Great amp!

I love my two PDX-M6's! Had one for two years before I got another! I beat up on a pair of L7 10's with two of these amps. I don't have much room in my truck, so what was cool about the pdx-m6 was I was able to stack the two amps! And the kit to stack them was easy to do and look great!

Love this amp! Rate sheet has it rated even higher than the 600 RMS and it offers clean power to my 12" Type R which can handle 750. My favorite feature is that the amp comes with separate connectors that you screw the power, ground, remote, and speaker wire into. Then those connectors plug into the amp itself. When working in tighter areas (under seat for example) for the amp this makes it easier to connect and disconnect.

Sound quality and good power in a compact chassis

Great, clean power provides tight well defined bass. I replaced a 600 watt mono pdx Alpine that went out after 8 or 9 years. The sound is a little tighter with more impact and detail than the one I replaced. They seem to have improved over the years.

Pros: Power, impact, sound quality, durability

Cons: Power doesn't increase with a drop in speaker ohm load

Great purchase. This little thing packs a punch. All the controls are hidden and it looks very clean. The amp could use a little more adjustment , however not a deal breaker. Also as an added bonus the tested RMS was higher than the advertised RMS. Not significantly but every little bit counts especially because some companies exaggerate their RMS. I am very happy with this amp!

Pros: High Quality Clean Look Efficient Size Easy to stack Amazing Connectors

Cons: A Little Pricey for the Output Gets Fairly Hot Tedious to Adjust Gain Limited Audio Control

The amplifier is good although I like to see more power out of it. I had a jl amp 500/1 that I think performs better for the price. I have them hooked up to 2:10 inch swt 10s4'. There in a 2016 GMC sealed downfire box again I would like to see more power for the money

Pros: Small doesn't get real hot.

Cons: I have these hooked up to two 10in Subs Alpine shallow mount I just don't think that truly pushes out 600 watts again I had a JL 500/1 amp but push more power out i think.

Im running 2 10 inch woofers on this amp and it will automatically turn down your music or selected bass frequencies to prevent your amp from over heating. Therefore muffling your good notes in the song.. i am upgrading to a class AB amp.

Pros: Strong build, good looking, easy setup, wont ever blow this amp.

Cons: Muffled sound, not strong enough for 2 speakers.

PDX-M6 Alpine Sub Amp

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I replace a 250 unit with a 8 inch sub. I order a Rockford Fosgfate 10 inch 150-550 watt sub woofer, it was selectable 2 or 8 ohm. The alpine 600 watt sub amp gave me some heavy hit bass , I got some rap music off a friend and he was impressed with the performance. Runs cool.. The Ru remote control for the amp is nice. I also have an alpine 80watt x 4 ch I bought in 85 I am currently using, there built to last

Pros: Adjustable gain and sensitivity, high pass selector, runs cool

Cons: stackable unit only, in mounting hardware

Fantastic product. I purchased this amp as part of an all alpine system. I have this amp pushing one 10" alpine type R 2 ohm sub and it sounds killer in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The bass is loud and clean and makes my eye balls rattle. I have never used an alpine amp before as I have always used kicker or memphis audio products. This amp is much better sounding than any of the kicker or memphis products I have used in the past. The price is a little high but well worth every penny.

Pros: Great looks, great sound, sturdy construction

Cons: non

I love this amp! It's my first mono amp but I've heard plenty others. I have it pushing a Diamond Audio 10" D6 sub in a sealed box and it bumps. The size is awesome; I have it mounted behind the seat in my Ford van and it barely gets warm. The only complaint I have is that I had to turn the gain up pretty high to get good bass but that might have something to do with the sub...I'm not sure. I would definitely buy it again!

This amp is absolutely amazing. I have been through countless mono amps and I never got that sound I was looking for. This amp acheived that sound, and is well worth the money! I have another amp powering my 4 speakers, and was unsure of my car's ability to power two amps. This Alpine manages its power so well that I no longer have problems with dimming lights, voltage drops, or the music cutting in and out. I have had those problems with lower rms, single amp setups!! The sound is crystal clear and almost too loud for me, and I'm sure its capable of so much more!

This is an excellent amp. Has a CEA minimum of 600 watts RMS but actually tested 686. You can hear the clean power even for a bass amp. In spite of all that power, this amp has a really small footprint. Have the optional RUX KNOB which comes in handy as I sometimes have to turn the single sub down. Even though I've pushed it hard for 2+ hours,it hasn't shut down once. Is part of an all-Alpine system in a 2011 Sonata : SPR-17S components,SPR-17C coaxials, PDX-F4 amp,SWR-1243D sub,PDX-M6 amp and PXE-H660 prcessor which lets me keep my factory HU.

This amp is awesome. I have owned quite a few amps since college. I used this amp to power two Alpine Type R !0' subs with dual 4 ohm voice coils. The amp performed flawlessly. I listen to a wide range of music from county to opera to rap and hip hop. I recently sold the vehicle that my system was installed in and I'm replacing it with the same amp. This time, it will power 2 Alpine Type X 10' subs. It's worth every penny!!

Absolutely Incredible

First off, this amp is just awesome. To give some background, I'm running 2 Alpine Type E 10" subs. They were originally powered by a JL Audio 500/1 amp. The JL amp started having some problems, so I upgraded to the PDX-M6 after some research. This amp brought these Type E's to life! Responsive, crisp, clear, sharp, chest thumping bass. I listen to just about everything; Country, Rap/ Hip-Hop, Heavy Metal, you name it. The bass produced is perfect for them all. I would highly suggest tweaking the settings with the input gain selector (I had to adjust this to get my subs to work), input game adjustment, subsonic filter and cross over adjustment to your individual needs. And most of all, ENJOY this fantastic amp!!

I've had this amp in my 1997 Chevy truck for a few months now. It's pushing power to two JL 10s in a stealth box under my back seat. I think the bass is starting to make my steering wheel loosen up from the firewall inside the cab. I listen to heavy metal and death metal and the response is amazing. It sound so much bigger than it really is. It's an expensive amp, but many people have told me to put the bulk of your money into your amps and I'm glad I chose this one. Plus it's small so you can put it tight places if you want to. I've got mine bolted to the back of the cab behind the back seat. I'd recommend getting a capacitor to help with power consumption. All in all, I wouldn't have gone with another product for my money. Plenty of clean, non distorted power and perfect for my listening needs. Worth owning, definitely.

I wanted to say how much I love this amp. I used to run with Rockford Fosgate. But the price and power was right. 600 watts into two JL 10" subs mono. Shakes the place so awesome. Nice deep bass and also the hard hitting punch. It sounds as good as when I had a set of RF 15's. The bass is tight and very responsive. Never had Alpine amps, but I am a believer of what they can do!!!! 5 stars from me

Features

PDX Amplifier Design: Class-D amplifiers boast higher efficiency, produce much less heat, and draw less current than traditional Class-AB amps. The PDX series is Alpine's super-efficient power density design of full-range and monoblock class-D amps. They combine MOSFET power supplies, MOSFET final outputs, and a thermal management processor, along with a 6-Layer Glass Epoxy PC Board to create a high-end sound quality without the bulky heat sinks required by most amps with this much power.

STAR Topology: Alpine's unique STAR (Signal Transit for Accurate Response) Circuit PCB design provides a single common ground for all amp sub-blocks, preventing ground interference and minimizing internal noise.

Power Management Processor: The Alpine PDX amplifier incorporates Alpine's new Power Management circuit. The Power Management Processor controls all aspects of amplifier performance, monitoring voltage, temperature and output to ensure uninterrupted power output for non-stop listening.

Uninterrupted Protection Circuits: If the amplifier gets too hot, the Thermal Protection circuit kicks in and gradually decreases output power until it cools down. Once cool, the power output automatically increases back to the previous level. If the circuit detects a Low Battery condition, it will gradually decrease power output if battery voltage becomes too low. Once the battery voltage increases, power will be restored. This interruption-free design allows for non-stop enjoyment with no hiccups or drop-outs, just clean, clear output.

Monoblock Design: The Alpine PDX-M6 is a monoblock subwoofer amplifier designed specifically to handle low frequencies between 5 and 400 Hz.

Low Impedance Stability: This amp is stable at low impedances and is capable of its rated power (600-watts x 1-channel) from 2 to 4 ohms. This allows excellent flexibility with multiple speaker and subwoofer loads and is adjusted automatically.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The PDX-M6's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.

  • 4-ohm Load: 600 watts x 1-channel in 4-ohms @ 20 to 400 Hz with 1% THD+N
  • 2-ohm Load: 600 watts x 1-channel in 2-ohms @ 20 to 400 Hz with 1% THD+N

Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output of the individual amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (14.4 volts, 4 ohms).

Ultra-Wide Frequency Response: The Alpine PDX-M6 offers a super-wide, frequency range (5-400Hz) for unparallel sound quality and detail.

Ultra-Low Output Impedance: With ultra-low output impedance, the PDX-M6 offers extremely controlled, tight bass for unprecedented sound quality. The amplifier's Damping Factor is rated at >1,000.

High Signal-to-Noise: This amplifier is capable of  of S/N ratios up to 95dB S/N @ 1W, 123dB S/N at rated power for extremely clean, uncolored sound. The PDX amp delivers crystal clear music every time, without unwanted background noise or static.

Beefy Power Supply: The PDX amplifier's power supply delivers tremendous headroom with low distortion and noise. The PDX amplifier has an extremely high total system efficiency of ~80% (power supply is rated at >90%, output stage is rated >90%).

Stackable: The PDX series amplifiers are 20% thinner than previous models at only 2" thick. A newly designed stacking system packs the amps closer together so there are no gaps and to save space in the trunk while directly coupling the amps heatsinks to help share cooling duties.

Notes: When stacking multiple amplifiers, do not install vertically or at an incline. Any stack installation other than parallel to the vehicle floor, invalidates the warranty.

LED: The top mounted LED Power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on.

Controls

Hidden Controls: The Alpine PDX amplifier's controls are hidden behind a decorative front-panel. The front-panel is removed by unscrewing one machine screw with the supplied hex key and then prying the front panel open.

Gain Control: The PDX-M6 provides independent rotary controls for the front and rear channels to set the amplifier's gain according to the level of the incoming signal. The gain settings is continuously variable from 0.1V to 8.0V.

Subsonic Filter: Also called an infrasonic filter, a subsonic filter cuts off extremely low bass (below the range of human hearing) that many speakers cannot effectively reproduce, thereby making the amp's power supply and output devices, and the speaker, more efficient. The subsonic filter can either be set to 30Hz, 15Hz or Off.

Low Pass Filter: The amplifier features a built-in Low Pass Filter with a rotary, variable adjustment knob which permits adjustment of the crossover frequency, by rotating the knob to select any frequency between 50 to 400 Hz (-24 dB/oct) as the crossover point.

Wired Remote (optional): Simply add Alpine's wired remote control (500RUXKNOB, sold separately), and get full control from the front of your vehicle for remote bass adjustments. You also have the ability to control multiple amps from just one controller with simple telephone cord adapters (also sold separately).

Connections

Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side.

Quick Connect Plugs: The PDX series amplifier uses quick connect plugs to attach your system's speaker wires and power cables to the amp for a simple, error-free installation.

Quick Connect Speaker Terminals: The Alpine PDX-M6 includes a quick connect high-power speaker terminal. Bare speaker wire, up to 8 gauge, is held in place by two screw-clamps on the quick connector. The speaker terminal quick connector then plugs into the amplifier.

Quick Connect Battery Terminals: The removable battery terminal quick connector features a low-loss, high-current design. It accepts up to 4GA wire for power and ground, to ensure your amp gets the power it needs while allowing for easy installation. The remote-turn on lead will accept up 12 gauge wire. The power, ground, and remote-turn on lead are secured by set-screws on quick connector. The battery terminal quick connector then plugs into the amplifier.

Line Level Input: The Alpine PDX-M6 is equipped with two gold-plated female RCA jacks.

Line Level Output: In addition to the line inputs, the PDX-M6 has non-fading left and right female RCA outputs for extra system flexibility, so you can daisy-chain a second PDX monoblock amplifier.

Fuses: The Alpine PDX-M6 is equipped with four 20-amp ATO fuses.

Hi, I currently own an Alpine MRV-M500 that powers two JL Audio 10W3v3-4's(wired in parallel) in a sealed enclosure. I like the PDX-M6 for the extra power, but I also notice it has a subsonic filter - the MRV does not have this filter. So my question is, do I need a subsonic filter? Would I notice the difference if I used one? Thanks in advance.
[ Karl  Mar 06, 2017 ]
1 answer
A
The filter can be in the off position or 15Hz or 30Hz. If you set it at 15Hz it will roll off 15Hz and lower to minimize the amount of power your amp is wasting trying to produce sounds you can't hear. Even if you set it at 30Hz it slowly rolls off below that, so you will still hear 25Hz, but the volume will start to reduce on those low tones. Mine is set at 15Hz.

Hello, I was looking at the big brother of this amp to run my W7 from JL Audio. will this amp run 3 ohms safely? and what is the power rating at 12Volts? or is it able to maintain its power all the way down to 11Volts like the HD amps JL Audio builds?

I got one of these off a friend It didn't have the terminal connectors I saldered in 8gauge wire to the positive negative on circuit board it works but it really isn't pushing 600 watts could this be cause the terminals are important factor or could it be adjustment issue power issue I seen it's rated 600w at 14.4 volts that's next to impossible for me to achieve in my vehicle. Also could it be that the rux knob was turned down then unpluged?
