Give your ride some Punch

Rockford Fosgate showcases their fanatical commitment to sonic excellence in the Punch Series of speakers, amps, and subs. If you like to listen to potent, powerful music — and feel it too — Punch components will give you impressive sound that'll stand out in a crowd.

Rockford Fosgate designed the Punch P1692 6"x9" speakers as a high-grade replacement for your factory speakers. Each speaker features a responsive polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround that'll stand up to hours of high-volume jams. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the surround to the cone that yields up to 25% more cone area, for fuller sound and stronger performance. The dome tweeter provides clear, extended highs that can hold their own when the bass gets heavy.

Features

Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mineral filled, injection-molded polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 3/4" PEI (Poly-Ether-Imide) dome tweeter; PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" wide positive (+) terminals and 0.187" wide negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle applications. It is recommended that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.

Customer Q&A

Q
Do these speakers require amp?
pikachu  Jul 07, 2023
1 answer
A
These speakers could be powered with a factory or aftermarket car stereo in most cases; however, these speakers will offer better performance with more power from an outboard amplifier.
zachary  Jul 07, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Is each speaker 75 amps?
cameron  Aug 15, 2021
1 answer
A
I think you mean 75 watts, at least I hope so. I did run 80 watts to mine with no issues, clean signal of course with no clipping.

Q

Q
Will these fit a 2019 Subaru crosstrek front doors speakers without having to cut or Splice any wires?
kyle  Mar 25, 2021
1 answer
A
Yes. I have these in my impreza (identical interior as the crosstrek). You just need the female speaker connectors to factory speaker harness adapter. I believe Crutchfield supplies this for free with the purchase of the speakers. It's a quick plug and play application.

Q
For a 2016 Ford fusion I want to upgrade my rear deck speakers. Why won't the 6x9 rockford fosgate not fit? Os there any wiring harness available? In the diagram it says my car takes 6x9 rear deck speakers.

Q
Why won't this fit my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee? My front door uses 6x9" speakers and NOT 6.5" speakers. ALL of the 6x9" speakers on this website are listed as "do not fit". Why?
imoses14  May 20, 2019

A
Hi imoses I'm not familiar with the speakers in a 2007 Jeep, and with Crutchfields extensive research I would be willing to bet there's a reason why they won't fit. My suggestion to you is to pull the door panel off and see if there's perhaps an obstruction behind the speaker or something. Just like anything, and with some ingenuity you can make anything fit anywhere! Ps in my humble opinion, you're better off with Alpine type S speakers over these Rockford's. Good luck
carl  May 20, 2019
A
It might have to do with the mounting depth. The speakers need a certain spacing to function properly. It may also be a mistake. Crutchfield tells me that I cannot fit a double DIN stereo in my 2002 Saab 9-3 but the stock stereo itself is a double DIN. Crutchfield has a good return policy so if it doesn't work for some reason you can always return it :) Hope this helped.

Q
Are these free air speakers? Can I just hang them in the back of the van without a basket?
stanley  Nov 09, 2017
1 answer
A
I have these mounted free air in my Mazda Protege rear deck and they sound fine. I'm sure they would gain better bass by putting them in boxes, but they're perfect without.

Q
Are these free air speakers? Can I just hang them in the back of the van without a basket?
stanley  Nov 09, 2017
1 answer
A
They require the front side and backside of the cone to be in seperate airspaces. Although they will emit sound with out achieving this they will not perform to the eatablishes parameters if mounted differently.
clinton  Nov 12, 2017
Q
these are 4ohm speakers and the car has 8ohm speakers, how will this affect the stereo system?
bruce  Apr 05, 2016
1 answer
A
The lower resistance of the new speakers will draw more power from the stock amp. Most factory amps are 4 Ohm stable so this shouldn't be an issue but you may want to check for any "installation notes" for your vehicle when you add them to your online shopping cart. Be sure to enter your vehicle information into the "Outfit My Car" application first: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fCar%2foutfitmycar%2fcar.aspx I hope that helps! Q
Is there a particularly good receiver to run these on? My stock head unit isn't powerful enough for these, they distort after about 50% volume with bass dialed up to four of ten "bars". I have no preference for either single or double din.
christopher  Aug 23, 2015
1 answer
A
I Have these in my car. Single din will not push enough power. Get a decent double din. I run a pioneer in my car and they are crisp as can be up to full volume no extra power needed.
