It does exactly what we needed it to do, and are very happy with it. My son has an '06 Mustang, and was using a cigarette lighter blue tooth receiver with an rf transmitter, to pick up the music from his phone on the radio. There were a lot of head units to choose from on Crutchfield, but he wanted to keep the stock unit. So we got him this blue tooth receiver, WHICH SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT HE WAS USING!!!!!! I'm no wrench monkey, but he was excited to install, so we went out no Christmas morning and installed it. We just used Crutchfield's instructions to remove the head unit, and the included wiring harness made it plug and play. A couple of extra perks about this model: It has an auxiliary port on the receiver, which we'll just run a 3.5mm jack into the console in case he needs to plug in. It has a USB Charging port on it to, so we'll run a charging cable too. Extra props, yinz guys got it out to us just in time for Christmas!!! Very happy, thank you.

Pros: Great blue tooth receiver Has additional aux. port and usb charging port, which was a bonus.

Cons: Microphone would be some extra cabling into the dash to hide, which is just how that works, and not really a Con. One thing that would make it better if that USB charging port on it could send music over too, but not necessary.

Great way to add bluetooth and hands free phone capabilities to older cars. Works great. Only drawback is it does not allow you to hear incoming calls and answer them unless you are in Aux mode.

Pros: Easy install, works and sounds great. Clear phone calls

Cons: Have to be in Aux mode for phone use even though USASPEC YouTube video shows it working in other modes.

2006 Ford F-150

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased this because my wife's 2006 F150 had weird electrical issues after a local car retailer put in an after market stereo with a module so we could still use the steering wheel controls. After having a mechanic check it out they were recommending replacing the instrument cluster. I chose not to go that route and instead put the factory stereo back in. The electrical issue went away. So I decided to try this as Crutchfield has been around for decades and has a trustworthy reputation. My wife liked having a six-CD changer and the steering wheel controls but wanted blue-tooth. It has been a couple of weeks since I installed it and there have been no electrical issues with it. The Blue-tooth works perfectly and my wife gets to keep the six-CD changer and steering wheel controls. I wish I had went this route in the first place.

Pros: Works great, installation took my just over an hour but most of that time was spending getting the clips out and back onto the dash molding. LOL The wire plugs matched perfectly to the wiring harness and factory stereo.

Cons: USB port is for charging only, cannot plug in flash drives.

This module really works! It was super easy to install with the instructions supplied by Crutchfield. I had it up and running in an hour. It is better than I expected. The cell phone microphone has a good clear sound. Best of all I kept my original factory unit with its CD changer.

Pros: Easy install. Cell phone works well. Good sound with Bluetooth.

Cons: None

Great device

Easy installation with no spicing. Have been using it for a year now without any flaws. Things that could improve: To answer and end calls, you have to use the up and down arrows on the CD. If the "phone" button could be used it would be better. The space behind the original radio is slim, a routing suggesting would reduce the number of attempts. Finally a foam wrapp could be included to put around the device.

Pros: Simple install Use of original buttons and even display on the screen

Cons: Does not use the phone button on dashboard.

Bought this for the blue tooth for my phone and the aux input. It does all of this but is not a easy simple option every time I get in the truck. I only went this way because I wanted better AM reception then aftermarket radio's provide so I stuck with my factory radio. If AM is not your thing, I'd say buy a new radio

Pros: Hands free talk

Cons: Only works when the radio is on

Bluetooth Pairing: The USA Spec BT45-FORD1 can only be paired and connected to one Bluetooth device at a time. Its compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices such as Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows phone, and more.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the USA Spec BT45-FORD1.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (HFP): The USA Spec BT45-FORD1 supports Bluetooth Profile HFP for hands-free communication from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, so you can take (answer/end) phone calls through your vehicle's factory radio.

  • Answering a Phone Call: When there is an incoming call, your factory stereo's music will be muted and an audible ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle speakers. You can even have the BT45-FORD1 announce the caller's phone number through your sound system; and for most text-capable radios if you miss the announcement, you can view the caller's phone number on your factory radio's display. To answer the call, simply press the Seek Up button on your factory radio or steering wheel control. To end or reject a call, press the Seek Down button on your factory radio or steering wheel control.
  • Dialing a Phone Number: In order to dial a phone number, you will still need to use your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone; you cannot dial a number from the factory radio. Once you've dialed a number from your mobile phone, then the call will be automatically transferred to the BT45-FORD1 and your factory stereo system.
  • External Microphone: The USA Spec BT45-FORD1 includes an external microphone to carry on your side of the conversation, while the caller's voice will be heard through your vehicle's speakers. The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found in many factory or aftermarket head units. The microphone is fitted with a 16' cable terminated by a 3.5mm connector that connects to the BT45-FORD1 module; it measures 0.9375" (w) x 0.6875" (h) x 1.625" (d). The microphone has a self-adhesive backing to mount it to your vehicle's driver-side pillar, head-liner trim, or dash (do not mount it to the windshield.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP): The BT45-FORD1 supports Bluetooth Profiles A2DP and AVRCP for wireless audio streaming from a Bluetooth-enabled device that can also be controlled from the buttons on your vehicle's factory radio or steering wheel; in some cases you can also view song/artist information on your factory radio's display.

  • Wireless Music Streaming: You can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or stream music apps (such as Pandora, SiriusXM Radio, iHeartRadio, etc.) that are playing on your Bluetooth device to your vehicle's sound system (all speakers will play).
  • Music Control: You can control Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track functions from your vehicle's factory radio or steering wheel controls (other control functions will have to be done from your Bluetooth enabled device). You can control the volume of the music being streamed via your factory radio and steering wheel controls, or the Bluetooth device.
  • Song/Artist Information: In many cases, you can view artist, album, and song title information on your factory radio's display. In order to view song/artist information on your factory radio's display, your factory radio and your Bluetooth-enabled device must meet the following requirements:
    • Your factory radio must have a "TEXT" button or support text display through Preset-6.
    • If you are using a Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, then it must be running iOS 6 or higher. If you are using a Bluetooth-enabled Android smartphone/tablet, then it must be running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or higher operating system.
    • Your device's Bluetooth AVRCP profiles must be 1.4 or higher.

Auxiliary Input: In addition to wireless Bluetooth connectivity, the USA Spec BT45-FORD1 is fitted with an auxiliary audio input (3.5mm) for connection of practically any portable audio device with a headphone jack output or analog audio output.

USB Charging Port: The USA Spec BT45-FORD1 features a USB (type-A) port to charge your smartphone or other portable audio device in your vehicle. Because the BT45-FORD1 is a hide-away device, you'll want to purchase a USB extension cable (sold separately) to make the unit's USB charging port accessible. The USB charging port is rated at 5V/2.1A.

Note: This USB port is for charging only; it does not support music streaming.

Dip Switches: There are 4 dip switches that will need to be configured. Make sure all dip switches are set to On / Off / On / Off positions.

Installation: The USA Spec BT45-FORD1 installs behind the factory radio.

Yes, you can dial out, but obviously you dial On The phone. I have an iPhone and I call Siri and ask the call or text and it works fine. The little "phone" button on the radio is not used. To take or end calls you have to use the up and down arrows on the right side of the CD. Have the system for more than a year and very pleased with it.

HI Aolll Yes, it will work with any device that has Bluetooth, the bad part that I have experience is that after a while it starts to disconnect when the temperature gets to hot, I had already changed mine by guarantee but its starting to have the same issue. And costumer service its not the best when it comes to returning devices. Installation its quick and easy! If you have any other questions ill be happy to help! Alex
[ ALEJANDRO RAMOS  Sep 12, 2016 ]

Yes it does, however this device only connects 1 Bluetooth device at a time. If you store your music on your phone then it's an ok solution for music and hands free phone calls ( incoming only).
