changes from 12.405" to 12.875"
