About the Alpine R-W10D2
Maximum bass output
Maximum bass output
For those who like it loud, Alpine salutes you! Their legendary R-Series subwoofers are made to bring powerful bass to just about any vehicle. The R-W10D2 10" sub features a cone made from Kevlar® treated pulp — the same material used to make bulletproof vests — while its durable Santoprene™ surround allows for huge amounts of excursion. Alpine built this sub for bassheads who want the best of both worlds: accurate response and otherworldly thump.
Bring on the power
The R-W10D2 can handle up to 750 watts RMS, so be sure to choose a suitable amplifier as these bass monsters definitely want lots of power. Its dual oversized 2-ohm voice coils offer wiring flexibility you'll appreciate as your system changes and grows, so you can always pull maximum power from your amp. It works well in sealed and ported enclosures so you can choose what kind of bass you want to hear and feel.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 560 and 1125 watts RMS at 1 or 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Alpine R-W10D2 reviews
Bought this to replace my blown re audio sub and the performance and sound is much better than my previous 10" sub. Albeit I do have it wired to 1000w @1ohm, it handles it very well, and the performance is outstanding. Very clean, precise, and powerful. The build quality is exceptional and I appreciate the wiring connectors that are provided free to parallel wire the sub. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this sub and will consider alpine again for future sub purchases.
Pros: Precise, powerful, hits deep
Cons: A bit heavy, but to be expected of such quality materials. Only matters because my car is so light

Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine R-Series subwoofer has a parabolic, Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an inverted polypropylene/mica/talc dust cap, which increases rigidity.
HAMRS: The woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of rubber, that allows a large linear excursion and greater SPL. The HAMRS design allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area.
Progressive Spider: The progressive spider has reinforced layer tinsel leads to ensure reliable and consistent control of the tinsel leads and eliminate any mechanical noise or interference often seen in high excursion cone designs.
Compound Radius Curve Pole Geometry: Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensures a symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to reduce distortion and further improve power handling and output.
Oversized Voice Coil: The oversized (65mm), high-temperature, 4-layer dual voice coils increase the sub's power handling.
Dual Voice Coils: For system flexibility, the woofer has two 2Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.
Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 gauge, pin connectors, or single banana plugs.
Jumpers: Included with the woofer are two voice coil terminal jumpers. These jumpers allow you to easily wire the voice coils in parallel (for a 1Ω load) or series (for a 4Ω load).
Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume ranges from 0.48 cubic feet to 0.93 cubic feet, with 0.58 cubic feet being the ideal size. (The volume in the manual is given as net, before accounting for the displacement of the subwoofer when installed.)
Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume ranges from 1.03 cubic feet to 1.58 cubic feet. The ideal size is 1.3 cubic feet, using a slot port measuring 10" (Width) x 1" (Height) x 17" (Length). (The volume in the manual is given as net, before accounting for the displacement of the subwoofer and slot port.)
