About the Alpine RUX-KNOB.2

Buck Pomerantz

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Tweak the subwoofer volume from the driver's seat

The RUX-KNOB.2 remote level controller works with Alpine's amplifiers so you can manage your bass level from the front of your vehicle. This handy little knob adjusts your amp's level from its set maximum volume all the way down to virtually "off." Since it adjusts level and not "bass boost," you'll maintain the same bass tone as you turn the volume up and down. You can control multiple amplifiers with a single remote by adding a standard phone cable splitter (not included).

Product highlights:

  • remote level controller for Alpine amplifiers
    • mono amps
    • sub channel of 5-channel amps
    • bridged channels 3/4 of the X-A70F
  • adjusts gain from 0 to -12 dB
  • multi-amp capable (standard phone cable splitter required — not included)
  • 16' connection cable
  • warranty: 1 year
  • MFR # RUX-KNOB.2

What's in the box:

  • Alpine Remote Bass Level Control module
  • 16.4' (5 meter) connecting cable (RJ-14 plugs on both ends)
  • 4 Self-tapping screws (Length 1/2")

Q
Your Harman RBC controller is on backorder. Will this knob work on the JBL Basspro 12 system? It appears as if the amp has the phone jack style connection. Just want to make sure they are all compatible.
josh  Sep 17, 2023
1 answer
A
Although both remotes use RJ-14 connectors, the RUX-KNOB.2 is not designed to be used with amps/powered subs from other brands.

Q
If I'm using the RUX, where should I set the gain on my sub channel? Flat, Max?
chris  Jul 17, 2023
1 answer
A
When setting the gain on your amp, the knob should be turned all the way up. You should then set the gain as usual. This knob functions by reducing bass when turned counterclockwise. When turned all the way up, it simply allows the full output of the amplifier in accordance with the setting of the gain knob. Do NOT turn the gain to max as this could lead to distortion or a blown sub.

Q
i have an alpine pdx-v9, will this only control the sub output, or will it control all 5 channels?
nicholas  Jun 29, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Nicholas, and thank you for your question. This controller is just for the bass level, not all channels.

chris  Mar 21, 2022

Will this work with non-alpine amplifiers?
michael  Nov 20, 2020

We have tested to check its compatibility with other brand amps and recommend locating a controller that is rated to work with your amp. We carry other controllers and have advisors that you can reach by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check if we have one for your amp.

Q
does this knob work with Alpine S-A60M?
darien  Jun 21, 2020
2 answers
A
Yes this knob will work with the A60M. You can confirm this by reviewing the amps Product Highlights area. This knob is a must have unless your amp is in your lap (which Im sure it's not).
arthur  Jun 21, 2020
A
These are a must for any amp running bases speakers. Easy to install and adjust base volume on the fly.
gary  Jun 21, 2020
Q
Can this be wired to control the volume of my Alpine head unit?
jr  May 17, 2020
3 answers
A
Although it might not matter either way; you did not include your model head unit in your question. Since this appears to be a potentiometer style controller, it is unlikely to work with any modern style head unit as a volume control. Unless your unit has specifications to work with this knob in such a fashion, it will not work. Long story short, no. It does work great in attenuating the output of an Alpine MRV-M500 though.
ryan  May 21, 2020
A
This is used to adjust the input level to an amp. I use mine on a sub amp to attenuate the amount of bass as the levels vary with different songs and different recordings, etc. Now I'm curious, may I ask why you would want to adjust the volume of a head unit with this as opposed to just using the head unit's volume knob?
tommy  May 17, 2020
A
I only used the control to adjust the bass so unfortunately I can't help
allan  May 17, 2020
Q
Does the knob come with the cable wire if not what other knobs and wire are alike too this one? Looking too connect too alpine MRV-M500
jorge  Feb 17, 2020
4 answers
A
Yes it comes with the cable. It is plenty long enough as well for 99% of vehicles. Definitely worth having in the system
harley  Feb 20, 2020
A
yes it comes with wire. I don't remember if it is 6 or 10 or more feet of wire but it should be enough for most applications. with the alpine rux knob it does not take the place of gain like in some other rux knobs, but instead it allows you to use full gain where it is set or turns it down from there. so if you want to use it to turn up bass for music with less bass you'll have to set your gain higher and use the knob to turn down bass for punchier music.
joseph  Feb 17, 2020
A
Comes with the wire
gary  Feb 17, 2020
A
When I ordered it, it come with the cable, so I would assume it will still come with the cable. And I'm using this with my Alpine MRV-M500 Hope this helps

Q
Does this work with the MRV-F450?
chris  Jun 02, 2019
1 answer
A
Unfortunately, Chris, Alpine RUX-KNOB.2 isn't a compatible option for the Alpine MRV-F450 amp. I did some research on the MRV-F450, and I'm not seeing an option for a compatible remote with that amp. Feel free to reach out to us by chat online, or by phone, we'll be happy to help. 1-800-324-9695

Q
Need a bass knobs that will connect to planet audio big bang 4000 watts amp?
toriano  May 28, 2019
2 answers
A
That bass knob uses a proprietary connection specific to Alpine amps. I don't have anything specific to Planet Audio but if you have it connected via RCA cables you could use a universal level controls like this EFX: https://bit.ly/31q0iFe

I bought it because it was made for Alpine amps. Using it for a different manufacture is taking a chance that it might not work. Check to see if the manufacturer of you amp has an bass controller.

Q
Can the unit be disassembled for flush mounting?
rodney  Mar 02, 2019
3 answers
A
The Unit comes with two removable Brackets attached to it's sides. They can be removed by removing one screw, each. I mounted the Unit as is, just inside of a compartment opening below the Radio. I don't think you can take the housing off for a flush mount. This is about all that I can assist with regarding flush mounting. Al
alton  Mar 07, 2019

The two little L shaped brackets unscrew on each side. But it does not come with any other brackets to mount it with.
alexis  Mar 07, 2019
A
Yes. I've installed mine through the dash from and all that is visible is the knob.
