Bluetooth perfect.
Paige from Denver, CO on 8/22/2020
2006 Honda CRV LX
I have an older car without bluetooth. I tried the cassette player adapter. Which lasted about 2 weeks. Inexpensive but ineffective. Thought about an FM adaptor. Then found the Crux BTS-HN2. After research into the possibility of installing, I decided to try it. More expensive than adaptors but much less expensive than a new radio system (and looks much better and easier to install). Took me and my dad about 30 minutes a philips screwdriver and some know how. And the DIY bluetooth was in with no damage and worked perfectly. So - easy to install - bluetooth compatible - looks great and I've got TUNES. Thanks.
Pros: Easy to intstall, inexpensive, looks great, got bluetooth plus 3.5mm AUX input jack and USB port
Cons: Can't use the CD player anymore (who cares)

I installed this Crux bluetooth receiver into my 2006 Honda Accord. Installing it was easy, and once I got it plugged in, the bluetooth connected quickly. It started playing just fine, but now it just constantly disconnects, usually once every 10 seconds. This makes this product unusable for the bluetooth function, which is the sole reason I bought this product in the first place.

Good but can't use for hands free phone calls
Alex from Herriman, UT on 3/16/2020
2007 Honda Fit Sport
The ad doesn't make it clear that it won't work for hands free calling. In other words this streams my music and navigation through bluetooth just fine but make a phone call and it won't do it through the radio. Kind of lame. Maybe I should have read more carefully to learn the truth. Auxiliary cable works just fine using the phone's microphone and car stereo but this won't even do that. I should have known when I first saw the package and it looked like it was taped shut by hand with clear tape. In other words it looks like someone returned it probably for the same reason I don't like it. I'll give it 3 stars because for what it does it does well.
Pros: Works well for streaming music and navigation off my phone.
Cons: Does not work for hands free calling off of the phone. Also, I will add to this review if the piece of hardware has issues staying connected but for being installed for just a day it's working well.

Good Middle Ground for Keeping Things Stock
Oscar from Omaha, NE on 2/28/2020
2005 Honda Accord EX
2005 Accord EX sedan - The options for aftermarket audio systems for this vehicle are few, and while I considered installing something in the storage cubby space underneath the factory rig, I didn't like the look, nor did I want to give up the storage space. The Crux BTS-HN2 is a decent option. The unit installs quicky (plug and play), and pairs well with my phone (Samsung GS9). I've chosen to go completely wireless and tuck it away, out of sight. I will be adding a ProClip mount to maintain as clean a setup as possible.
Pros: - Integrates well with factory stereo - Inexpensive - Installs quickly
Cons: - Plug for factory stereo too large to fish cable through cubby area unless you drill it out.

Great sound quality
Brian from Seattle, WA on 1/14/2020
2005 Acura TSX
I replaced my iSimple Gateway in my 2005 Acura TSX since the TSX is almost impossible to find an aftermarket stereo that fits without any custom work so I opted for this and it is perfect. The sound quality is right on par with the wired connection I previously had and this thing is incredibly simple to install. Thanks to the hole that was already drilled in my center tray below the stereo, I was able to route the cord through there so I can connect a regular USB/Lightning cable for charging if needed. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for Bluetooth audio streaming without having to buy a new stereo.
Pros: Easy installation (installed in about 30 minutes) Great sound quality
Cons: None

2010 Honda Civic LX
Installed this in a 2010 civic. Pretty straight forward. The included directions dont tell you how to gain access to the back of the radio, but thats what you tube is for. Install is as easy as the other reviewers say. But for civic owners, remember to find your radio code. Once installed the radio asks for a code. If you dont know it, no,problem, the VIN and some other info can get you the code from free code finding sites. Once you enter the code and select AUX the crux box powers up. Easy to pair up to phones. USB charger does actually charge a phone. Didnt validate how fast the charge is. Took about 45 minutes. Dash didnt need much tools, just firm tugs on the panels and they popped right off. Good learning opp for the new gen kids.
Pros: Easy to install

this was very easy to install. It did not take away any current functionality of my stock head unit, and it works great. It is fairly inexpensive works properly and sounds good. I did have a few minor issues. The hands free controls do not work through my device. I cannot skip songs without using my actual iphone to do so. The volume does work but that should work regardless. Speaking of volume. The interface does not give out an extremely loud amount of volume. The phone has to be turned all the way up and even then listening to music with the windowns open would be a struggle. There isn't a very high volume level. Other than those minor issues, everything is perfect with this device.
Pros: Easy to install, clear sound, works properly.
Cons: cannont skip songs without using actual device, lack of top end volume

2006 Honda Pilot
The install on the 2006 Honda Pilot went in pretty easy however the plug in the bask of the audio system that must be replaced by the Crux is coming from the XM receiver so I would have to choose to either have my XM or have the bluetooth connection to my phone. At this point, I am planning to return the Crux, the Crutchfield tech and I spent 30 minutes on the phone reviewing the specs on my factory radio and the options I had with the unit -- I was able to find the schematics for my audio system in hopes that there was another option to plug this unit in but I am not seeing any -- I am not brave enough to cut strip try to integrate the factory xm connector into the Crux connector to experiment on how that would work so I am planning on returning the unit and maybe upgrade the car instead. Suggestion -- find someone that can make a pass through connector that will fit between the OEM connector and the CRUX connector and combine the two signals or use the extra pins to work off the AUX button
Pros: Size and install easy and connection to iphone worked well Install guide was great to have
Cons: The connector that is needed for the unit is the same as the XM receiver uses Must chose either XM or Bluetooth --if you want XM then don't buy this unit

Very simple installation and works as described. In my case, I tucked the unit behind my TSX center console to avoid having to cut holes anywhere for access. I lose the ability to plug directly into the unit but the bluetooth function was my main interest and so far it works great. For the TSX you gently pry out the center console storage box and feel around for the multi-pin connector under the cd/radio unit. The Crux plugs into the radio's open connector and playback is through the CD player setting.
Pros: Easy install. Affordable. Works as described.
Cons: None. Other products offer more features but this one works just as described.

2006 Honda Odyssey
It was easy to install and works as advertised. It took me about 15 minutes to put in. There is a good youtube video from a different company that shows them installing their product. Good to watch that first and then do this - they did a step by step video. My only complaint about this product and the instruction I received from Crutchfield are: 1- there is no explanation anywhere on where to put the box. I found a small plastic "punch out" at the top of the storage box in my '06 Odyssey that left an easy path from that box to the area behind the radio. I pulled the cord through and left the box in there. Other cars? Left up to you to figure out. And 2 - Crutchfield instructions are for taking out the radio, they do not address installation of this devices. It's pretty easy so I guess it doesn't matter all that much but if you're unfamiliar with this type of work it could get confusing. Overall very satisfied however.

Bluetooth works great and connects easily. We do have a 6 disc CD changer, but I ordered it anyway since we don't use CDs anymore. I just unplugged the 6 CD changer plug from the back to insert the Crux Bluetooth adapter and it works. We put the adapter in the small storage compartment under the air vent. I cut a small notch in the small panel in the back for the cord. In the picture there are notches on both sides, my mistake, the panel only goes in one way and I made my first cut on the wrong side. Feed the cord from the box first before routing the wire up to the back of the radio.

Cons: Not designed for phone calls (as clearly stated in product description).

I've only had this product for a few weeks but so far it has worked as advertised. The installation was extremely easy. Crutchfield also provided an installation help guide that was specific to my vehicle. The guide provided clear steps with pictures showing how to disassemble my car for the installation. I did not expect to receive this guide but was very impressed by it and thankful I had it. In addition, the actual unit is compact and lightweight. This is in contrast to two other iPod/iPhone interfaces I've owned in the past. They were very bulky and either required separate power or contained a spider web of cabling and connections. This device has a single slim cable that fits perfectly and compactly. With regard to sound quality, the unit performs well. I just turn the volume all the way up on my device which gives me more control authority with the car volume controls. I do wish the unit would play audio via USB connection for devices other than a thumb drive but it doesn't appear to support that (nor did Crutchfield claim that it would be supported). Also, although not advertised, I had to disconnect my satellite radio in order to plug in the unit. This results in me having to choose between satellite and the Bluetooth. I don't use satellite radio anyway so it's a non-issue for me but if you wanted it, I can't confirm if the proper cabling exists to have both connected simultaneously. In spite of these two minor items, I would recommend th
Pros: Low price, easy installation, compact design, good functionality and sound quality
Cons: Doesn't support playing all devices via USB (thumb drive is only supported), no y-cable connection included to enable satellite radio to remain connected.

The installation was a breeze. The Bluetooth seems to work really well. The problem is that the device seems to always default to Bluetooth so if you use the line in or USB port every time you turn your car off and then on you have to unplug then plug the unit back in. I use an XM radio and its a pain to say the least. I'm also receiving a lot of noise through the speakers when using the line also. Its not great but it does work.

For my daughters Accord, this is a very simple installation. Once I hooked it up, it worked perfectly. Hopefully it will continue. I would have rated this a 5 but the instructions didn't include only installing this item. The OEM radio doesn't have to be removed to install this item. Therefore the vent assembly doesn't need to be removed. I removed mine and was in the process of removing the radio when I saw the pin connection was on the bottom of radio. Zero need to remove radio or vent. There should be an additional set of product specific instructions. For now, my daughter is happy and so am I.
Pros: Works exactly as described Easy installation

This was easier to install than I expected. It was plug and play. I just had to unplug the XM tuner from the rear of the factory radio (no loss for me since I don't subscribe) plug in the adapter, run a lightening cable for a cleaner power connection when it's needed and reassemble. I was able to connect via Bluetooth with no issue and have continued to automatically connect every time I turn on the car. I deducted 1 star for having to disconnect XM, again that's no issue for me, but maybe when I sell or trade in the car. Also the Crux announces that it has connected and that announcement is super loud compared to the actual radio volume. When I remember, I turn off the radio when I get out. The adapter is powered when I turn the car on and it connects before I turn the radio on and thus I can miss the announcement. On my 2010 Odyssey it's the XM button that switches the radio to the adapter and my factory aux port continues to work as previously if I should ever need to use it again.

This product was easy to install and set up, and the sound quality and connection quality has been great! It never fails to connect to my phone, so in that sense, it's a solid product. Unfortunately, steering wheel controls don't work for skipping tracks. To be fair, the description says that steering wheel controls only work when USB is connected. However, I interpreted this to mean that when my iPhone is connected via USB, the controls would work. This is NOT the case. Steering wheel controls only skip tracks if you have a USB thumb drive plugged in, which is useless for my application. I would hope that any modern A2DP enabled BT device would be able to do this wirelessly. My other main complaint is this incredibly annoying female voice that seductively declares "Crux bluetooth connected" EVERY single time you start the car. I wish it could just be a simple beep or tone. It's like nails on a chalkboard hearing that every time I get in the car.
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: Voice prompts, lack of steering wheel controls when on bluetooth

Aileen from Suisun City, CA on 10/13/2017
2006 Honda Accord EX
I'm super happy with this product! I couldn't have asked for a more simple or affordable solution to my audio issues. My CD player recently stopped working and installing Bluetooth was the best decision I could have made. I saved a lot of money installing it myself and the process itself is rather simple. I installed this device on my '06 Honda Accord V6 coupe. The only issue I ran into was that the CD-changer port was actually on the back of my radio rather than the bottom. It made it more difficult due to the fact that it's hard to access but thankfully I didn't have to remove the radio. The USB port on the crux makes charging my phone really convenient. The sound quality is great and I haven't had any issues with connectivity. The only complaint is that you can't skip/pause songs through the factory radio or take calls but neither of those are a big deal for me. Overall a really quality device! Would recommend for anyone looking for an affordable way to add Bluetooth to their vehicle.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of installation, responsive auto-connectivity, USB port and AUX option
Cons: No factory radio controls (like skipping songs), doesn't have a mic for phone calls

SUPER easy install, there are lost of videos on youtube on how to do it. Just plug and play, it's really that simple! I just wanted to stream audio wirelessly from my cell in my 2005 Accord. I don't have the CD changer in my LX, so it was a perfect option to use the existing deck and hook-ups. Bluetooth works flawlessly and I haven't had to mess with getting it to sync, once paired the first time, it's auto connected every time I turn the car on. I haven't tried the USB or AUX option yet, but it was super easy to route into the glove box in case I want to in the future.

Awesome Bluetooth Adapter!
Brad from WA on 8/5/2017
2008 Acura TSX
The Crux Bluetooth Interface was super easy to install. It took about 10-15 minutes and I was on my way to streaming music from my phone. For my 2008 Acura TSX I drilled a hole on top of the pocket under the radio to pass the cable through. It does not take up much space and is easily accessible in this location. I can still use the 6 CD In-Dash Changer and all other factory abilities with my stock stereo. This setup basically removes the ability to have another, external, CD Changer. The Crux Bluetooth Interface allows me to play music off of my phone, through my car, much more efficiently than other products and options I've tried in the past. I have experienced no static or buzzing, only clear music. I have yet to experiment with the USB portion of this product, but the Bluetooth is what I was after. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to add Bluetooth audio to their vehicle.
Pros: Easy install!
Cons: Non yet!

Installed this in my grandsons 2007 Honda Accord, and installation took about 20 minutes, could not be any easier. Bluetooth connected right away, and can play music and charge phone with the usb drive. Much easier and cheaper than installing a new radio.
Pros: Easy installation at a cheap price.
Cons: None

Works but there is a cost

2004 Honda Accord EX
Well, I wanted to connect my iPad to the OEM radio in our 2005 Honda Accord. You lose the use of the CD changer and there is a ton of buzz/static. In addition, my iPod is an old classic type with the big connector and it will not connect to this interface via USB, so I have to use 1/8 aux connection and it needs to be physically unplugged and plugged back in each time the car is restarted. THAT is a gigantic pain in the butt.
Pros:
Cons: lose the use of the CD changer, a ton of buzz/static, poor connectivity

While Im ecstatic to being able to push music from my phone through my factory stereo and was expecting to lose the CD player capabilities, I wasnt ready to hear static from my FM stations and lose the XM Sirius capabilities.
Pros: I can charge the phone and now can play music through my factory stereo without the cost and hassle of replacing the unit, adapting steering wheel controls and losing the subwoofer.
Cons: My XM radio no longer works and my FM radio stations are incredibly static-y

Crux BTS-HN2 Bluetooth® Interface
Christen from Grand Rapids, MI on 7/5/2017
2007 Honda Odyssey
The BTS-HN2 seems to work well, but it won't stay connected to my B-Tooth phone for more than a minute. So I ended up using the 1/8" jack instead, which presents it's own problems: the B-Tooth is the default, so it's looking for that first. So you have to unplug the jack at the BTS then reinsert it each time you restart the vehicle in order for it to recognize the jack is what you want. Also I'm getting some engine "whine" through the speakers when running with the jack. Not too bad (better than listening to the radio) but it's annoying.
Pros: Fairly easy to install. Look for videos online.
Cons: B-tooth doesn't want to stay connected and there is a slight "whine" in the speakers when connected to the 1/8" jack.

A GOOD SOLUTION FOR A FACTORY AUDIO SYSTEM
STEVE from Corvallis, OR on 6/4/2017
2006 Honda CRV EX
This item will interface with a Smartphone via Bluetooth, but only for streaming audio music through the factory audio system. It does not work for hands-free phone calls. I bought this unit mostly to play my mp3 audio files on my USB flash drive through my factory audio system. It does work for this and my audio system (Honda Panasonic CD Changer + Radio) will recognize mp3 files, as advertised, and .wav files. Navigating through the folders, which represent the individual CDs is problematic. The folders are numbered, so a legend or table of contents is required (on paper). Navigating through the folders is difficult also. Once inside a folder, the Factory Unit navigates from song to song as it would from a CD and if you shut off the car and then resume, it remembers where it last was. If you recognize the limitations of this product, you won't be disappointed.
Pros: EASY & CLEAN INSTALL.
Cons: DIRECTIONS WERE NOT COMPLETE AND SPECIFIC ENOUGH. SOME FAMILIARITY WITH THE VEHICLE'S AUDIO SYSTEM IS NEEDED.

Great Bluetooth interface

2004 Honda Accord EX
The Crux BTS-HN2 Bluetooth interface was easy to install in my 2004 Honda Accord. The downloadable PDF instructions were not specific to my accord model but I found a video on YouTube which easily walked me through the install. The interface works great and connects immediately to my iPhone 6. There are no stereo controls other than volume so you have to use your phone to advance tracks etc. also this unit does not support hands free phone calls. There is another unit for more money that does this. But overall for playing your music over Bluetooth it works perfect. The aux input jack and USB charger are a nice addition too. Very useful. I highly recommend this very affordable product and the good support at Crutchfield!
Pros: Easy install and setup
Cons: Does not support hands free calling.

Working Great! Installed into my element sound quality is great for my needs. Took about 10 minutes to install, and everything is hidden. Might have been nice to program or have a switch between inputs, and if it could connect to 2 devices. I ended up unplugging the other line in ( tried using a splitter) because of bleed over, unfortunately it was used by honda for xm input.
Pros: Easy to install. Direct connection
Cons: Single device connection only No switch between inputs.

I couldn't be any happier. I bought this for my 2005 Honda Accord EX Sedan. I already knew how to take the dash apart to get to the back of the Stereo. So installation only took 5 minutes. Literally 5 minutes. I plugged it in, Searched for the Crux Bluetooth on my smart phone, and I was ready to go. It only does music, no phone calls, but I am super happy I didn't have to spend a fortune on a new stereo and a Kit for it. The sound quality is great, no problems what so ever. Thanks guys!!!!
Pros: Cheap, easy to install, fast installation.
Cons: no calls

Crux BTS-HN2 Bluetooth® Interface
Shirley from Myrtle Beach, SC on 1/2/2017
I just installed this Crux BTS-HN2 Bluetooth Interface and WOW am I disappointed. First, the audio quality is horrible and there is no hands free calls functionality. I have XM in my car and now I cannot use it because this interface does not support XM. I also found that the volume between my radio and this interface is very low. So I have to turn up the volume for the Bluetooth and then lower the volume when I go back to radio. This is a really inconvenient. I guess since it was so inexpensive, you get what you pay for. I will be removing it from my car. If you need hands free calls functionality and you want to keep your XM this is not the interface for you.
Pros: Low Cost
Cons: The audio quality is horrible, no hands free calls functionality. I have XM in my car and now I cannot use it because this interface does not support XM. The volume between my radio and this interface is very low. So I have to turn up the volume for the Bluetooth and then lower the volume when I go back to radio. This is a really inconvenient. Tony from New York, NY on 12/28/2016
No phone call hands free capacity. Poor audio quality and volume needs to be turned very high. Going back to radio the volume blasts you out of your seat. You loose XM. Since my state requires hands free telephone calls and touching the phone is illegal this will not work for me
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: No hands free telephone calls, loose XM radio,Very Poor Audio Quality and the Volume between radio and adapter is 3x higher. If you don't lower the volume before going back to radio you will be blasted out of your seat. I would pass on this one. I found a Bluetooth G2 with true HD Audio Bluetooth with Hands Free Telephone capable and Aux with USB charging. Z

Great Sound quality
Bill from Columbus, OH on 11/14/2016
2007 Honda Accord EX
After having relied on FM transmitters to enjoy music from my phone while in the car, this product is a breath of fresh air. I didn't want to replace the stereo in my '07 Accord, and wasn't happy with the sound quality from previous FM transmitters. After searching I found this product and couldn't be happier. Installation was a breeze and would have been done in under half an hour had I not taken the time to detail lower dash/console of my car. Long story short, if you're looking for a device to connect your smart phone to your factory stereo, buy this product. For the money it can't be beat.
Pros: Seamless integration, great sound quality
Cons: I'm quibbling, but it would be nice to control the tracks from the steering wheel controls or stereo.

Perfect way to connect your smartphone to your car

2008 Honda Fit Sport
This interface not only works beautifully, but it was very easy to install. At first, I was looking for a full HD interface swap for the existing stereo in my wife's Honda Fit. But cost became prohibitive. I then found this, and it's perfect for us. We really only needed a good Bluetooth connector for our Nexus phones so we could play Spotify, run Google Maps Voice, etc. The Crux adds a wired USB connection for charging in our case. It pairs quickly and works perfectly every time. I highly recommend purchasing a good interior trim clip removal tool kit. They're about 15.00 on Amazon and will save your trim panels from getting beaten up, making removal easier and faster. It took me about an hour total to install this on our Fit.
Pros: Super inexpensive. Easy to install. Works perfectly.
Cons: None that I've noted.

Good Product, Good value
Marius from Pearland, TX on 10/14/2016
2006 Honda CRV EX
First, the negatives: - The installation instructions (PDF) was a bit lacking. It just showed where the screws were located. It did not elaborate on how to pry the latches that was holding the plastic panel cover. It wasn't a major turn off though, because I saw some videos online that did provide guidance. - When on Bluetooth mode and paired with an iPhone 6, phone calls don't stream at all. Not sure if its a setting on the phone. I will try it out with an Android phone later on. - Still when on Bluetooth mode, when streaming music, the volume seems to be inconsistent. When in FM mode, my usual volume level is 10-11. When I use the device, I have to crank it up to 15-16 when online, and 18-19 for Pandora. I will try it out with an Android, later on. Now, the positives: - Installation took about 20 mins, including drilling a hole to fish out the cord to hide the device. I have a Honda CRV 2006 EX with CD changer. I had to unplug the CD changer cord (it's been years since I listened to a CD). - Ease of use is outstanding. You turn on your car and will pair automatically with the last device paired. The sound quality is crisp although I had to crank up the volume. It made my stock speaker sound better. - The USB charging is a great addition. Overall, despite some issues, I would still recommend this product. It is very cost effective. You get to keep your current audio unit while expanding its features.
Pros: - Ease of Use and Installation - USB Charging - Seamless Bluetooh Pairing - Very Cost Effective
Cons: - PDF Installation manual needs more detail - Varying volume setting when streaming music via Bluetooth - Phone calls no streaming via Bluetooth for iPhone 6 (not sure if this is a phone specific issue, will test it out some more).

Easy installation and very good Bluetooth audio quality
Brian from Haymarket, VA on 10/10/2016
2006 Honda Pilot
Given the low price paid, the Crux BTS-HN2 Bluetooth Interface is an excellent way to integrate Bluetooth capability into older Honda factory audio systems. Installation took about 10 minutes. I ran the cable from the rear of the factory head unit to the glove box. The sound quality is very good and the Bluetooth connected quickly to an older iPhone 5 without any difficulty. Music selection is via the iPhone, which is fine, and the iPhone lowers the music volume when Waze directions are voiced by the iPhone. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in retaining the factory head unit in an older Honda for whatever reason (keeping the factory look, retaining factory subwoofer functionality). The USB port does charge the phone, but playing iPhone playlists requires the Bluetooth connection as it does not seem to play via USB. I have not tried the 3.5mm jack. Installation of this unit does eliminate the factory XM capability, but if you're not an XM subscriber, it doesn't matter.
Pros: Easy installation. Good sound quality via Bluetooth connection. Great price.
Cons: Eliminates factory XM capability, if that matters to you.
