Sonos Outdoor Speakers reviews
Speakers sound really good powered from the Sonos amp. The tweeters appear to be a soft dome type and provide very clean and clear vocals. Woofer is a textured poly material that resembles carbon. My only complaint is they lack a little on the bottom end but you can't expect much from a 6.5" sealed driver. Other then that, they sound really good.

Sonos Architectural by Sonance: The all-new Sonos Architectural by Sonance is a collection of in-ceiling, in-wall, and outdoor passive speakers (all sold separately) designed and optimized for the Sonos Amp (sold separately) in partnership with Sonance. With a shared commitment to superior sound and great design, Sonos and Sonance partnered with the objective of producing loudspeakers that disappear into any space while providing clear sound, even coverage, high-quality performance, and ease of use.
Weatherproof Construction: The Sonos Outdoor by Sonance loudspeaker features a tough tough polypropylene enclosure and is rated for outdoor use. The outdoor speaker is engineered to withstand humidity, water, salt spray, heat, UV rays, and freezing temperatures. The enclosure can grille can be painted (make sure to use a weather-resistant outdoor paint and spray-gun).
Two-Way Driver Design: The Sonos Outdoor by Sonance speaker features a two-way driver design with a 1" fabric soft-dome tweeter and a 6.5" polypropylene cone woofer with rubber surround. The tweeter features an integrated wave-guide to help with high-frequency dispersion. The woofer provides dynamic, rich mid and low frequencies.
Note: These are wired passive outdoor loudspeakers and will require a separate amplifier and connection of speaker wire (they are not wireless or self-powered).
Optimized For The Sonos Amp: Sonos and Sonance have designed these outdoor loudspeakers from the ground up, making them specifically optimized for the Sonos Amp (sold separately). When the outdoor speakers are connected to the Sonos Amp (sold separately), the Amp will automatically detect them, and automatically adjust its sound to suit the specific loudspeakers. The Sonos Controller app (for Apple iOS 10.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) provides exclusive audio enhancements - including Custom EQ Settings, Gain Adjustment, Dynamic Bass Extension, and Signal Limiting/Loudspeaker Protection. Up to two pairs of Sonos Architectural by Sonance speakers can be powered by a single Sonos Amp.
- The Sonos Outdoor by Sonance speakers do not support Trueplay Tuning.
- These outdoor loudspeakers can also be used with other model amplifiers rated at up to 130W x 2ch into 8-ohms.
Sonos Wireless Multiroom Audio Eco-System: A connection to the Sonos Amp brings the benefits of the Sonos wireless multiroom audio eco-system to every connected Sonos Architectural by Sonance speaker, including an easy-to-use Sonos Controller app (for Apple iOS 10.0+ and Android OS 5.0+) that works with all of your favorite streaming services (Apple Music, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Pandora, Spotify, SiriusXM, Google Play Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and more ); AirPlay 2 control, regular software updates, and the ability to add additional Sonos speakers and components to expand your setup over time for an expansive multiroom audio experience.
Water Resistant Spring-Post Terminals: To increase water resistance and make installation easier, the outdoor loudspeaker's spring-post terminals are located on the front-panel of the speaker enclosure. Your speaker wire will feed through a rubber-grommet opening on the back of the speaker to the spring-post terminals on the front of the speaker cabinet. A plastic cover then snaps over top the speaker wire connections. The spring-post terminals will accommodate 18-14 gauge speaker wire.
- use 18AWG speaker wire for runs up to 100'
- use 16AWG speaker wire for runs up to 150'
- use 14 AWG speaker wire for runs up to 250'
Note: Because of the position and angle of the spring-post terminals, you cannot use pin-connectors, spade-lugs, or banana plugs.
Mounting Options: The FastMount bracket system makes it easy to mount the speakers in a variety of positions and locations - flush against a wall, in a corner, under an eave or pole-mounted (pole and u-bolts not included). You can mount the speakers either horizontally or vertically without affecting the sound quality. For vertical orientation, please ensure that the tweeter is in the upright position with the "SONOS" logo toward the bottom. You can rotate the speaker in the bracket to direct the sound towards the listening area. The speaker offers a 180-degrees of rotation. In a vertical mounting position, you can swivel the speaker left or right. In a horizontal mounting position, you can tilt the speaker up or down.
Note: The speaker also features dual 1/4"-20 threaded inserts for using optional 3rd-party mounting brackets (sold separately).
