About the Marantz PM6006
The best of digital and analog sound
The best of digital and analog sound
The Marantz PM6006 integrated amplifier continues in the tradition of its award-winning predecessor (the PM6005), while adding a few key upgrades. They've added a second optical input to accommodate another digital source, and the entire digital section is fully shielded by an extra metal housing so analog signals are unaffected by the digital stage. Connect a network music player or streaming media device in addition to analog components like a turntable or AM/FM tuner. A high-quality digital-to-analog converter decodes high-resolution audio files and improves the sound quality of your CD player. And speaking of CD players, the PM6006 pairs perfectly, sonically and visually, with the Marantz CD6006. You can even use the same remote to control both units.
Clean, dynamic power
The PM6006's clean, dynamic power will infuse your music with presence and clarity. It retains the PM6005's preamp and power amp sections, while boosting peak current at the amplifier stage for even more refined, detailed sound. A high-current power supply features a toroidal power transformer with high-current storage capacitors, so the amplifier can handle demanding 4-ohm speakers along with dynamic peaks in music.

Marantz PM6006 reviews
Hard to say anything negative about this amp. This replaced a 25 year old Luxman preamp/Adcom 100 watt amp combination. The Marantz was truly an upgrade with striking detail and clarity. I find myself just standing in the sweet spot, amazed by the sounds coming out of my Klipsch Forte II (1993) speakers. Plenty of power to drive the Klipsch, which are efficient. The loudness button was a prime feature which steered me towards purchasing this unit. This is a must as far as i'm concerned because the loudness button provides the required enhancement of highs & lows at lower and moderate volume levels. This is installed as my main system in a living room/dining/kitchen area which is a 22' x 28' open space and the sound level is adequate for long term listening with the volume control at 10 o'clock position, and it's hard to stay in the room if it is turned near half way up! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this amp! I've played all types of music through this amp and it's wonderfully reproduced. Do yourself a favor and buy one of these!
Cons: Volume level does respond quickly when remote button is pressed, not a big deal. Also need a small white dot to indicate position of Volume knob on amp.

Very happy. Paired with Wharfedale Diamond 225s bi-amped. This is replacing a Sony STR-DA80ES that was being used in a music listening room that died. Compared to what it replaced, it sounds better all around. Phono stage is great! I thought there was something wrong with my turntable (Pro-ject 1Xpression Carbon Classic w acrylic platter and 2M Bronze cart) but it was the receiver..
Pros: Sound. Simplicity.
Cons: None really. Minor grip but I wish the remote worked with my older Denon DVD-2930ci.

I'm a long time Marantz fan boy. I still own Marantz gear dating back to the 70s. I'm basically pleased with this unit. I chose it because I'm not a purist and must have tone controls. I also love me some loudness switches. Only one thing really displeases me about this unit and that is there is absolutely no front panel indication as to the volume level. Ok, two things: the volume controls on the remote are not very fluid. Volume seems to jump in increments each time the up/down buttons are pressed. I guess I can live with it.
Cons: No front panel volume indicator

You simply cannot beat the quality sound this Marantz integrated amp produces. It makes ordinary speakers like JBL Studio 180 and Polk Audio TSi 200 bookshelf speakers come to life. I purchased this amp as an open box buy but it was in brand new condition without a scratch or dent anywhere. 100% Satisfied and believe me, I am particular.
Pros: Extremely good quality sound and an excellent value,

Good receiver, but not as compatible as the NR 1608
Pros: Small size makes it an easy fit into entertainment center.
Cons: Only room for four speakers.

I bought this unit brand new in 2016. In two years I have had to ship it back to Marantz twice because it entered "protection mode" and would not work. I am extremely disappointed and would never purchase Marantz products again.
Pros: Sounds great when it works
Cons: Better have a back up plan

The Marantz PM 6006 seems to be an Excellent amp. I've had it set for about a month in a 500 square foot space. Paired with the matching CD player, the CD6006, it provides great tone and playing enjoyment. It is also a handsome unit. My CDs and records sound better than ever with more detailed acoustics in all ranges. I have it hooked up to two pairs of speakers and the amp drives them beautifully. So far very happy with my purchase. Crutchfield customer service was helpful with the set up of the 4 speakers though it was not really difficult.
Pros: Seems to work flawlessly with the CD6006; handsome units; great sound
Cons: So far nothing

After my vintage Kenwood KR 8050 passed on, there were big shoes to fill. But I now wanted to go with an integrated amp. I narrowed it down to the Yamaha A-S501 and Marantz PM 6006. After discussing all the pros and cons with Cosmo, the Marantz was clearly the choice. And I'm very happy with my decision. It performs flawlessly and brings out every subtle musical nuance with no coloration or distortion. I stream a lot of 70s folk rock, 80s synth pop as well as space music. The Marantz likes them all.

Tone Controls + Source Direct Mode: This unit has a tone control function for adjustment of bass (low frequency) and treble (high frequency) sound to produce your preferred sound. There is also Loudness feature which compensates for human hearing characteristics by boosting the bass and treble response at low volume levels to achieve a more pleasing tonal balance. The Source Direct function bypasses unneeded circuit stages (such as the tone controls) for the most direct audio path from input to output.
Aluminum/Glass-Reinforced Resin Front-Panel: The integrated amplifier's front-panel uses a carefully chosen combination of aluminum & glass-reinforced resin to create a distinctive three dimensional appearance. Indirect reflecting blue LEDs indicating input selection and heighten its elegant appearance.
Remote Control: Featuring an easy to use ergonomic design, the elegant remote control can also be user to control the matching CD6006 CD player (sold separately), as well as controlling a network player. Remote input and output terminals let you connect the PM6006 to other Marantz components, such as the matching CD6006 CD player, allowing you to place the PM6006 out of sight (such as in a cabinet) yet still providing full remote control capabilities.
