Product Research

Features

Radio Replacement Interface (for Toyota/Scion/Lexus): The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 radio replacement interface is designed for 2003-2016 Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicle models. The module enables installation of an aftermarket radio while retaining the factory steering wheel control functions as well as maintaining compatibility with the factory JBL and JBL Synthesis amplified audio systems, the built-in 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack, and factory LCD. The built-in USB connection and back-up camera can also be retained in conjunction with an optional adapters (sold separately).

Notes:
  • Adjustment of the vehicle settings through the original radio's vehicle settings menu will be disabled after installation of your new radio. It is advised to make sure all settings are as you desire prior to removal of the original radio.
  • Does not retain Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE).

Vehicle Compatibility: The RadioPRO 4 RP4.2-TY11 is compatible with the following 2001-2016 Toyota, Scion, & Lexus vehicles.

Notes:
  • Only compatible in Toyota Avalon vehicles equipped with a JBL system.
  • Not compatible in Lexus vehicles equipped with factory navigation.

Radio Select Switch: The radio select switches on the side of the interface must be adjusted to the proper radio setting before plugging the interface into the vehicle. The RP4.2-TY11 is compatible with Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, Jensen, Fusion, Advent, Boyo, Dual, Lightning Audio, Rockford Fosgate, and Visteon aftermarket radios (see owner's manual for appropriate dip-switch setting).

For Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 can be used in vehicles with amplified & non-amplified factory audio systems. It retains JBL and JBL Synthesis amplified audio systems with real-time and programmable speaker fade function.

Note: Aftermarket radio features such as High Pass Filters (crossovers), DSP or "Network Mode" will interfere with proper fader function. In order for the RP4.2-TY11's fader function to work, the audio from the aftermarket radio's output must match so it can compare the front and rear audio levels and determine the proper fader setting for the factory amplifier.

Programmable SWC: The interface comes pre-programmed for all of the vehicle's factory SWC functions and does not require programming, unless you wish to re-assign the SWC functions to different buttons or create secondary functions. The SWC functions can be easily programmed; see default SWC button assignments in the included user manual. The interface retains programming even if your vehicle's battery is disconnected.

Note: The SWC harness contains a Blue/Yellow wire and a 3.5mm connector. You will only use one of the connectors, based on your type of aftermarket radio. The Blue/Yellow wire supports Kenwood and newer JVC receivers. The 3.5mm jack supports Alpine, Jensen, Older JVC, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, and Dual radios. Not compatible with Soundstream head units.

Factory Aux Input Retention: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 radio replacement interface module retains your vehicle's factory 3.5mm auxiliary input. Your aftermarket stereo must be equipped with a rear-panel Aux input (RCA-to-3.5mm adapter may be required).

+12V/10A Accessory Output: In many Toyota/Scion/Lexus vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. PAC's RP4.2-TY11 is designed to provide a 12V/10A switched accessory output (red wire).

Navigation Outputs: The PAC radio replacement interface provides wired outputs for navigation radio installation; including a VSS (vehicle speed sense), Parking Brake, and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming.

Note: Navigation outputs not retained by all vehicles.

Retains Factory Info Display: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 radio replacement interface module retains the factory info display (when applicable). Make sure the interface module has the latest firmware version installed.

Optional Factory USB & Backup Camera Harnesses: You are also able to retain your vehicle's factory USB input and backup camera in select vehicles with an optional harness: CAM-TY11 or CAM-TY12 (retains backup camera), or AX-TOYUSB or AX-TOYUSB-2 (retains USB input).

RadioPRO App: PAC offers a Windows compatible RadioPRO App software program to help you configure the interface. Use of the RadioPRO App allows you to do the following.

  • Red/White wire output behavior
  • Aftermarket radio Parking Brake Sequencing
  • Factory amplifier settings (Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Fader & Balance)
  • Real Time Fading
  • Update Product Firmware
  • Read Firmware/Hardware Versions
  • Access Product User Manuals
Note: The interface must be connected to the vehicle and your Windows laptop when using the RadioPRO App.

Q
Does it work on a Toyota sienna 2008 with jbl synthesis and navigation? What about the rear video entertainment system? Does it plug directly in the factory units or do you have to modify some connections?
avnish  Apr 21, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Avnish, this harness can be used in that Sienna for a radio installation. That being said, there are some features that this harness cannot retain, including the rear video entertainment system in this case. We have advisors who can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 that can help recommend the best install gear for your goals.

Q
My 2011 Tundra does not have NAV, or back up camera . Is this PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface still needed?
todd  Feb 12, 2024
1 answer
A
If you have the JBL premium audio package originally and want to keep the factory amp working Todd, The PAC RP4.2-TY11 interface is a great choice. If you do not have the JBL premium sound package, you can consider using the Crux SWRTY-61S below that does retain steering wheel control function with radios that support it. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_249TY61S/Crux-SWRTY-61S-Wiring-Interface.html

The light on my brand new PAC is red and now it shows no signal. It was originally green. What happened?
kevin  Jan 12, 2024
1 answer
A
Greetings Kevin. The manual states, if the LED is solid red, it is in a manual steering wheel button program mode. Might want to check with technical support as to how to get it out of that mode. If you purchased the product from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can walk you through the settings on the product and see if there may be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact PAC at 727-592-5991.

Q
I am trying to install an aftermarket stereo in a 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited (with JBL). I also have factory navigation, back up camera, steering wheel functions & mic in the car. Will this be the only thing I need to keep all of these functions? The stereo I need to install is an Android 11.
malfields  Dec 15, 2023
1 answer
A
You will need additional parts in order to retain the backup camera in your vehicle. It will be possible to retain the factory Bluetooth microphone, but it will likely be that you'll need to use the microphone included with your new radio as well. We do not have information on an Android 11 radio, so we would not be able to guarantee compatibility. We can recommend radios that we carry that would be compatible.

Q
I have this RP4.2-TY11 harness linked to an Alpine ilx-w650 on 2006 Tundra and factory JBL speakers. I am adding the Infinity basslink mini sub and trying to figure out how to connect it. I'm assuming it connects to this harness and not directly to the Alpine. Please advise where to connect if the connection is on the harness.?
erick  Nov 28, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Erick. Thanks for your question. The alpine stereo comes with a set of RCA attached to a harness that plugs into the rear of the W650. On it will be a dedicated subwoofer pair of RCAs. That would be the best way to connect your powered subwoofer.

Greetings Christina, and thank you for your question. According to the PAC website it is compatible. What we are offering for the 2006 Rav4 with JBL is from another brand. www.crutchfield.com/p_249CSTJ20/item.html I can tell you the Crux will work for your vehicle and the Sony.

Q
When will this be available?
jp  Aug 29, 2023
1 answer
A
We have no ETA information at this time, JP. We do only post an ETA date on the website if we have accurate information from the manufacturer, if we have no information then we cannot determine any ETA. Placing a risk-free backorder will secure your spot in line, and it doesn't cost you until the PAC RP4.2-TY11 is in the box and on the way! I have also posted a handy link to the webpage below where you can sign up for an email alert when it does get added back to the website if you do not wish to place the risk-free backorder. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/S-Br0SmvkR9mg/p_541RP4TY11/PAC-RP4-2-TY11-Wiring-Interface.html

ryan  Jul 25, 2023

Greetings Ryan, and thank you for your question. This interface is to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket stereo. If all you are adding is a subwoofer and an amplifier just for the new sub, we have other options. Please call one of our advisors at 800-324-9695 to discuss what would be the best option.

Q
Will this product work with a 2011 Toyota Camry with jbl and stock navigation?
connor  Apr 08, 2023
1 answer
A
This harness is compatible with the 2011 Toyota Camry with navigation and JBL, Connor. Depending on the specific radio you install this could be a good choice, but it will not retain any factory backup camera. Make sure to enter your vehicle details into our online Vehicle Guide in the handy link below. We will make sure to list all available install kits with radios that fit, and if you have any questions at all or need help placing your order do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-324-9695 and a live Advisor can help! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
I have a 2012 Sienna. How do I retain the factory backup camera using the RP4.2-TY11 interface and Boss BE950WCPA radio? Appendix A states "If you do not have the CAM-TY11 or CAM-TY12 harness available, follow the schematics below to retain the factory reverse camera. Older vehicles (pre 2014) will be equipped with the 16-pin harness. You can obtain the necessary 6v+ and ground for the factory camera from twisted Yellow / Black and Black wires labeled "OEM CAMERA POWER" in Interface Connector 2." I don't know how that connect to the car since my setup does not use interface connector 2. Please help!
carolyn  Apr 03, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Carolyn, and thank you for your question. Yes the PAC RP4.2-TY11 would need another adapter to retain the factory camera. The CAM TY11, and CAM TY12, are not listed as compatible with the 2012 Sienna, but for other model Toyotas, Scions, and Subaru vehicles. There are other wire interface options from Idatalink that can retain your camera. Another key is only if you have the factory navigation radio will the camera display on an aftermarket stereo (with adapters) if you have the basic radio, and the camera display's on separate screen above the radio, or rearview mirror. That will continue to work on that same factory screen. Can a hardwire job be done without an adapter? Yes, but you would be needing to contact technical support for assistance. If you purchased the PAC interface from Crutchfield, you will have a direct tech support number on your shipping confirmation email. If you purchased the adapter elsewhere, you can always reach out to the fine people at PAC, by calling 727-592-5991.

Q
I have a 2011 rav4 limited with factory jbl audio system but no factory navigation. The boss bvcp9700a I purchased has no connecting wire or aux input for the SWC connection. How do I retain my factory steering wheel controls with the new head unit?
seth  Mar 22, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Seth, and thank you for your question. We did not have that Boss model, and most of the Boss radios we carry if not all have a 3.5mm jack in the harness. I went to the Boss site for your model stereo and it said it can do steering wheel radio controls, but did not mention if its a 3.5mm jack, or a single hard wire on the harness. Best I can tell you for now, is call our tech support. You will have their direct number on your shipping confirmation email. If you lost that, just call the number on our site, we will find your order and switch you over.

ray  Mar 21, 2023
1 answer
A
That is correct, Ray! As of responding to this the PAC RP4.2-TY11 wiring interface is in stock and ready to ship! We do offer a discount when purchasing the radio and install gear together, so that is a solid move. If you need any help building your package or placing your order do not hesitate to call a live Advisor at 1-800-324-9695 and we can help you get your package flying!

Q
When is this product gonna be in stock?
david  Mar 01, 2023
1 answer
A
We have an unknown ETA listed for the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface sadly, David. Anytime we have word from the manufacturer that we are about to expect some, we will print an estimated date on the website. Sadly, we have little other information. We can place a risk-free backorder where you do not get charged until it ships as an option also! If you do not place a backorder, keep checking the website to see if we list any ETA info. The website is active, and changes up to the minute!

Q
Can I use a amp with this kit?
dwaine  Jan 10, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Dwaine, and thank you again for your question. This PAC interface is to be used for replacing a factory radio. If you are replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket stereo, the new stereo would have the needed outputs for adding aftermarket amplifiers. This PAC interface would retain a factory amplifier when replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket stereo.
hogan  Jan 11, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Do I need a relocation harness with this wiring kit?
dwaine  Jan 10, 2023
1 answer
A
If you are planning to use the existing factory amp in supported vehicles with your new radio Dwaine, you will not need any relocation harness when using the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface. You will need a dash kit, aftermarket radio, and potentially other accessories depending on your specific model. Our online Vehicle Guide will make sure to pair all the gear you need with your new radio for a successful install, use the link below and enter your ride's specific details and we can take away the guesswork! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
Do I have to leave the factory radio in with this harness or can I put in a after market radio?

1 answer
A
This PAC RP4.2-TV11 interface will only work with an aftermarket radio, Dwaine. Our website will filter the radios down to only select ones that are a good fit in your vehicle, and this interface is a great choice as it can retain the factory JBL system, steering wheel controls, and aux input in select 2003-up Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles! Once you pick out your radio, we will make sure you pair all the install gear you need for a successful swap, just use our Vehicle Guide and enter your ride's details in the link below! https://www.crutchfield.com/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html

Q
Does this adapter/harness have a plug for a Bluetooth microphone?°
rickey  Nov 13, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Rick, and thank you for your question. It does not have a microphone input. Most aftermarket stereos that would use this PAC interface will have a microphone input as well as the wired microphone. If you already have a stereo and it does not have a wired microphone input, you would not be able to add one.

I installed this alongside a Sony XAV-AX3200. It worked for a while with no problems... but I just pulled it out to install the mic and when I placed it back in the cabinet, something happened... and now the PAC unit doesn't get any power (the red light remains dark even when the engine is on). What's the best way to diagnose the issue? (problem with the PAC vs the wiring harness vs. the factor cords the harness plugs into?)

We think the best way to diagnose any issues with gear from us is to give us a call Graham! Sometimes that small reset button on case of the unit can get pressed accidentally on install, in your case if it is not that it is most likely something simple that we can help troubleshoot and that's exactly what our free lifetime Technical Support is for. Give us a call at our direct tech line at 1-888-292-2575 anytime we are open and a live agent can help troubleshoot any gear you got from us, every time!

Hello, so last weekend I wired up the PAC RP4.2-TY11 with a Sony xav 3250 head unit and everything seemed to be working fine at first, but the the steering wheel controls stopped working. I pulled everything back out, making sure my connections were good (they were) and put it all back. It worked again, then stopped working a few minutes later. I can not figure out why this is happening?? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

I too had this trouble. The tech was good & helpful. Bottom line I insisted they send a new one, after I installed it my troubles with steering controls were gone. I sent the old one back, never heard is it was bad. Quality Control is good in my home, & seams at crutchfield too! But some parts that are made elsewhere are mass produced. Quality can be close but electronics have to be perfect interface if with car manufacturers because we all know there quality. I'd bet on trying a new one.

I had the same thing happen. I thought a connection may have pulled apart when reinstalling so I pulled everything out, checked connectors, and installed again, and it's worked for a few days and now has stopped working all together. Even when the steering controls were working, there was a noticeable lag in response.

What is the solid blue wire for on Interface Connector 4? It's not listed in the wiring diagram. I have Blue/Yellow Stripe, Blue/White Stripe, and the mysterious solid blue wire. Any help would be much appreciated.

A
Joe: Usually solid blue is the remote turn on wire for the amp. Not sure if it is in this case but that's my best guess. If you are unsure call Crutchfield. They should be able to assist.

I want to update the headunit ATOTO A6 Pro A6Y2721PRB to my Toyota Camry Hybrid 2007, does this work with this model and headunit?
kelvin  Dec 06, 2019

A
Though I am not familiar with the head unit you are looking at, I did use this interface with my 2011 Camry and it has worked flawlessly. I hooked it to a Sony XAV-651BT DVD player receiver. All of the steering wheel functions still work like they should. I hope you enjoy it.

Sorry I don't know. I used this for a 2005 Tundra that did not have that capability. I so know that the unit does have more plug-ins that I didn't use.

I think so; it does in my 07 4Runner. Definitely test it before you button up the dash and if it doesn't work you know Crutchfield will help you out and take it back if it doesn't meet your needs.
robert  Jul 27, 2019
A
It all depends on the type of car stereo it is being paired with. I would advise you to download the manual for the PAC. There is a matrix in the manual that shows if phone options are available for a variety of stereo manufacturers. Best of luck.
