Slim box, big bass

The P3S-1X12 sealed enclosure measures only 6-3/8" deep at its bottom, so it'll fit in the space behind many regular truck cab seats. It comes preloaded with a single 12" Punch Stage 3 shallow dual voice coil subwoofer that'll handle up to 400 watts RMS. The enclosure's low 1-ohm total impedance means it'll drive your amp to its max — just make sure you pair it with a 1-ohm stable amplifier. If you're looking to save space, Rockford Fosgate's super-small Punch PBR300X1 amp is a good match for this enclosure, generating 300 watts RMS at 1 ohm.

Rockford Fosgate Punch P3S-1X12

Sounds good and tight. Mounts perfect on tailgate in my 2013 Jeep jk wrangler. One warning is you will need to rewire the dual voice coils in series if your amp cannot run a 1 ohm empedence speaker. The dual 2 ohm voice coils wired in series will give you 4 ohms empedence.

Awesome sub for trucks!

Josh L from Staunton, VA on 6/4/2013

Needed a sub to compliment the focal components I installed in my 87 F150 standard cab truck. I went with this sub, and the alpine M110 mono amp and I am amazed at the power this single little speaker has! The amp I bought is over kill I suppose, but if your careful and stay away from temptation of to much gain, this bad boy will rock your truck with clean solid hits. It was smaller in over all size in the sealed box than I was expecting, so two will drop in behind a standard full size truck cab without a problem.

Pros: Quality unit that hits hard and keeps it small on space. Good price to

Cons: None

Amazing sub

Trevor G from Redding CA on 7/5/2012

This sub for the price it comes with is worth every penny. I have it installed in my 1994 Chevy 1500k. no crew cab so it fits right behind the seat perfectly. The sound quality is amazing for such a shallow sub. I have it paired with the Kicker 10DX500.1 and it is simply amazing. Its rugged and thats even with how it got to me the shipping box it was in was all cut and crumpled, I thought the sub was gonna be punctured and what not, but to my astonishment is was perfectly fine. If you are looking for a small sub this one delivers every time!

Pros: Sound Quality, Build, and it just looks cool

Cons: NONE

Features

Punch Woofer: The enclosure houses one front-firing Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD2-12 shallow mount 12" subwoofer. The dual 2-ohm voice coils are internally wired in parallel to present a 1-ohm load. The sub features a StampCast basket, an Anodized aluminum cone, and Santoprene surround. The integrated spider venting helps keep the subwoofer cool.

Enclosure: The truck-style sealed enclosure is constructed with 1/2" MDF and covered with high density black carpet. The enclosure features high current spring posts of the right side. The box is shallow enough to fit behind the front seat of many standard cab pickups.

Box Carpeting: The enclosure is finished with high-density black carpeting for superior durability.

Speaker Terminal: The subwoofer enclosure uses one pair of high current, spring loaded binding posts. The binding posts are located on the right side of the box and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Power Handling: The subwoofer can handle up to 400 watts RMS, 800 watts peak.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the P3S-1x12 conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not just for an instant.

Dimensions: The depth dimensions listed in Features and Specs include the subwoofer's trim ring, which adds approximately 1-1/8 inches. The depth of just the enclosure is 5-1/4 inches at the base and 3-3/8 inches at the top.

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
To fit loos in the back seat of the my F250 Super Duty to support some good base sound. I feel that one should be good if centered right behind the very back seat. Not sure if I need a amplifier, but I hope the receiver is strong enough to support? [ Chris  Jun 28, 2018 ]

Good fit for regular cab truck listening to all genres of music [ Shawn  Feb 19, 2018 ]

Q
Would this fit behind the rear seat in a 2018 F150 SuperCrew?
[ Ben  Aug 20, 2018 ]

A
I am not sure, as the new fords seem to have a spot for the factory sub. You may have enough room and just replace the factory box with this one? Sorry that I am not much help. I am using mine in my 2003 F350 Super Duty and there is plenty of room for this one box. I am not using two, but there would be enough room for two in my case.

Q
Would anyone know if a shallow sub box work good in a car trunk instead of a regular ported box? I'm trying to save space so I can still use my trunk lol.

I had it in a truck cab but it would probably have more sound in a ported enclosure...I liked its bass response ..it was efficient just make sure you have a 1ohm stable amplifier

I have a shallow box in the trunk of an 02 Mustang convertible. Still leaves some room. Think Gym bag and groceries for 2. However because I had to lay the sub on it's back, it was exposed. I purchased the protective grill for the sub. Cheap insurance policy especially if this is for a daily driver that will have the trunk used often.

This is 1ohm with Dual Voice Coils. Can I wire it to change it to 2 or 4 Ohms?
[ Antonio  Jun 09, 2016 ]

A
The subwoofer in this box is a dual voice coil 2 ohm model. You can change the wiring in the box so that it has a 4 ohm total impedance. I hope this helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Will this box fit in the small trunk of my 2015 jeep wrangler JK?
[ ANAV2LDO  Dec 23, 2015 ]

A
This box just fits behind the back seats in my 2006 GMC Sierra quad cab pickup truck. Use the measurements they give and compare to the size of the compartment in your jeep.
[ Gregory  Dec 28, 2015 ]
A
The available area we have on file for mounting a sub box in the rear/hatch of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler is: Width (side to side) = 35" (with factory sub) or 41" (without factory sub), Height = 12", Depth (front to rear) = 9" at top, 12" at bottom. This Rockford box appears a bit too tall to fit into that location.
