This new iteration of their USB noise filter eliminates noise generated by the component it's plugged into as well as tackling environmental RF interference. Sporting a compact design and a durable all-metal case, it's a non-intrusive way to make your music sound better. You can plug it into your home desktop PC or laptop, DAC, network streamer, or even your car radio to enjoy cleaner sound with greater dynamics and energy.
How does it work?
The JitterBug FMJ eliminates noise in both the power and signal lines of any USB interface it's plugged into. It acts almost like a power line conditioner, correcting voltage and filtering out external electronic noise. It also dissipates signal noise that your device's USB port bleeds off. On top of that, the female USB side of the FMJ has a carbon-infused rubber "door" that improves the clarity of your tunes by absorbing RF noise.
You can use the JitterBug FMJ in series with any USB-equipped audio device. You can also use a second one in another unoccupied USB port that's in parallel with the first and shut its rubber door to draw noise away from your primary USB port.
Connect it up with your existing gear
If you're using a Dragonfly Red or Black, you can plug it directly into the FMJ. If you're using a Dragonfly Cobalt, which already uses some JitterBug noise filtering tech, plug the Cobalt into a free USB port and plug the FMJ into a port that's parallel to it. If you're using another type of USB DAC, plug the FMJ into your source computer or device and run a USB cable from it to your DAC.

USB Data & Power Noise Filter: The Audioquest JitterBug FMJ is designed to remove unwanted noise currents and parasitic resonances from both the data (communication) and Vbus (power) lines of USB ports. JitterBug FMJ meets all USB 2.0 speed specifications. JitterBug FMJ's excellent performance is the result of careful design and craftsmanship, comprehensive technical measurements, and thorough listening tests. As a result the JitterBug FMJ improves dynamic contrast, warmth and resolution of your audio.
Environmental RF Noise Inhibitor: The JitterBug FMJ also thoroughly addresses environmental RF Noise through its full metal case and hinged rubber cover over its USB input. The JitterBug FMJ's full metal jacket helps to shield against RF interference, while the carbon-loaded RF noise-dissipating input-cover helps with the reduction of RF interference when used in parallel.
Dual Discrete Noise-Dissipation Circuits: JitterBug FMJ's dual-circuitry works on both the data (communication) and vbus (power) lines of USB ports. The latter reduces noise and prevents EMI and RFI from contaminating the associated digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and/or cable. The former minimizes parasitic resonances created by the computer and USB bus, and is optimized to remove noise above the USB 2.0 frequency specification, making it ideal for audio playback.
Note: When used with USB 3.0 devices, the JitterBug FMJ purposely decelerates the device to USB 2.0 specifications.
Jitter Reduction: The JitterBug FMJ also measurably reduces jitter and packet errors (in some cases, packet errors are completely eliminated). The result is a clearer and more compelling sound and overall better audio experience.
USB 2.0 Connectors: The JitterBug FMJ features a female USB 2.0 (type-A) port on one end and a male USB 2.0 (type-A) connector on the other end. The JitterBug FMJ draws no power from the source. It will not inhibit your mobile device's ability to charge its battery
Series or Parallel Applications: JitterBug FMJ is extremely easy to use and will offer reliable results for many years to come. It can be used in a series or parallel appliation. Employ one JitterBug FMJ in series between any computer, smartphone, NAS, streamer, or car audio system and a USB input. For an additional sonic improvement, use a second JitterBug FMJ in another unoccupied USB port in parallel to the first with second JitterBug FMJ's front door closed.

- Use JitterBug FMJ with other locally connected USB devices; such as hard drives, printers, and cameras, to effectively reduce audio interference.

Note: A second JitterBug FMJ in parallel is always a great improvement as it pulls more RF Noise off the USB power bus, which is why and how a JitterBug FMJ makes just as big an improvement even when plugged into service-only or update-only USB ports on many devices.
Optional DragonFly: Audioquest's DragonFly (Black or Red - sold separately) is a digital-audio converter and headphone amplifier with an onboard 64-step analog volume control. It has a USB plug at one end and a 3.5mm minijack at the opposite end. It connects to any Mac or Windows PC and bypasses the computer's compromised audio circuitry to deliver cleaner, clearer, more naturally detailed sound to headphones, powered desktop speakers, or complete audio systems. Insert JitterBug FMJ the in series with DragonFly to further reduce noise and resonances.
