About the XTC 6-1/2" Speaker Baffles

Waterproof foam baffles from XTC fit behind speakers to keep them clean and dry. They compress easily to fit the installation, and form a mounting seal that can reduce panel vibration. Use these speaker baffles along with a Dynamat kit when you install your new speakers, and you'll enjoy improved sound and performance.

These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. Call one of our Advisors if you have questions — they'll be happy to share their expertise with you.

Q
Can I still use these Baffles with fastrings?
[ Leroy  Feb 15, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
They seem to work, I like the sound and would probably recognize a difference we're they changed out.

Q
Do I need to cut a hole to vent the baffles (other than the hole for the speaker wires to exit)?

A
I installed these for protection from rain leaks so I wouldn't cut them. If you cut them I would just leave them out.

Used with speakers installed in doors on 2002 GM Full size Pickup regular cab. I originally left the baffles intact (except for wire hole), however I found that the baffles muffled the bass. A few months later, I cut the back out of the baffles to allow the bass to resonate in the door cavity.

Q
I have Massive Audio midbass 6-1/2 speakers for my car and the width of the magnet doesn't look like it will fit. I just want to know if they will without cutting them to fit?

i am unsure if you will need to cut them or not. Your best option is to talk to a crutchfield advisor, because when i bought mine i had to cut-to-fit some... wish i wouldn't have tho.

As long as your magnet structure is less than the 6 1/2 " speaker housing, which I'm sure it is, these will fit diameter wise. Depth is easy, just measure from the speaker housing mounting plate to the rear most edge of the magnet, if it is 3 3/4" or less they will fit.

Hello i had the image dynamics ctx 65 components and the magnet was bottle necked in them and i had to cut mine so it didnt seal the rear of the speaker off and kill all midbass hope this helps

Q
Will these work with the JBL 621F speaker?
[ LINDA  Aug 07, 2020 ]

A
I don't rightly know. The easiest thing to do would be to ask a Crutchfield rep in an online chat. The two keys questions are 1) what kind of a vehicle is it going in (and location... door panel or rear deck mounts) and the physical size of your JBLs. But a Crutchfield rep should be able to sort this out for you.

Q
If I don't cut out the bottom off these and keep them sealed, how much does running these kill the bass response? I'm running subs so anything below around 80hz doesn't matter anyway. I'm running kicker components in front doors and kicker coax in the rear.

they do reduce the lows a little but small speakers don't have much bass anyways. I actually cut a little hole at the bottom where I feed the line, this also lets water drain if water ever gets back there.

A
I left mine sealed , I run kicker in front and back and a sub and it sounds great.

Q
Are these sold a a pair or individually?
[ Stephen  Sep 07, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
They are sold in pairs. And they did make a difference in the sound. In a tight sports car with a lot of road noise it's a must have.

Q
Will these fit the doors of my 1994 F150 regular cab??
[ Carolyn  Oct 12, 2014 ]

A
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.
