Logitech® Harmony® Ultimate One
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Great remote. Setup was easy with good online instructions. It walks you through the complete setup. Highly recommended.
Ever wish your home remote control was more like a smartphone? The Harmony Ultimate One lets you use the same simple swipe and type touchscreen motions to control your home theater system. With a flick of your finger you can quickly swipe and scroll to navigate to your entertainment choices. The Ultimate One doesn't overwhelm you with choices — surrounding its touchscreen are just a few simple control buttons. And you can even consolidate button functions. So, for example, by tapping a button, your Blu-ray player skips to the next chapter. But if you hold down that button, the player will fast-forward through the disc.
Customizable channel icons mean your favorite TV shows are only one touch away.
Is your setup complex? Not anymore. You can initiate a sequence of commands by tapping a single activity icon. Touch the “Watch TV” icon, for example, and the Ultimate One automatically assesses the status of your HDTV, receiver, cable or satellite box and makes sure they're all turned on with the proper settings. Presto! Your system's ready for TV viewing. The activity icons also provide easy access for family members and houseguests.
Select colorful, easy-to-see display icons for up to 50 of your favorite TV channels. And you can personalize and rearrange them as you want — right on the remote's touchscreen. To watch a channel, just touch the icon. The remote does the rest.
You can control up to 15 devices with the Ultimate One remote. The system works with over 5,000 brands and 225,000 entertainment devices, including lighting controls, game consoles, multi-room systems, and more. If it has a remote, you can probably control it with the Ultimate One.
To get started, just download the free MyHarmony software to your Mac or PC. Then connect the Ultimate One to it via the provided USB cable. MyHarmony will help you program your remote by asking some simple questions about your system and how you use it. It then downloads the commands and command sequences to your remote. And you can use MyHarmony to update your remote whenever you upgrade your system with new gear.
The Harmony Ultimate One comes with its own charging station, so your remote has a home and it's easy to find. But if you forget to replace it on the station when you're done, don't worry. A built-in motion sensor “wakes up” the remote from its auto sleep mode when you pick it up — no more draining batteries while the remote's sitting on the coffee table.
Great remote. Setup was easy with good online instructions. It walks you through the complete setup. Highly recommended.

Average Customer Review(s):
Great remote. Setup was easy with good online instructions. It walks you through the complete setup. Highly recommended.
Good unit if you can get it at a discount. Bright and clear screen, very touch sensitive. Putting the USB cable into the remote for programming is not easy. Remote is a little on the small side. MyHarmony website is somewhat less than intuitive and devices to be programmed do not always have all of the commands available requiring contacting Logitech. If you e-mail Logitech, be prepared for a 2 day response. Some choices are made from the settings on the remote and not through MyHarmony website. A good thing is that if you have a cable provider, the remote will pull up the available stations for your provider and you can have up to 50 favorites. Lastly, you can go on-line and pull down your own icons to use.
This remote is very good. Most functions are on the touch screen. My previous Harmony One (no longer available) had more real buttons, which I preferred. This remote works great, though. My only complaint is the touch screen is very sensitive. Sometimes I accedently select something just because a finger is too close to the screen.
I have had harmony remotes in the past, the touch screen is cool, but may be more difficult than it needs to be. Maybe I'm a purest, but I like buttons. Overall it's a nice, small remote which does everything. I do not regret the purchase and will buy another when needed.
Pros: Controller everything Size Rechargeable
Cons: Touch screen Sometimes turns things off, not on
Finally a universal remote that operates all of our entertainment devices with simplicity. Would have given it 5 stars except like so many devices you buy these days the manufacturer gives minimal instructions, but by scrolling through after a few days we now have found everything we need to enjoy our viewing experience. Also the sale price was quite a bargain.
Works as stated but not as user-friendly as the old 650.
The Harmony Ultimate One replaced a three year old Haromy remote (1100) that I loved but finally wore out due to continuous heavy usage. The programming of the new version was similar to the old one and relatively easy but the functional navigation was somewhat different and took a little getting used to. Once I became familierized with the navigational differences, it is now the indispensible AVR Control that the 1100 was and more so.
Pros: Complete system control with one touch.
Cons: Programming of functions could be a little more intuitive.
Love this remote works perfectly!
Easy to setup and easy to use. I really like that the remote can do so many things without a bunch of unnecessary buttons.
Pros: Easy to use
Easy to set up and easy to use. The "cool" factor is A+
Great remote. I bought it to replace the old Harmony One that I loved, but because it had a slight "wake up" delay my impatient wife slapped it and accidentally broke it. THIS one is good for a 5 star rating performance wise, but in today's "DVR world" I think the FF/REW buttons should be located where the thumb naturally sits when holding the ergonomically designed remote (instead of the very top of the unit.) Unless you have a 6" thumb? You'll need to juggle the remote EVERY time to use these controls. Otherwise? 1)Plug it into your computer with the included USB cable 2)Go to the website and enter the makes/models of your components 3)Unplug, go to your entertainment room... Press ONE BUTTON and watch several devices turn on and enjoy!
Pros: Ease of use Compact Ergonomic design
Cons: Button locations
Quick installation by Crutchfield and well worth their fee. Nice display screen and works better than our old Harmony remote.
I recently replaced my Harmony 890 with this unit. It's not overly complicated. I like the simplified buttons, and the improved display screen interface.
Pros: Simple to use. So easy, my girlfriend can use it.
Cons: Still some minor glitches with changing activities, like my old Harmony had. Overall, improved though.
I finally took the plunge and purchased a universal remote and I am glad I did. I was able to replace multiple remotes and use just this one. It works well and was easy to program, the only drawback is that it does not have dedicated buttons for numbers.
Pros: Control everything with one remore
Cons: no dedicated number buttons
The Logitech Harmony Ultimate One is another great piece of equipment no one should be without. Just plug it into your computer, select the model numbers of your Audio, DVD, DVR, TV, Game Console, Etc. equipment while selecting a few routine entertainment tasks and you can literally toss all of those other 'factory' remotes in a drawer. This single remote 'magically' controls everything at once with simple touchscreen ease and learns its way as you modify your system or preferences. You will want one for every room in your house!
Pros: Simple, easy setup in less than 5 minutes. Almost idiot proof to operate.
It tries to do too many things with too few buttons. You can supposedly fix this by programming any button to do anything, and that's the problem. I had a Harmony One that did almost everything right - just out of the box. After two weeks, I'm still trying to program some buttons to do the things I want to do. And the buttons are a little too close together and not placed so that you can push the right button in the dark. works OK with the lights up, but watching a DVD and accidentally hitting the OFF button instead of a pause is a real downer.
Pros: can program any button
Cons: Have had to program too many buttons The most used buttons are not in the best location
awesome. put 5 remotes controllers in 1
Pros: no need to buy more batteries
Would have gotten a 5 if it could control internet tv hardware. The Logitech website said "yes" but when I setup it said it can not. Well that isn't entirely true. I will be buying it because other than that, the remote is awesome!
Pros: Price, function, feel
Cons: Does not cover some internet hardware
Very mixed feelings on this product. 3rd Logitech Harmony remote I've owned and by far the most frustrating to use. Set up was easy enough although the software still has little glitches dealing with a user with multiple Harmony remotes. Features and customizable buttons are super cool. The touch screen absolutely sucks. Bad idea. Bad design. I should have known better. In my opinion, in most cases hard buttons just plain work better than touch and in this case, omg, touch is just such a bad idea. Can't use without looking at (or more like staring) at the remote. Sensitivity varies each time you use it. Reaction time to the press varies. It's a nightmare. You have to look and carefully press each button and still f' up half the time. Touch just for the initial activity choice would have been fine (I think). The touch does allow for a lot more features but everything is buried in multiple screens and if you accidentally touch the screen, good luck figuring out how to undo it. There is absolutely no way anyone else in my house will use this thing. I've gotten pretty good at it but still have issues with the accidental touch thing. What few hard buttons this thing has feel good and work very well so far. My biggest complaint with past Harmonys is how quickly the button contact wear out and fail. Will wait and see how this one goes. My first Harmony with rechargeable batteries. See how long it lasts. Crutchfield has been fantastic. Price excellent
Pros: Looks good. Hard buttons feel good and react well. Some very cool features. Controls Apple TV.
Cons: The stupid touch screen!!!!
Some trouble setting up the account with Logitech, but after that it worked well
Pros: Good value Worked well
Cons: It's never perfect
I've been a fan of Logitech for some time now this is my fourth remote and just like the other products it did not disappoint
Pros: Delivers everything as promised
This remote replaced an older Logitech. Easy to upgrade. Love the added feature to secure the remote in your hand.
Easy to set up, easy to use. Wish it would control my PlayStation also that is the only negative.
Nice remote runs everything but my PS4.
Pros: Great price and runs all my equipment.
Cons: During buttons are on top not the best place for them.
I had an older Logitech remote that has lasted for quite a while, this new one seems to work pretty well, and there's been improvement in the programming software. I'm getting use to it, but still haven't been able to locate the "Hub"function from my Samsung TV on this remote yet.
Eliminates various remotes
Pros: Eliminates 4 other remotes
Wonderful product easy to set up and troubleshoot!
Pros: Ease of set up and use
Easy to setup and use. Displays great. Surprised at the great quality
I should give this product a five stars however my only issue was downloading the software and sinking to the remote. That said, in reading the reviews that seems to be a common issue so I was aware going into this purchase. Now I will say, this devise works very well. It does not have all the features that the remote has that comes with each device however for what it does have, that's all you need. Another issue is with the software - the icons for the different cable channels could be updated as well. I found a couple of icons that are not in the software. I did call into the tech support and no issues getting in-touch with a person. The issue was linking the computer to the remote, but on the third try it works. I will say, for the price it is a produce that was worth purchasing. Eliminating all the remotes and pushing one bottom to turn on all the required devises was worth it. I have recommonded this device to others.
Pros: Nice to have a product that works each time. I like the docking station.
Cons: Software and start up. Could have more features that are on the remotes that come with the device. Example - on the DVD player - the remote does not have open or close feature. Not a big deal but it would be nice.
I bought the ultimate one to replace a harmony 880 that was failing. The ultimate is decent but the touch screen is very touchy, if you accidentally bump the remote while watching tv, it might change inputs etc. I don't like it near as well as the 880 but they don't make the 880 anymore
Pros: Easy to setup and use
Cons: Very touchy touchscreen
This Harmony remote replaced an earlier model that got damaged. The set-up is clear and easy via your computer (assuming you have some understanding of your AV system), and it works very well for a complicated system with multiple devices-tv, cable box, receiver, Apple TV, bluray, etc. Crutchfield assistance was invaluable when I needed some specific settings help with the receiver. Unit is very adaptable and can change with AV system changes.
Pros: Easy set-up via computer, great for multiple devices, nice hand feel and usability, lots of customization options, adaptable as AV system changes
Cons: Some controls difficult to find via screen on remote or can be customized, if remote isn't pointed directly at all devices for a few seconds it may go out of sequence (you can add a Hub for IR blasting)
Logitech needs to hand their instructions to an " average" person & see how it goes. 6 hours to download a remote? Their tech support stinks. 3 days for an email, 30 min. on hold to speak to a rude person in another country. Still may send it back.
Pros: It will test your willpower to not hurl it against a wall!
Cons: Instructions are horrible & not accurate.Crutchfield response on 5/31/2016 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to help the customer. We'll either help him get the remote working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
I had some issue initially. After creating an online account (mandatory to configure this remote) and loading up all my component data I found the remote did not correctly transmit any of the codes/components I had transferred. I ended up resetting it from scratch and starting over. The next load seemed to work and I was able to control my components. I don't like the fact you have to be online for configuring (haven't investigated any way around it), why is Logitech requiring this? I wish they had a Linux RPM or Deb package to configure so I would not have to boot to my relatively unused Windows partition.
Pros: - It is light and Logitech had all my codes. - It fits in your had nicely and is well balanced. - Easily allows you to load your own pictures and Icons.
Cons: - The need to create a Logitech account (this isn't a Phone) - Touch screen is a little laggy in this day and age of smart phones. - It seemed reload default remote settings on several occasions when I was updating. - I haven't found a way to save your config. file separately so it prevents reloading codes online. - No battery door like my older model Logitech BT keyboard. - Not as flexibly configurable as my old Philips Pronto Pro Color. - I really, really detest having to go
A bit if a learning curve but once you get it you can set up all of your devices. As long as you keep it pointed at the devices until operations are complete (in my case around 3 seconds) it works great.
Pros: Nice style, easy to use once set up, battery lasts several days without charging
Cons: A bit of a learning curve, but way simpler to set up than older universal remotes. Can also do some slick things like program the DVD player to open the tray on power up.
Overall, now that the device is setup, it's wonderful. It controls a cable/DVR, receiver and DVD player in a closet behind the wall where the TV is mounted. This is the second one of these remotes that I've bought. The first one broke when dropped on a tile floor (from a height that shouldn't have caused a fatal blow).
Pros: It works! I've had a few different versions of this same remote and they keep getting better each time.
Cons: Setup software on the computer is a bit clunky. It's 2016 and setup should either be on the device itself or completely web-based. The need to plug and unplug the device to update it seems like a throwback. If this setup were easier, I'd have given it five stars. Due to this, I don't look forward to swapping out devices that the remote interacts with.
Way too complicated to setup for all one has to do to try to get it to work. Logitech recommends using a laptop to go to their website when problems arise, not helpful when you don't have a laptop right with you at your TV viewing area.
Pros: it looks nice
Cons: pain in the neck to setup. I'd give it minus stars if possible. I'm in the process of returning this for refund minus the "re-stock" fee. I hate being a beta-tester for Logitech / Crutchfield and having the insult of being charged for that!
My first Harmony remote and it works great with all my components. Very satisfied with all aspects of its performance. The only thing I wish they could update software to an iPad instead of just a USB
Pros: Easy of use, touch screen, user friendly, setup
I replaced an earlier Harmony product with this device and this is much easier to use and a breeze to set up. Very intuitive and I barely needed to read the instructions (like most men) to do the set up and use the device.
Pros: Simple set up, intuitive to use
Cons: When scrolling through the program guide it is difficult to move by page, rather than by individual channel
I had a much earlier remote but bought this model after I broke it. Since I am not very technically adept, I had to call on customer support to help set it up. Once I got it set up and used to the displays, I wouldn't do without it. It is very convenient, user friendly, and, if you want to forego multiple remotes, this is the remote for you.
Pros: Very user friendly and worth the investment.
Cons: I am not particularly tech savvy so I needed assistance to transfer my settings from the old remote to the new.
My Harmony 950 quit working thanks to kids and yogurt.. so I needed to replace it with a kid / senior citizen friendly remote. Took just a few minutes to program and my young kids and my 80 yr old in law was using it without asking questions.
Pros: Easy to program. Easy to use, mostly
Cons: Some functions aren't intuitive.
I was hoping for a painless installation and it was reasonably painless. I had some problems with the software used to set up the remote - like it froze twice! I downloaded it two times before it worked properly. I have only had it for 2 weeks and am still learning which buttons work which feature. I still have a table of remotes standing by for use in case I need to do something new. This product worked with all my devices except my CD player. Even going through a manual set up was of no help and I think there is something wrong with the player or the remote, not the Ultimate One. I have not spent the time to become familiar with it and have not felt the need to call for help. I will do that after the holidays . I am quite satisfied with it and will get it fully functional soon.
Pros: It is easy to reprogram and add devices.
Cons: Did not like the software issues I had during the set up. Felt that the software needs a little updating but works.
The only problem I have is that the touch screen number buttons are hard to get to react. I don't see anywhere in the setup on adjusting their sensitivity.
Great remote .. Easy to use and program
This is my third Harmony remote...I'm still using the Harmony One for a second TV. Logitech has definitely improved the app..seemless setup and icons for all of the channels being available in the app is a major convenience versus previous app. However, it is inconsistent when sending signals to devices. Sometimes it is perfect, sometimes it fails to start a device. The help function resolves the issue quickly...but it is an annoyance. Overall I like this remote.
Pros: Very easy setup. Channels icons available in the app.
Cons: Battery charge seems short vs. the Harmony One which held a charge for days.
I own 3 Harmony remotes, each one a different model. The other two use RF modules while this is strictly IR. Set up is very easy, no complaints. I have been using it for about 3 weeks and it still will not switch inputs correctly all the time on my receiver when i turn it on. it may be that its not getting the RF signal, not sure. however, if you press the Help button it will fix it right away. i have come to realize that these never work 100% of the time and the Help button is somewhat of a necessary step. having said that, combing all remotes into one and the touch-screen interface outweigh the negatives. overall i would recommend it.
Pros: Easy set up, touch screen works well, easy to navigate the menus.
Cons: Occassionally will not send the right signals to the devices and need to use the help button to re-try switching all of the inputs.
Over all I have been having a lot more issues then I did with my Harmony one. Bluetooth with my PS3 and PS4 goes in and out, sometimes I have to re-associate it. Configuring the IR Blasters better helped a lot with all the IR devices. One aggravating thing that does happen is that the remote will stall when connecting to bluetooth devices, waiting for the bluetooth device to connect. The problem is that sometime the TV is loud and you want to reduce the volume and if the BT connection fails then you stuck getting up and reducing the volume. I regularly have to reboot the IR blaster box and sometimes there is a significant delay on pausing etc. Overall I expect these to be fixed and the strength of Logitech is the fact that it can update and fix this. So this review may change in the coming months. Thanks
Pros: Converts old remote config over, easy to setup.
Cons: Bluetooth is flaky with playstations and delays on button presses are common, requiring several pushes.
So far so good. Much easier than having four different remotes and easy to use.
Pros: Display is awesome, icons are great. Set up is easy
Cons: Sometimes you have to reset up one of your shortcuts.
Great product, got the hub so that I do not have to point the remote at the devices in order to work the activities. IR sensors work well. Have a dish joey and hopper along with a sony blu ray and samsung TV. Works well
Cons: Set up is the only cumbersome part to get the sequencing right and the delays just right, but once you do it you will achieve remote "harmony"
Technically competent but very confusing. We found the remote to be functional, but are eternally confused about when to swipe left, swipe up, or pull up the device menu. Too slick for its own good. We much prefer the harmony one.
Pros: Powerful, programmable
Cons: Control motions too complex.
You can program the remote for what is called "Activities". It'll turn on the TV, it'll select the correct input, it'll turn on the receiver, it'll select the correct input for the receiver, and it'll turn on the related component (TiVo, Apple TV, Blu-Ray, etc.). While this is a one touch operation for the user, which is awesome, it is not a one-step operation for the remote. What I've found is that essentially what the remote is doing is sending out individual commands, which makes sense. The problem is while the remote is doing this, you have to keep it pointed at the IR sensor the whole time. I'm using a Niles MS120 IR sensor. Using factory remotes, I had no trouble whatsoever with the sensor. Using this Harmony, from what I've experienced, the output IR signal isn't that strong. If I'm directly in front of the TV it works great. If I'm at a slight angle, not so much. Again, no problem at all with the factory remotes. So, with that being said, since it is performing essentially five or six separate tasks, if the signal gets cut while doing this, meaning you're not pointing it directly at the sensor for 20 seconds (give or take), one of the components might not turn on, or turn on to the correct input. This is quite irritating for me. The lack of a number pad isn't the end of the world, but it would definitely be nice to have. There is a touch-screen number pad, but I found that you have to enter the numbers quickly.
Pros: I know my review might sound a bit negative, but it's really not. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit, but I just wanted to let other consumers know what I was experiencing so far. Regarding the remote, it really has a lot of benefits. It's very easy to program and very easy to use. Like anything, it will take some getting used to, but I can tell right away it won't take very long. It has a great appearance and feel to it. I would gladly recommend this product to others.
Cons: See review.
Remote arrived very fast. I had it set up to Samsung 8550 60" TV, BOSE Cinemate 130, Denon AVR-X2100W,Dish Hopper and Roku3 within 30 to 40 minutes. Working perfectly with all devises as I've programed it. Just order another one for my bedroom but this time de Harmony 700.
Pros: Relatively easy to set up and to use, no issues with any of my devices . The touch feature is awesome.
Cons: A litlle expensive yes, but I eliminated six remote controls. If you have less devices, you could probably go for the 700.
A massive upgrade from the last two Logitech remotes I have owned. I was able to add favorite channels but I have no way to add a picture on the channel button. A five, but the fast forward and rewind buttons on the top and odd to get to. Had to learn to tap instead of push to change channels. I am glad to have it. I did replace a Harmony One remote
Pros: Small, easy to set up I did it myself without help from tech support, kind of fun
Cons: Learning to tap instead of push and when swiping the channel screen it is too easy to change cannels without wanting to.
Had a frustrating 15 minutes with the website but after that all was smooth. We are definitely not power users but but the devise does everything we want it to do . When something doesn't perform as expected it is easy to get yourself back on track.
Pros: Easy set up Reliable
Cons: frustration with website and downloading apps.
Easy to use and even easier to set up. Have owned a multitude of remotes and this is the BEST ONE on the market IMHO. Love the fact that I can "press" a icon and the TV will switch to that channel, no more having to use the channel guide. The one downer is the usb cable to connect to my computer was too short, a quick trip to the store solved that problem. LOVE this remote, would love it even more if it would load the dishwasher and clean the dishes, who knows maybe some day there will be an app for that.
Pros: Easy to use and set up!
Cons: USB cord too short IMHO!
This remote can do it all. It is simple to use and to set up.
Pros: Ease of use and set up. Learning feature for the buttons it doesnt know, ability to change add and move buttons to your liking!
Cons: terminology in changing buttons during set up modification
This is an amazing and intuitive remote overall I love it, and all of its features. There is one problem with the remote. The back light for the keys makes an annoying high pitched ringing noise when on. I find the noise unacceptable on a universal remote in this price range. When I contacted Logitech their response was check for updates (I'm on the latest release), and turn the back light down. Turning the back light down helps, but I should be able to keep the light at any level I want. This can probably fixed with a software update, but until it is the review stands
Pros: good remote, can be upgrade to the harmony home
Cons: ringing backlight
So if you are remotely tech savvy setup is a snap. Hardest part is writing down all your model numbers. I had a pretty basic setup-Samsung TV, Yamaha receiver, Samsung blue ray, Xbox one, Apple TV. Other than having to upgrade Apple TV to latest software the remote worked perfectly first time. I will mention I have all my components in line of site. I have had issues with ir blasters in the past with the harmony 650 remote. I would give it 5 stars but however they decided on the remotes shape is beyond me? It's really rather awkward feeling in the hand.
Pros: Simple to use and setup
Cons: Ergonomics are pretty bad
My wife bought me this to replace 8 remotes. It worked, every control I need is on it, and if its not I can put it on.
Pros: Very easy to program works great
Cons: Kind of an adventure to find model #s on everything I wanted to control but...
Nice layout easy to use and setup. Some people have complained about the no number buttons, but they are there as a touch screen. The only complaint that I have is the paradigm soundtrack 2 is listed as an approved device, but I have yet to get it to program at least using the easy way.
Pros: Super functional Easy to setup
Cons: Can't get my paradigm soundtrack 2 programmed to the remote.
Not having another "Universal" remote to compare to, except the old Sony Remote Commander, I have to say this unit is amazing. Easy setup, good quality, and excellent feel in the hand, this unit is sure to please. Not sure I could imagine anything I would change about this remote...
Pros: Easy Setup, "Motion Wake Up" of remote, and LCD Screen.
Cons: Can't think of any...
Had to replace my Harmony 880 that I really liked and always worked perfectly. Was a little worried the Ultimate One wouldn't be as good. I was wrong this remote is a lot better than the 880. it's just as easy to set up and once you get used to it you will love it
Pros: controls everything
Unit was very helpful. Makes turning on multiple units very easy and it is easy to program also.
Pros: Ease of use, works as advertised
Cons: I wish it had a actual number pad .
I really like the Logitech® Harmony® Ultimate One. I did have to call Logitech to help with the set up but they were great and finished my setup for me.
Pros: Easy to use! Lots of quick buttons for finding common channels on the touchscreen was a bonus!
Cons: Had to call Logitech to finish the setup, because it wasn't changing to the correct inputs for my activities. I don't like the play/stop button being on the top side of the remote, which makes it seem clumsy. Also, the fast forward and rewind buttons are also the skip forward and skip back button depending on how long you hold them down, which is clumsy as well.
This product has been a great save for my marriage. No really. Read on. I have been updating my electronics over the past year. New Yamaha Avantage tuner, New Samsung plasma, new surround speakers, new PS4, etc... With all these devices, I have had to collet a bunch of remotes. My wife is the not type to not want to bother with remembering all the different inputs and settings to get the TV/Tuner/CD Player/ Pandora/etc to "work". She want to turn the TV on, and watch it, or start Pandora and listen to it.. This led to many calls for my help and she was frustrated with me for upturning the peaceful harmony (no pun intended) from before all the changes. I researched for a bit and this remote seemed solve those issues. It came neatly packaged with clear instructions for setup. Once setup was complete, I had some single button programmed for her viewing pleasure. She is happy that she is back in control and harmony has been restored. Happy wife = happy life. No?
Pros: Great design. Simple to use. Great features. Haptic feedback. Responsive touchscreen.
Cons: Battery life could be better. At this price point, Bluetooth should be standard.
If you're like me and own a large Hi-Def Screen, Blu-Ray DvD players and a good size surround system and need to control everything with one remote instead of 5 of them the Harmony is the remote to have. I bought this after doing a bit of research here and on the manufactures web site and it seems to be the best choice out there for one remote to control every piece of equipment in your system. It is so nice to be able to use one remote and not search around for 5 different remotes and learn all their features. The Harmony does all the functions of the five remotes it replaced. Easy online programming of the remote. You just tell it what equipment you own and it automatically picks up all the commands online and programs them into the Harmony. It also lets you program commands to turn on your TV, audio system, DVD player with the push of one button. This makes running the system easy for the wife (that has no idea what all those buttons are for). Every command is programmable through the remote from online by just answering a few questions. Then you unplug the remote from the computer and it's ready to go. If it runs into a problem (mine hasn't yet) it will run through a diagnostic to fix it. My only con for the remote is the touch screen is too sensitive. This is why I gave it 4 stars out of 5. But this is not a big deal considering how powerful this remote is. It's worth every penny.
Pros: Learns commands online. Easy to program. Turns on & off a series of devices with one button pushed. No batteries, it charges itself in the remotes cradle so it's always ready to use.
Cons: Touch screen is a bit too sensitive to the touch.
Harmony still makes the best remotes but they dropped the ball by not having a #pad on this model. If I want to go to the guide ( I have Direct TV) I can't start at a particular channel. They have the "Favorites" section where you enter the channel and the logo is stored in the Harmony screen but this is too awkward if you are going to HBO or high channel. I will put up with this flaw and use my Genie remote when I need #;s.
Pros: Easiest programing of all.
Cons: No # pad, would be a 5 otherwise
This device is amazing! The only thing better would be mind-reading! It is extremely easy to set up. Functionality is intuitive and complete. I love the touchscreen-no more jungle of buttons to get lost in. The device is aesthetically beautiful and fits in the hand perfectly. It's amazing.
Pros: Ease of programming, intuitive functionality, touchscreen/minimalization of buttons, beauty
The Harmony Ultimate One is a very good universal remote. The soft touch/swipe command screen is a vast improvement over Logitech's earlier designs and the management software is a vast improvement over earlier versions. The only negatives that I can see rests with the touch and swipe sensitivity as it tends to be a little too sensitive and needs a way to be dialed down and 2) No replaceable battery. Other than these two factors I can find no problems with this device and it would be a good solid product for anyone seeking a universal remote to manage their A/V gear setup.
I am still trying to get it working the way I want it. I have been having trouble getting the start up programing working correctly. I need to get it to turn on the TV and wait 10-12 sec before it tries to change the input.
I recently upgraded my home theater with a new Samsung UN60F8000 TV and a new Denon AVR-X4000 receiver and a Sony BDP-S6200 Blu ray player. So I need a remote that could handle all of these and more. The Logitech Harmony Ultimate One fit the bill easy set up all the features you will need or want. I highly recommend it.
