Designed for high fidelity

The MP 250 D2.3 features the technically advanced V-cone®, which keeps its shape even at high volume levels to minimize distortion. The pressed pulp of the cone is combined with mineral powders for additional rigidity, while the rubber surround keeps things under control. The sub's aluminum alloy frame is designed to minimize resonance so it'll produce rich, clear bass while handling tremendous amounts of power. With 600 watts of continuous power handling (1200 watts peak), the MP 250 D2.3 will produce enough low end to satisfy even the most demanding listener.

Big sound, small enclosure

This sub is designed for use in compact sealed enclosures so you'll get maximum bass from your space. You can even mount the sub directly to the back wall of the enclosure using the included rubber damping disc, allowing you to use even smaller enclosures. The sub's dual 2-ohm voice coils help you draw maximum power from your amplifier.

Product Research

Features

Dual 2Ω Voice Coils: This woofer features two 2Ω voice coils to offer wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Boundary Free Surround: This technology provides more cone surface area than other speakers of the same size, enabling it to move more air. The surrounds are made of butyl rubber, ensuring thermal and mechanical linearity.

Sealed Box: Hertz recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 17 liters (0.60 ft³). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Box: Hertz recommends a ported enclosure volume of 22 liters (0.78 ft³) with one 280mm (11.02") x 35mm (1.38") x 594mm (23.39) long port. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, maximizing bass output for a given amplifier.

Crossover: When using a sealed enclosure, Hertz recommends the low pass crossover point be 70 Hz - 80 Hz and a subsonic filter at 15 Hz. With a ported enclosure, the crossover point is lowered to 60 Hz - 70 Hz and the subsonic filter raised to 20 Hz. A 24 dB/octave slope is recommended for all crossovers.

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

Q
Would the mtx 4250 thunder work well with this sub?
george  Dec 07, 2019
1 answer
A
Hi George, thank you for your question. The MTX Thunder4250 is able to deliver 125 watts of continuous power at a 4ohm impedance. The Hertz MP 250 D2.3 can be wired to 4ohm, however, for optimal performance, you would need to deliver more power to the subwoofer. You can use the MTX Thunder4250 amplifier, but finding an amp that will be able to yield a better result would be recommended. Please chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. They will be happy to help you in choosing the best amp for your setup.
