About the Alpine R-SB10V

Bob Bihlmayer

Double the fun

Alpine has been pumping out great sound for over 40 years, and now their Halo Series subwoofer enclosures make it easier to add more bass to your system. You'll get the low end you're looking for from one box, but when you want to expand your system, you can add a second enclosure and the optional linking kit to create a single two-speaker system with double the impact.

Dishing it out

The R-SB10V comes loaded with Alpine's R-W10D4 subwoofer wired for 2-ohm impedance. The sub's Kevlar-reinforced cone and Santoprene surround give you solid bass response at power levels up to 750 watts RMS. The ported enclosure is tuned to 36 Hz to maximize performance.

Getting it together

Two R-SB10V enclosures can be linked using Alpine's KTX-H10 linking kit (sold separately). Heavy-duty steel front and rear linking brackets connect the enclosures for a compact, sturdy dual-subwoofer solution. The silver linking brackets match the enclosure trim for a neat, coordinated look.

Features

Driver: The Alpine R-SB10V loaded enclosure features a single R-W10D4 12", dual 4Ω voice coil subwoofer driver. Based on Alpine's legendary Type-R subwoofers, the new R-Series driver features a Kevlar-treated cone with Santoprene surround, allowing the driver to deliver up to 19mm of X-max travel. This, along with a new method of attaching the spider and cone to the voice coil, provides superior rigidity to the motor structure, allowing for increased accuracy. Both 4Ω voice coils are wired in parallel for a single 2Ω connection.

Power Handling: The R-SB10V can handle up to 750W RMS.

Enclosure: The R-SB10V's ported enclosure design has been optimized for use with the R-W10D4 driver, and has been tuned to 36Hz for deep, powerful bass. It features a rigid, heavy-duty MDF construction that's been wrapped in attractive black carpet, with a smooth black finish and silver trim on the front face.

Enclosure Linking (Optional): The R-SB10V's unique design allows it to be linked to an additional R-SB10V (sold separately) using the optional KTX-H10 linking kit. This features an aluminum rear link-plate and an attractive, steel-reinforced ABS front linking bracket that securely locks the two enclosures together.

Terminals: A single rear-panel terminal cup houses a pair of binding posts for connection, accepting up to 12 ga. speaker wire. Both of the driver's voice coils are wired in parallel for a single 2Ω load.

Specifications:

  • Driver: Single 10"
  • Impedance: 2Ω (dual 4Ω voice coils paralleled)
  • Power Handling: 750W RMS
  • Enclosure: Ported
  • Frequency Response: 26-200Hz
  • Port Tuning: 36Hz
  • Dimensions: W = 15.875", H = 12.750", Depth = 15.0"

Customer Q&A

Q
When 2 subs are linked, is it still a 2ohm load? Typically when you two 4 ohm subs you can do 1ohm or 4ohm
david  Sep 13, 2023
1 answer
A
Each of the R-SB10V sub/enclosures presents a 2-ohm total impedance. When connecting two, you'll either achieve a 1-ohm or 4-ohm impedance (more likely you'll want 1-ohm if you're using a mono sub amplifier to power both subs). In regard to your comment on connecting two 4-ohm subs, I would add that this is only the case when using two dual 4-ohm voice coil subs. Two single voice coil 4-ohm subs would connect for a 2-ohm load. However, this will not be the case with the R-SB10V since the subs used are dual 4-ohm voice coil.

Q
I bought 2 of these and an Alpine R2-A150M what is the final Impendance of this set up?
daniel  Aug 16, 2023
1 answer
A
When two of these are wired in parallel, they will present a final or combined load of 1 ohm to an amp. When connected to the R2-A150M amp, it will output 1500 watts RMS (750 watts RMS to each sub) making it an excellent match.

Q
Does this woofer have dual 2 ohm coils or 2. 4 ohm coils wired to 2 ohm. I need a 1 ohm woofer?
keith  Jul 12, 2022
1 answer
A
This enclosure is loaded with the R-W10D4, which is a 4-ohm DVC subwoofer. The two voice coils of this sub are wired in parallel to achieve a 2-ohm nominal impedance. It cannot achieve a 1-ohm impedance. For help with matching subs and amps, please give our advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695.

You can that's how I hooked mine up works great
gilberto  Jun 09, 2021
A
You can use banana plugs but works great without them
justin  Jun 09, 2021
A
Just bare speaker wire, they're spring loaded terminals. Strip, twist, and insert.

Q
What is the actual width when you combine 2?
eugene  Apr 08, 2021
2 answers
A
That width should be the length of each doubled based on the way they are joined together using the kit. We measured each to be 15-7/8" wide so the width of two joined together as one box is 31-3/4" wide
jason  May 08, 2021 (Staff)
A
Roughly 30 inches by 12 high by 15 deep

Q
How do you make sure that the Alpine symbols are the same direction? When you want to connect two together the Alpine symbols are not oriented the same.
wilthesage  Jul 10, 2020

A
You just rotate the Alpine symbols the other way around.
