The 'C390 not only plays regular CDs, but also your home-burned CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and even long-playing MP3 discs. This changer also sports a unique 6-disc carousel design that lets you change five discs while the sixth keeps playing. Next Selection lets you "cue up" the next song you want to hear without interrupting the song that's currently playing. And the remote gives you easy control of your music from across the room — its direct disc and track access lets you quickly locate exactly the track you want to hear.

Features

Features

Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC): The DX-C390 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray pulse noise for a smoother, richer analog output signal.

Direct Digital Path: Direct Digital Path signal routing provides a shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply.

MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2, Romeo, or Joliet formats. MP3 files with a sampling rate of 8-48 kHz and a bit-rate of 8-320 kbps are supported. Fixed bit-rate MP3 files are recommended, however, variable bit-rate MP3 files are supported. Each disc can have a maximum of 499 files and 99 folders.

Disc Exchange: You can exchange up to 5 discs while playing a sixth; once the drawer is open, 2 CDs can be changed, then you must use the Disc Skip button to remove the remaining three.

Next Selection: This feature allows you to choose the next track, folder, or disc for playback, without interrupting the current song playing.

Connections

RI: RI remote control input and output mini-jacks allow you to transmit remote codes from a compatible Onkyo unit to this unit. A cable with 3.5mm mono plugs on each end can be used for this purpose. No RI remote cable is included with the CD changer.

Note: When only the RI cable is connected, remote control operation is not possible; the audio cables must also be connected.

I dont think so, my onkyo's cd changers, doesnt have any HDMI conecctor, so I connected through an RCA high quality cables to my Integated amplifier. I dont really know if others brand offer a cd player or changer with HDMI capabilities. I read some reviews, peoples trying to connect the cd player or changer to a samsung and nothing happens. Others just recieved a message from equipment. I really think those equipment are uncapable because doesnt have HDMI connetor for interface.

Does this CD player have stop/resume feature? if I stop the cd and power it off and power back on does it pick up where it left off?
[ dwcgarth  Apr 26, 2017 ]

Yes! It has a standby feature on the remote that when pressed will power off the unit . When you want to resume, you just press "on" and voila, you pickup right where you left off.
[ Walt  Apr 28, 2017 ]
A
I've never tried this feature until asked the question, the stop/resume didn't work, the player actually had to be played from the beginning. I'm very happy with the player.

Dear Crutchfield - does this item ship within another (not identified) box? I do not want a box coming to my address that shows anything about what is inside the box.
[ DC to Light  Feb 13, 2017 ]

Thanks for your question. Due to the box size this item ships in the manufacturer's box so information would be visible. We can ship items to a work location, relative, etc. if there are concerns with shipping. Hope this helps.

Q
What type of cable/ends would I need to connect this to my Onkyo A/V Receiver using the RI Remote Control jacks?
[ Keith  Nov 24, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
In addition to the regular RCA and or digital connectors, you will need a male to male mono 3.5 mm connector. It was included with the cd changer, and instructions are in the user manual. I'm pretty sure the receiver also came with a cable.
[ Judy  Nov 27, 2016 ]
Q

[ SANDRA  Nov 04, 2016 ]

An online source (unverified) says that it is a Wolfson WM8726 DAC. Other sources just say Wolfson.

Q
Do I need any other equipment at all for this cd player to be operational, except speakers?
[ Scott  Jul 08, 2016 ]
3 answers
A
Yes, you need an amplifier. The specs listed on the Onkyo website for this model don't actually give the output levels, but it is clear that this player must feed its output to an amplifier to which speakers are attached. Of course, if you use self-powered speakers, they have the amplifier built in, so that would work as well.
[ David  Jul 10, 2016 ]
A
You need a receiver. Any cheap receiver will do. Or a universal device that includes a receiver, with audio inputs, such as a Bose Soundwave. But... I bought this Onkyo and it broke within 20 hours of use. It won't load or play CDs properly. I'd buy a cheap Sony or Kenwood (if available) model instead.
[ Benjamin  Jul 09, 2016 ]
A
you need a receiver or amplifier
[ Kathryn  Jul 08, 2016 ]
Q
What are the out-of-the-box dimensions?
[ Scott  Jul 08, 2016 ]
2 answers
A
According to the Onkyo DX-C390 owner's manual, the unit's dimensions are 17-1/8"W x 5-3/16"H x 17"D. That's one and a quarter inches less in depth compared to the dimensions listed in the Overview text.
[ Martin  Nov 22, 2016 ]
A
Thanks for your question. The manufacturer lists the dimensions as: 17-1/8"W x 5-3/16"H x 18-1/4"D. This information is kind of hidden. On the product page overview, click "Read More". Hope this information helps.

[ Jack  Apr 18, 2016 ]

Thanks for your question. There is one digital optical output and there is no cable included. You can find this information on the product page under the details tab, with the subheadings "what's in the box", and "outputs". Hope that helps.

Q
Is the DX390 compatible with Onyko R805X Mini Tuner? Thanks!
[ sally  Mar 10, 2016 ]
2 answers
A
Do you mean for amplification purposes? If so, the answer is no. The Onkyo doesn't have any input jacks; only output jacks -- so you wouldn't be able to plug the tuner into the Onkyo.
[ PHILIP S  Mar 11, 2016 ]
A
I had a Sony receiver in place when I replaced my previous CD changer with the DX390. I had no issues integrating it into my system. I can't imagine that it would not be compatible to another Onkyo product, but again, I cannot speak from experience.
[ Ray  Mar 11, 2016 ]
Q
does this come with a radio, with the cd player?
[ richard  Feb 21, 2016 ]
1 answer
A
Thanks for your question. No there is no radio tuner built into this item. It would need to be connected to a separate receiver for playback. Hope that helps.

Yes it will, this unit has RCA, or digital coaxial and optical outputs. For connection to your Kenwood would just use the standard analog RCA (red/white) cables. This is a new unit.

I've lost my remote to my Onkyo DX-C390, is it possible to purchase just the remote?
[ Lizzy  Nov 05, 2015 ]

You can get a universal remote that will control the player (and many other devices) but if you want the Onkyo RC-777C remote that came packaged with the player, you may be able to get one from their parts department. You can reach their parts department directly by dialing : 201-785-2600 I hope that helps!
