Your amp will sound better than the factory system

You can make a less-than-ideal factory system actually sound premium by upgrading the weak factory amplifier with a more powerful aftermarket amp. PAC's AmpPRO interface consists of a module and a vehicle-specific T-harness that make the job much easier. Now, you can install an amplifier of your own without losing any of your vehicle's factory audio features like warning chimes, navigation prompts, and Bluetooth functions.

Simple to install

The package's T-harness plugs into the factory radio and vehicle harness. The small module fits behind the dash, converting your radio's speaker outputs into six preamp-level outputs ready for connection to your amp. The factory amplifier needs to be left connected in the vehicle. The factory radio controls, such as volume, balance, and fade, will work as before for your front and rear speakers. A separate wired remote level control lets you adjust the volume of the subwoofer channels from your front seat. An optional add-on module, PAC's APA-TOS1 adapter, provides an optical digital output for your high-end digital processors and amplifiers to handle.

An app for tweakers

After downloading the AmpPRO PC App and connecting to your Windows-run PC via USB, you can access the factory 3-band parametric equalizer (EQ) and customize the tone of your system to perfection. The app also lets you adjust chime volume, the system's minimum volume level, and update the product firmware when needed.

Important Note: This AmpPRO interface simplifies the installation of a car amplifier (not included). You'll also need to purchase anything required to install your new amp: an amp wiring kitspeaker wire (to replace factory wiring), and RCA cables

More details on the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 Aftermarket Amplifier Interface

Product Research

Features

Amplifier Integration Interface: The PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2) simplifies the installation of aftermarket amplifiers in select Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati, & Ram vehicles, both with and without factory amplifiers. (Please enter your vehicle information to confirm compatibility.) With the AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2), you can improve your vehicle's audio performance while keeping the original radio's fit, finish, and features.

  • Amplified Vehicles: Compatible with all data-bus controlled amplified systems, no matter the screen size (including the new 12" screen). To identify these systems, look for logos on door speakers, tweeters, dash speakers or the subwoofer to confirm if the vehicle has a compatible amplified system; such as Alpine, Beats or Harman Kardon. Some vehicles may not always have branded compatible systems. Unbranded amplified systems are generally identified by locating a center channel speaker or subwoofer.
  • Non-Amplified Vehicles: If you are installing the AmpPRO in a vehicle that is not equipped with a factory amplifier, you must add an amplifier to the vehicle's speakers, as the factory radio will no longer have a 4 channel variable output after it has been re-configured by the AmpPRO. For example, this will not work to add only a subwoofer to a non-amplified vehicle, as the radio will no longer power the cabin speakers properly. Non-amplified vehicles equipped with an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system require the ANC module to be bypassed. This can be done manually or with the ANC bypass harness (sold separately). Click here to see how to tell the difference between an amplifier and an ANC module and for module locations.

Note: The factory radio and factory amplifier (when equipped) must remain connected in the vehicle and be operational in order to use the PAC AmpPRO interface.

Vehicle Compatibility: The PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2) amplifier integration interface is compatible with select versions of the following 2013-2022 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati, & Ram vehicles.

Make Model Year Trim Level
Chrysler 200 2015-2017 All

Jeep Wrangler 2018-2022 JL
Wrangler 2021-2022 4XE
Wrangler Unlimited 2018-2022 JL
Gladiator 2020-2022 All
Cherokee 2015-2021 All
Grand Cherokee 2022 WK
Grand Cherokee 2014-2021 All
Maserati Quattroporte 2017 All
Levante 2018 All
Ram Ram Truck 2013-2021 All
Ram Truck 2022 Non-Classic

Notes:

  • Jeep Cherokee, Chrysler 200, and Maserati vehicles must be equipped with a factory amplifier as the AP4-CH41 (R.2) cannot reprogram the factory radio to think that an amplifier is present.
  • In non-amplified vehicles, the AmpPRO is only compatible in vehicles equipped with the 7" or 8" factory radio screens; except for the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator which is supported for 5", 7", and 8" factory radio screen models.
  • 2019 Ram Trucks (non-Classic), 2015-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2017-2019 Pacifica vehicles have an ANC module that will need to be bypassed.

6Ch Pre-Outs: The PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2) provides a 6-channel pre-amp output for use with aftermarket amplifiers. Using the full-range, fixed level factory radio output the AP4-CH41 (R.2) delivers a variable 5V RMS pre-amp output with fading, balance, equalization, and level control capabilities.

Non-Fading Level Control Knob: Channels 5-6 (Sub) of the AP4-CH41 (R.2) are non-fading outputs. The output level of channels 5-6 can be controlled using the supplied level control knob. The level control knob comes with a 6' cable which plugs into the interface module and should be mounted in an accessible location.

Data Controlled Remote Turn-On: A data controlled remote amplifier turn on wire is also provided by the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2). The remote turn-on current is rated at 2-amps. If more current is needed an external relay must be used.

Retained Factory Audio Features: The PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2) also retains all audio from other vehicle features such as factory Navigation Prompts, Bluetooth, uConnect, and Warning Chimes.

Minimum & Chime Volume: If the minimum volume of your factory radio is too loud once the AP4-CH41 (R.2) is installed, you can manually set the level of the minimum volume using either the programming button on the side of the interface or the factory SWC (Steering Wheel Controls) in conjunction with the supplied level control knob. You can also use AmpPRO PC app. You can also adjust the chime volume level.

AmpPRO PC App: Using the AmpPRO PC App (for Windows PC only) allows you to configure user interface options such as Minimum Volume Level, Chime Volume Level, and a 3-Band EQ from your Windows computer or laptop. The app can also be used to update product firmware.

  • Minimum & Chime Volume Level: From the app you can set the minimum volume level of the factory radio, as well as the chime volume level.
  • 3-Band EQ: Enables the 3-band EQ (Bass-Mid-Treble) with frequency and Q-factory adjustment. The Bass Frequency can be set to 60, 80, 100, or 120Hz; while the Bass Q-Factor can be set to 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0. The Mid Frequency can be set to 500, 1k, 1.5k, or 2.5k; while the Mid Q-Factor can be set to 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, or 1.5. The Treble Frequency can be set to 7.5k, 10k, 12.5k, or 15k; while the Treble Q-Factory can be set to 0.75 or 1.25.
  • Firmware: The AmpPRO app will also allow you to update the interface with new firmware as it becomes available.
Note: These AmpPRO PC App settings can be adjusted with the module installed in the vehicle or on the bench. However, it is recommended to make the adjustments with the module installed, and the factory radio on so that the changes can be heard.

Dip Switch: Set dip switch 2 to "ON" to lower the RCA output voltage to 4V. Set the dip switch 2 "OFF" to keep the RCA output voltage at 5V. Dip switches 1-3-4 are not used.

Optional Toslink Add-On Module: When used in conjunction with PAC's APA-TOS1 (541APATOS1; sold separately), the AP4-CH41 (R.2) can provide a variable 2-channel fiber optic digital audio output (toslink). Toslink fiber-optical cable also sold separately.

Optional Amplifier Harness: The APH-CH01 installation harness (541APHCH01, sold separately) simplifies speaker wire connections when using one the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 (R.2) to add an aftermarket amplifier or amplifiers in select vehicles that feature factory amplified sound systems. The APH-CH01 keeps you from having to cut or modify your vehicle's original factory wiring, providing a direct connection at the vehicle's original factory amplifier location (you will need to make hardwire connections at the aftermarket amplifier/s).

Q
why do some box say AP4-CH41 R.2 and some boxes don't say R.2?
shellz  Mar 16, 2024

A
Greetings Nigel. Thank you for your question. (r.2) is the newer version of the AP4-CH41. It supports both factory amplified systems, and also non factory amplified systems. The original version only worked on factory amplified systems.

Q
I have a 2022 Ram 2500 Tradesman with 8.4 screen. No Alpine system. No HK system. Do I have a factory amp installed?
j2thesea  Jan 10, 2024

A
We need to know your cab style and total speaker count (10 or 6 with the non-premium trim) to confirm any details, Joshua. Please use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your exact details, and we can list parts that fit your vehicle. Pulling up our info on the Crew Cab with 6-speaker system and 8.4" radio, the PAC AmpPro AP4-CH41 is compatible and would also need the PAC APH-CH42 amp install harness in the second link below. Keep in mind that aftermarket amplifier(s) (sold separately) must be used along with this package. The factory stereo will no longer power any speakers directly. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541APHCH42/PAC-APH-CH42-AmpPro-Harness.html

Q
I have a 2017 Jeep grand Cherokee with no Harmon/Kardon setup. A shop installed this for me to power 4 channel amp for front and rear mids and a monoblock for a 10inch sub but the subwoofer doesn't really work with music. Anything to specifically look for? I noticed something they said to keep factory speaker wires plugged in and noticed my rear speakers are straight from the amp to speakers, that wouldn't be the issue would it?

A
Greetings Jordan. Sorry you are having issues. If you had purchased this from Crutchfield, I would refer you to call our tech support line. To me it does not sound like its all connected properly or could be some type of defect as well. Only thing that comes to mind is if its just the subwoofer not working, the vehicle could have active noise canceling. If thats the case and it was not bypassed, its going to cancel out the frequencies from your sub.

Q
Do I need to buy this if I want to bypass the anc module or can I just buy the anc bypass harness?
brian  Nov 12, 2023
1 answer
A
It is possible to simply use the ANC bypass harness. However, depending on the nature of your project, it may be preferable to also use the AP4-CH41. Our advisors can provide personalized assistance via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
I have a 2020 2500 ram and I am installing the pac ap4-ch41 (r.2) with the bypass for the ANC . I want to install 2 12" subs with a two channel amp and another 4 channel amp for my speakers. I don't know if I have to run my wires from my 4 channel to the speaker connection harness that the pac Ap4- ch41 (r.2) comes with or just run them straight to my speakers? Also I know I have to use the (sub) RCA (on pac module) for my sub amp. What RCA do I use for my 4 Chanel (speaker) amp on the pac module? Also my truck non amplified.
austin  Oct 05, 2023
1 answer
A
Depending on the output wattage of your 4-channel amplifier, it may be possible to simply connect the speaker outputs of the amplifier to the speaker wire connections of the AP4-CH41. However, if your amplifier is rather powerful (around 100 w RMS or more per channel), then it will be ideal to run wire directly from the amplifier to your speakers. As for which RCA connections to use for the 4-channel amplifier, I would recommend using the four remaining RCA connections left over after connecting the subwoofer amplifier.

Q
I have a amp for a sub and a 4 channel amp for the 4 new kicker 6x9 i want in my vehicle I also have 2 new 3.5s for the front deck will I need anything else to get the subs and speakers connected also if I wanted to have the 2 3.5s powered by my 4 channel amp what would this look like?
trevyn  Sep 21, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Trevyn. Thank you for your question. This PAC amp pro interface has 6 channel preamp outputs for your 4 channel, and subwoofer amp. What else you need would be the amp wiring kits of course, RCA cables from the PAC interface to your amps, and if the 3.5s are going to run off the 4 channel as well, they would be parallel wired with the front door speakers, and you should be using a bass blocking filter for them.

Q
I'm waiting on my AP4-CH41; how do identify the wires on the speaker harness to make sure they connect to the correct channels on the amp?
kevin  Apr 22, 2023
1 answer
A
These wires follow a standard wire color scheme for aftermarket audio equipment: white = front left, gray = front right, green = rear left, violet = rear right. Solid colors denote positive polarity, and black stripes denote negative polarity.

Installed in a 2022 wrangler jlu, works great for the two alpine pod speakers I added but factory speakers stopped working, any ideas how I can fix it? Has stock sound system from factory
chase  Mar 29, 2023

A
This PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 interface changes all speaker-level outputs to line-level RCA. It is not capable of sending just signal for a sub and keeping your factory speakers. You will need to add a 4-channel amp to power your full-range speakers. The Alpine Power Pack KTA-450 in the link below is always my top choice in these situations, small size and stellar performance! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTA450/Alpine-KTA-450-Power-Pack.html

I have a 2022 Ram 2500 with the 8.4" non-amplified system. Will this interface retain the factory fade, balance and tone controls?
william  Mar 21, 2023
1 answer
A
If you have the 8.4" screen in your 2022 RAM you still have an amplifier that is powering your speakers, you just may not have the Harman Kardon Audio system. This interface will retain your factory fade, balance, and tone controls. You will also need the car specific t-harness that goes along with this interface: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541APHCH42/PAC-APH-CH42-AmpPro-Harness.html.

I have a 2015 dodge durango with factory uconnect stereo i installed an lc2i and aftermarket amp i tried running mids and high speakers but i got clipping what would be the cause of it and what do i need to stop them from clipping?
gio254  Feb 19, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Gio, and thank you for your question. Starting in 2015 Chrysler radios need to have a load presented to the radios built in amplifier. If you disconnect speakers from the radio, that load is no longer there. Radios then either just shut off, or clip. Could be as simple as just adding load generating devices in line, or a signal processor that also handles generating that load. The Audio Control LC2i Pro, has the load select switches. For more help with this, please call one of our advisors at 800-324-9695.

Can the single remote wire be used to turn two amps on and off? If so, what is the process?
steven  Jan 22, 2023

A
Greetings Steven, and thank you for your question. single remote wires can turn on two amplifiers. Aftermarket stereos have just the one remote wire, and they have a 12 volt signal out as well. Our technical support staff can help you with the wiring when it comes time. You will have a direct Crutchfield tech support number on your shipping confirmation email. We support products purchased with us for life.

I have a 2022 Ram 1500 with the 12 inch screen and the 19 speaker HK system. I just want to add a sub and retain all the other speakers, or eliminate to facorty sub. Do I absolutely NEED this along with the CH-42 just to add a sub? Looking to do a JL JD500/1 amp to a single JL 10TW3.
red22trx  Jan 12, 2023
1 answer
A
That PAC combination would replace the entire Harman Kardon system so if all you are looking to do is add a subwoofer and retain everything else then you would not need it. You can get a line output converter to tap into the stock system for signal so it can work at the same time as everything else. We have friendly advisors that can help you pick out the right products for your truck so please give us a call at 800.324.9695 and we will get you taken care of!

Can you use this the Kenwood ar600-DSP amplifier instead or a Maestro AR? I have the Dodge Charger with the Alpine 6 speaker system but have the amplifier already...
corey  Jan 10, 2023
1 answer
A
You cannot swap in the Pac AmpPRO AP4-CH41 interface sadly, Corey. If you have the fantastic Kenwood AR600-DSP amp on hand you will most likely need the AR module in the first link below paired with the iDatalink HRN-AR-CH2 harness in the second link for connection signal wise to your Charger if it is the 15-16 6-speaker Alpine system. If you only have the amp on hand, don't forget to also grab a 4-gauge Crutchfield wiring kit in the third link. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMAR/iDatalink-Maestro-AR-Amplifier-Replacement-Module.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HARCH2/iDatalink-HRN-AR-CH2-Harness.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK4/Crutchfield-CK4.html

The rear speakers in my 18â?? ram 2500 stopped working. Would I be able to use this to add an amp and get my rear speakers working again? Iâ??m thinking the amp built into the uconnect system is unit is blown for the rear channel
zac  Dec 20, 2022
1 answer
A
If you are having issues with your OEM amp Zac, then the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 is a good call. These do only work on the factory amplified systems with 8.4" screen radios and are a great call for folks that want great sound and to keep the original radio. You will need to add an amp to power all speakers. We also recommend upgrading to new speakers if yours are original as the new amp will be too powerful for factory speakers. If you need help choosing a package, don't hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-316-3061 and an Advisor can help!

zac  Dec 20, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Zacjack, and thank you for your question. This PAC AmpPRO interface would essentially bypass the factory amplifier, but would work for what you need it to do, just re amplify all the speakers then at that point. And I would highly recommend replacing the speakers as well. Aftermarket amplifiers are going to have more power than the factory amp had, and more than what a factory speaker can handle. If it were me, I would attempt replacing the rear speakers first, and if you still have no sound, its the factory amplifier. Your also going to need a vehicle specific T harness for that AmpPRO, but we should have that for the 2018 RAM.

I'D LIKE TO ADD A 4-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER TO MY 2020 DODGE CHALLENGER GT (NON-AMPLIFIED). IS THIS THE R.2 VERSION?
joshua  Oct 26, 2022

That PAC adapter is the R.2 version but we do have different PAC adapters that are compatible with the 2020 non-amplified version of the Challenger. If you give us a call at 800.324.9695 on of our advisors can show you the ones we have to allow to you install a 4 channel amp.

Q
If I use this along with audiocontrol dm810 dsp, which bass knob should I use? The one with the amp pro or the one with the dm810? Does it matter? My sub amp has one too lol. I'm not sure what's best option. Thanks
erik  Jul 20, 2022
1 answer
A
In this situation it would be ideal to use the knob for either the DM-810 or the sub amp. We typically do not want to change the input signal strength going into a DSP such as the DM-810. Doing so can throw off the settings of your DSP. For this reason we would not use the bass knob for the PAC. Adjusting the subwoofer volume out of the DSP or on the subwoofer amplifier would be a much better choice.

Why do my factory speakers not work anymore after installing the AP4-CH41 Kit with 6 aftermarket speakers and aftermarket amp in my Jeep Wrangler 2020 JL Willys?
trevor  Jul 11, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Trevor, and thank you for your question. My guess is the signal from your radio is now going thru the PAC Amp Pro and out to your new amplifier, and new speakers. Somewhere in the line the signal is no longer getting to your factory speakers. We do have tech support for our customers. If you purchased this from us, your invoice email will have a direct number to call into our tech line. If you purchased this elsewhere, you should be able to get help direct from PAC as well. Their number is 727-592-5991.

Q
Does this add any sound quality over other alternatives or just ease of installation?
patrick  Jul 08, 2022
1 answer
A
This PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 is absolutely the easiest solution with a factory radio, Patrick! This unit does offer signal summing, and you do have some tuning capabilities with the AmpPRO PC app. You will need to connect your Windows based laptop via USB to tune, but you'll have a 3-Band EQ,(Bass-Mid-Treble) with frequency and Q-factory adjustment. You can also select your output RCA voltage, OR connect an option Toslink optical output adapter I've linked below if you go big on your amp setup! The PAC AP4-CH41 isn't just a looker, it also performs! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541APATOS1/PAC-APA-TOS1.html?tp=6348

I have 2013 ram uconnect non alpine. I want to connect a 5 channel amp. After I connect the amp pro and get the rca output for the amp. Do I have to run each speaker cable to the amp ??
gerardo  Mar 29, 2022
2 answers
A
You will need to run the RCA cables, and a remote turn on wire if you are using one, from the Amppro to the amp. Then you will need to connect speaker wires from the amp to each speaker. I have the Alpine system, so I purchased the additional wiring harness Amppro offers to bypass the factory Alpine amp. That allowed me to run speaker wires from my amp and tap in to the existing speaker wires all in one place at the bypassed factory amp. I don't know if there is a similar option for non-Alpine systems. One other tip, make sure to disconnect the battery anytime you are doing something with the Amppro. I was making a quick change to my system so I didn't take the time to disconnect the battery, and managed to fry it. If that happens, the entire Uconnect is dead (no radio, climate control, reverse camera, etc.) until you disconnect the Amppro.
jonathan  Mar 30, 2022
A
RCAs go into the amp for signal input but you'll still need to run speaker wire to the speakers somehow ... there may be a non amplified t harness available but if there isn't then you'll need to grab behind radio, grab in kick panels and b-pillars or run speaker wire directly to the speakers

I have a 2013 RAM 1500 8.4 non-Alpine system. Is this all I need to install an aftermarket amp and sub? Also is there a 3.5mm female adaptor for gain knob?

Yes this is the only thing you have to buy make sure you follow the instructions for setting up after install, the gain knob plugs into the back of the pac4 interface . If you use a amplifier with a gain knob you won't need the one that is with the pac4

I have an 2014 Ram with out the alpine system. Is the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 what i need to add aftermarket amps and sub?
sean  Jun 14, 2021

A
This PAC AmpPRO interface will work in your pickup to create the preamp outputs needed to install aftermarket amps. If you are only going to install an amp to power subs, then there is a different PAC interface that only creates the subwoofer preamp outputs found here: www.crutchfield.com/p_541APSCH41/item.html

I have a 2020 Challenger ScatPack 1320 and base 6 speaker stereo. I want to put my component speakers up front, rear deck speakers, a 10inch L7 sub, and a Rockford Fosgate 1000watt 5 channel amp. Is the PAC AmpPRO all I need to integrate the speakers, sub, and amp? I will also be running my own speaker wire for this. Thanks! Also, I do not want to lose the abilities of my 8.4 factory screen.
stephen  May 26, 2021
1 answer
A
This is compatible with the 6 speaker system that has that bigger 8.4" screen and will work to create the preamp outputs needed to supply the proper audio to the amp running your system. Nothing else is needed for that task. Just need the amp kit, RCA cables, etc... like needed when installing that to an aftermarket radio. The only ability that is lost is the ability for the stock radio to power any speakers itself; it loses no other abilities. Since you are completely changing the system, I know that one doesn't matter and this will work for you

The optional $30 harness plugs into the stock wiring that runs from the stock amp to all the speakers making it easy to use with a compatible after market amp. While its not necessary, it can help simplify the install

It would depend on the equipment you're running. The output from this provides one signal over fiberoptic that I then ran to a Audio Control DSP which then divides the signal and allows minute adjustments to each channel for ultimate tuning flexibility.

if you are using a dsp you shouldn't need resistors as long as you connect the dsp befor the stock amp, the amp pro does all of that in one package plug and play i havent had any issues and its running to 2x jl 12s and my rear doors
chad  Dec 29, 2020
A
You won't lose anything The PAC is necessary if not installing a DSP. May be a bit more intensive to install HU straight to DSP, wire by wire. PAC comes with harness that plugs directly into factory HU harness and allows you to run cable to amps instead of speaker wire. That's all I can think of

What exactly does Dip switch 1 do? It the manual it makes it non fading, but I guess I'm asking how does this effect output signal/gain/volume to amplifier?
michael  Dec 13, 2020
1 answer
A
I used the TOSLINK connection module, and dipswitch 1 is what you set to ensure 2 channel output (L & R). This of course makes it non-fading, but you adjust db levels for each channel as well as individual EQ's for each channel as well, so that wasn't a factor for me.

Your head unit works with the factory digital amp, this price bypasses the factory amp and all of the processing, to give you a true 4v output. With this piece you can still use the factory amp and speakers, or eliminate them all. Great for upgrading in small increments. Highly recommended!!

I installed this in my 2018 Ram 1500 sport and it works fine. The only issue is high line voltage had to turn down the gain on the amps or I would get this fuzzy / distortion sound that was pretty loud from my highs and mids. The other thing I do not like about the PAC AmPro 4 AP4-CH41 R.2 is the lowest LP is 60Hz. Most amps will go down to 50hz LP or lower so this module cuts anything off below 60Hz (the deep bass). I would assume PAC audio can fix this with a software update but they haven't I even called and asked them.

Just installed this on my 2019 JLU w/o premium sound system. Did all setup steps after install, sound only came out of sub and rear speakers and couldn't adjust the volume. In the troubleshooting section it says if that happen a powered amp is needed, so I installed a 4ch amp to factory speakers, now there is no sound whatsoever! Did I do something wrong?
adam  May 03, 2020
1 answer
A
You need to double-check the dip switches on the PAC AmpPRO. I would also recommend running your own speaker wire if you haven't done that already. I installed a 4-channel amp, (front and soundbar), along with this sub. (Also in a 2019 JLU Base System) Morel 603's upfront, kicker 2-ways in the soundbar. Head Unit > PAC AmpPRO - RCA from PAC AmpPRO to amp, RCA from PAC AmpPro to powered SUB. Speaker Wire - Speakers > amp Power - Battery > Distribution Block > 1 to amp, 1 to powered sub Ground - Scrape paint until you hit bare metal > distribution block > 1 to amp, 1 to powered sub I'd check the ground first, verify the screw holding the nut and cable are tight to the frame.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I will be adding another amplifier at another time.
edward  May 25, 2019

Yes you can, this is the best way to do that as it give a true 5v or 4v pre amp output to aftermarket amp. Also a clean 20hz to 20khz signal, with no bass roll off. This will also allow you to adjust bass/mid/treble center frequency and "Q" factor. PAC & Crutchfield customer service is top notch if you have install issues as well.
brandon  May 25, 2019
A
Yes you can, just follow the wiring diagram that comes with it and leave those speakers hooked up to the original amp. I left my three dash speakers hooked up to the original amp so that my navigation would still come through them.

This may not be a direct answer but it's what i was given and was glad i was convinced. The nice folks at crutchfield advised me to replace mids highs and the amp along with the new sub w/ amp. They said I won't be satisfied with only replacing sub and amp. Like I said I'm glad I did as my truck is transformed as the way I want it to sound now: You're spending the money so do it right . I also went away with the dash speakers and installed kenwood 7" mids for the door and put tweeters in the little door jam. If you want I can email you what I did

I think the head-unit to PAC AmpPro harness is about 18" and the remote volume knob is about 3'. I mounted the interface in the dash to the right of the head-unit and ran the knob down under the steering column on a 2016 Dodge Challenger.
dale  Dec 19, 2018

The wiring harness is roughly 14 to 16 inches pulled taught. Connected to everything it coils up nicely. If I remember correctly the volume control knob was 18 inches long. No more than 3ft though. I installed mine in the glove box, so there was plenty of slack. Great buy. I run two amps. 1@ 2600 watts for S.A. 12"s and the other runs two sets of components I installed as well. Hope this helps.
ryan  Dec 19, 2018

The wiring harness is plenty long~18" or so. The Volume control knob is not for volume but for bass level of the subwoofer. The cable is ~6' if memory serves correctly.

Wire harness is approximately 18 inches long maybe a little longer and the volume control wire is between 3 and 4 ft. I do not remember exactly but it is pretty long.

I have a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat with the Harman Kardon stereo. How does this unit deal with the center channel? Does this unit put out full range signals to the right/left/front/back outputs? If I decide to use the TOS link instead of the RCA cables, are the output options the same? thanks!
thomas  Jul 17, 2018
2 answers
A
I have a 2015 Dodge Ram crew cab with the 8.4 Uconnect, which is a Harman Kardon touch screen head unit, and the 9 speaker Alpine system. I used this device to basically get four full range RCA speaker outputs, front and rear, left and right. As far as my aftermarket subwoofer I let the amplifier crossover and gain control it, a Alpine PDX v9 5-channel amplifier with subwoofer remote. This device doesn't help you with the center Channel, I left mine hooked up to the factory amplifier, which I can barely hear over my new aftermarket system. And from the research I've done the toslink performs the same way as the RCA cables but I do not use the toslink at this point. So far this device works as advertised and with a laptop you can make changes to your equalizer frequencies and is firmware upgradeable with no loss of parking chime alerts or voice navigation prompts. After hours of research I came to the conclusion that this was the best way to sum the signals and achieve full range outputs for a aftermarket amplifier, due to the complexity of these newer Chrysler premium audio systems. Good luck and I hope this helps
james laurent  Jul 18, 2018
A
On the Challenger I installed this on it had the sound group II audio without the center channel, but this is an inline "T" device and should continue to work with the factory amp and center channel should get the signal from the factory amp. This unit puts out variable volume full range signals over the RCA's for the left / right / front / back with additional left and right for the sub if you use a 6 channel amp. I am not using the TOS link but I believe the documentation says it is only 2 channel which is intended for other digital processors before being connecting to amps. I think the instructions also say to leave the factory amp installed or it will not work right.

I'm interested in an aftermarket amp and and subwoofer for a 2016 Chrysler 300C and want to avoid cutting any wires and losing factory system functionality, if possible. Will this module allow me to upgrade the factory amp, add a subwoofer and keep all Chrysler functions? Thank you.

As long as your '16 Chrysler 300c is equipped with a data-bus controlled factory premium sound system, the PAC AmpPRO AP4-CH41 adapter will allow you to add an aftermarket amp while retaining the original radio's fit, finish, and features.
