Waterproof foam baffles from XTC fit behind speakers to keep them clean and dry. They compress easily to fit the installation, and form a mounting seal that can reduce panel vibration. Use these speaker baffles along with a Dynamat kit when you install your new speakers, and you'll enjoy improved sound and performance.

These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. Call one of our Advisors if you have questions — they'll be happy to share their expertise with you.

A
The Morel Tempo Ultra 602 in the front doors of my Honda Odyssey have terrific dynamics, but at certain bass frequencies the door mechanism vibrates and buzzes so I am hoping these items deaden some of the vibrations. I also had to cut away a large chunk of the speaker enclosure to make room for the large Morel magnets so these baffles will also protect the speaker units from any moisture or even the cold temperatures inside the door panel. [ Carl  May 18, 2017 ]
A
to protect my speakers from moisture. [ elron  Mar 26, 2017 ]
A
Civics are notorious for leaking behind the front door panel (as I am sure a lot of other vehicles do), I worked very hard to clean the contacts up on the factory speakers and connectors, as they were starting to corrode. I am installing the slim-line baffles (only on the front speakers) to provide a weather break behind the door panel to keep connections clean and dry. No need to use them on the rear as the speakers are contained within the trunk. [ Dallas  Mar 26, 2017 ]
A
The door seals on my car are notorious for leaking and I needed to protect the new speakers I am installing from water damage. [ Joshua  Mar 08, 2017 ]
A
The baffles will help with insulating my speakers for better sound and protect them from any moisture that may enter the front doors. The doors on my 1965 Ford F100 pickup have a lot of room to install speakers but they aren't insulated and they also allow for water drainage through the bottom of the doors when it rains. A
good question ideally you want the speaker to have enough breathing air. you probably would want to experiment. cut enough so that air can move freely, plug it in listen if it sounds muffled cut a little more til your happy with the sound. for me I first cut the back in 1/2, then the under portion of the baffle. my main concern was weather protection of my speakers. hope that helps you a bit
[ STEVE  Jan 21, 2015 ]
A
I cut them I just big enough to fit the connector thru. I hope this helps
