Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay, and Bluetooth on board
The NA6005 offers lots of ways to enjoy digital tunes from various sources. For starters, you can simply plug in your iPhone or iPod to the front-panel USB port, and hear your digital library sound newly refreshed as this player's audiophile digital-to-analog converter unlocks new detail and depth for a more dynamic, involving listening experience.
Of course when it comes to music listening, it's hard to beat the convenience of wireless streaming. That's why the NA6005 lets you start playing your music easily and quickly. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to your wireless home network to stream music from computers, music servers, and Internet radio, as well as online music services like Spotify®, Pandora®, and SiriusXM, without running an Ethernet cable from your router. But if a wired connection suits your needs, there's an Ethernet port on the rear panel, too.
Apple AirPlaylets you stream music from your iPhone® or iPad®. If you have a networked computer running iTunes®, you can also use AirPlay to send music from your music library to the NA6005 for playback. If your iPhone or iPad is connected to the same network as your computer, you can use the Apple Remote app to control iTunes playback. Even without AirPlay or Wi-Fi, you can enjoy instant wireless music streaming over Bluetooth from any compatible smartphone, tablet, or computer.
There's a time and place for MP3s, but high-resolution music files offer unrivaled sound quality. The NA6005 can play high-res files with sampling rates up to 24-bit/192kHz, for sound that can exceed CD quality. You can stream these files over your network, or load them onto a thumb drive for playback through the front-panel USB port. This versatile component also plays DSD files from your music server server, or a USB thumb drive. An optical digital input offers high-quality digital audio conversion with compatible CD players and other digital sources.
The sound is in the details
The NA6005's superb sound is about more than just the Cirrus Logic DAC. Its output stage uses Marantz's Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules, which ensure highly accurate, detailed sound is passed along to your amp or receiver. Build quality is what we always expect from Marantz — both solid and elegant, with a metal front panel, extra metal bottom plate, and large feet to minimize vibrations that can introduce distortion into the signal.
App control for iOS® and Android™
When you connect the NA6005 to your home network, you can control the player using your smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi. Download the free Marantz Remote app to your Apple® or Android device and explore its intuitive interface as you explore your digital music collection with this great-sounding player.

Marantz NA6005 reviews
Do NOT buy this product! I'm satisfied with the music quality, but the connectivity is totally unacceptable. I use the machine principally with a usb formatted music library. I must constantly reset the machine to "factory settings" to make it work. It locks up during an album play, usually on the second track of an album. Very frustrating! If I had to relive my live I would not purchase this machine!

The audio quality of the Marantz NA6005 is excellent. However, its wireless function failed to work and cannot connect to the Internet. I had to use a Netgear universal WiFi adapter WNCE 2100 to connect the NA6005 to the Internet. Also, the NA6005 in not able to access the Internet vTuner service through the radiomarantz.com. Furthermore, it was noted that the NA6005 is unable to play certain Internet radio station such as "FLN Gentle praise".
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Not user friendly, weak WiFi, wireless does not work.

FAST shipping Very nice, easy to use and sounds great. I bought specifically to use with my Spotify account and it is seemless.also bypassing the DAC in my ancient CD playing and using the Marantz DAC. Huge upgrade.
Pros: Easy to use, great sound, it's a Marantz

Sound quality is great (when it's working). So what if app to control player 99% time is not working. I think Marantz is on perfect way to plunge company. I ask them so many times to fix the app. They don't do anything about that problem. Hey Marantz when you wake up it is going to be too late. I could not use this player because of the app. I returned it and I bought Yamaha. I am so happy I did that . No more problems. Finally I can listen my music collection with no frustration.
Pros: Sound quality
Cons: App to control player is Terrible!!! crashes all the time

Many times I read bad reviews and think "well that won't be me", but in this instance, I have to echo some of the other negative reviews regarding this specific product. While the sound quality is great (when it's working) the firmware is awful. As previously reviewed here - it's very buggy (others have plenty of similar reviews). It's been a crapshoot each time i turned it on as to whether it would function properly. Most of the time it was fine, but way too frequently, especially for a Marantz, it was not. I had to perform various degrees of restarts too many times, from "turn off, turn back on" to "total system reboot" to get things back on track. Regardless, that level of performance was unacceptable to me for this product and to date, Marantz has not seemed to recognize that a firmware upgrade is required. Thankfully, I had Crutchfield service and was able to return the item for a refund. Crutchfield has the best customer service and why i continue to buy from them.

This device will not connect to Pandora. Marantz and Pandora have been aware of this issue for sometime and say they are working on it, but there is no evident progress to date. Very disappointing since this is one of the main reasons I bought it. Also prone to losing connection to Internet and very balky operating system. This is the first and last Marantz purchase for me. Pretty much poured money down the drain.
Pros: Good DAC
Cons: Does not connect with Pandora

I purchased this unit almost a year ago to replace a Logitech Squeezebox which worked flawlessly. While the sound quality from the NA6005 is substantially better, the reliability is questionable at best. Have spent hours fighting with the SiriusXM connection only to have it corrected and then lose the Pandora connection. As of now, the unit simply will not recognize my Pandora account. The unit will also stop playing while on SiriusXM for no apparent reason. I have FIOS and never had this much trouble with the Squeezebox. Very buggy indeed. Currently looking to replace this with something else.
Pros: Quality sound when working.
Cons: Unreliable internet service (SiriusXM/Pandora) connection.

I have had this unit for several months and have used it to stream internet radio, Pandora, and high resolution music files stored on my PC. When it works, the results are great. It's internal DAC is good, but my external Musical Fidelity M1DAC is a bit smoother. I have been able to use it for several months at a time without problems but occasionally it locks up. There is no good way of rebooting it without resetting it to factory settings and going through the installation process from scratch. All your saved favorites are wiped out. It takes me over an hour to restore everything and I've had to do this at least twice. The Marantz support group is responsive (one to two business days) but have not come up with any solutions and apparently there are no firmware fixes in progress. I am looking for a replacement as I write this. Life is too short to be jacking with this unit, which was intended for pleasure rather than pain.
Pros: Can stream most music.
Cons: Internal software is buggy and there is no convenient way to reboot the unit.

I am using this with a Cambridge Azur amp and two Wharfedale tower speakers. The sound is excellent -- CD+ quality. It replaces a Cambridge streamer that cost about twice as much.
Pros: The Marantz delivers exceptionally clean sound from a networked drive jammed with .flac files and from Internet radio. We use it all day every day to listen to KUSC, a Los Angeles classical music station, and listen to jazz and rock files from the network drive an hour or two each day. Unlike others posting here, I had no set-up problems. The Cambridge unit (now in another room) is rather flaky, often developing a fuzzy and weak sound in the right channel and also has a rather poor interface.
Cons: The Marantz interface is not great but it is larger and more readable than the Cambridge. I have not yet had a chance to play with the iOS app but others say it is fairly spiffy. I frankly hate having to use my smartphone to do every single thing and would appreciate someone building one of these things that had both remarkable audio quality and the ability to build playlists, etc., and get a decent visual display. Can't believe it would be so hard to do.

This unit was probably a bit of overkill for the application I desired--just a simple, high resolution, wireless system to get music from my iMac in my office to my stereo in the living room. I can say with certainty that it's worth every penny though even if I don't ever use a single other function because of how easy it is to set up and connect. Couple things to note that were not entirely clear though prior to purchase. You cannot use the Marantz iPhone app to control this unit unless you have a Marantz amplifier as well. You can however still use the Apple remote app to control playback of files streaming from your Mac computer. Connecting over AirPlay is simple enough but I found that if I want to use my iPhone as remote for my iMac I must first pair my iPhone with the Marantz via AirPlay and then open the remote app to start streaming from the iMac. Trying to go directly to the remote app prior to connecting the iPhone through AirPlay doesn't register in my trials.
Pros: Easy to Use Excellent sound quality Loads of features for streaming music
Cons: Bit pricey depending on your wants/needs Limited to one digital input to use internal DAC

Great sound performance, very pleased with performance. It is a little quirky sometimes when turning on, it doesn't always find network or Spotify but not a deal breaker.
Pros: Sound performance
Cons: Drops network or Spotify sometimes

I owned an NA7004 which is an awesome player, sold it and bought this one for its DSD capabilities and bluetooth. Awesome sounding streamer, better than the NA80005, they sound same but this one is better because it has more features(FM/AM, Spotify and Bluetooth capabilities)
Pros: - Sweet sounding with Marantz house sound - Awesome features

A bit fiddly to set up, but once set up it works flawlessly. All wifi channels come in at 100% signal strength and when paired with a good amp and preamp, the sound is SACD quality or better.
Pros: Price, value, features
Cons: Fiddly setup

More details on the Marantz NA6005
Audiophile Construction: The Marantz NA6005 network audio player features a substantial chassis with dual-layer construction. Instead of having just one large circuit board, the NA6005 features multiple individual circuit cards to prevent mutual interference; even the headphone output features its own dedicated circuit board. Inside, the NA6005 is packed with premium grade active and passive components, including multiple high speed, high current Shottky barrier diodes that boast super fast recovery times and high reverse current protection, plus audiophile grade capacitors and precision tight tolerance resistors.
Exclusive HDAM Technology: The NA6005' audio circuitry employs Marantz's exclusive HDAM and HDAM-SA2 in a hybrid configuration to achieve low noise and high speed. Marantz developed these HDAM discrete circuit boards to replace standard IC's. The HDAM's consists of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. Those devices are doing exactly the same thing as the Op-Amps, but outperform the regular IC Op-amps dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate and reduced noise level, resulting in a much more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound.
Cirrus Logic D/A Converter: The Marantz NA6005 employs a Cirrus Logic advanced D/A converter (CS4398) for superb high-fidelity audio playback (2Hz-96kHz). The Cirrus CS4398 stereo D/A Converter offers several advantages. An advanced multi-bit Delta-Sigma architecture handles 24-bit/192kHz digital signals, and boasts extraordinary dynamic range (up to 106db) as well as equally exceptional signal-to-noise performance (up to 110dB) so your digital music files provide the warmth, detail, and resolution you demand.
Digital Connectivity: An optical (toslink) digital output is provided for connection to your home theater receiver or other component. The unit's optical (toslink) digital input lets you use the NA6005 as a DAC with other digital audio sources. The optical (toslink) digital connections support Linear PCM signals (stereo) with sampling frequencies of 32, 44.1, 48, 65, 88.2, 96, 176.4, & 192 kHz.
Analog Outputs: The NA6005 network audio player is also fitted with analog stereo RCA outputs for connection to your home theater receiver, stereo receiver, or integrated amplifier.
Full-Discrete Headphone Amp: The NA6005 also employs a high-quality dedicated headphone amplifier, which features its own output stage that's also equipped with HDAM-SA2 devices along with a precision variable analog volume control.

- Wireless (WiFi): The WiFi section features dual band "N" high speed auto-band switching technology that constantly seeks out the optimum channels to ensure smooth and glitch-free listening. Via the WPS and iOS WiFi protected setup buttons, you can connect your device with the NA6005 in moments.
DLNA 1.5 Certified: The NA6005 is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) 1.5 and Windows 7/8 (Windows Media Player 11/12) compliant for audio and photo networking. This means it's easier for you to access and enjoy digital music stored on your Windows PC. You can use your PC to play high-bit rate music content through the network audio player, and browse your PC's music files from the included remote control. The network audio player also supports ID3-Tag (ver.2) and META tag information; so song title, artist name, and album name can be displayed on the unit's front-panel display.
