See what's back there before you back up
This sleek, slim Boyo backup camera gives you a great view of what's behind your vehicle, day or night. It offers plenty of cool features and it's housed in a durable zinc metal bar that won't obscure your license plate.
Get the view you want
The camera is mounted on an up/down swivel, so you can get exactly the picture you want. With a CMOS image sensor and a wide 150° viewing angle, you'll get a crisp, clear view of what's back there when you're backing up. You can select distance guidelines or reverse image in the screen, too. The automatic white balance adjuster is a big help in bright sunlight and the frame also has built-in LED lights that really help out at night. The camera sports an IP67 waterproof rating, so you can count on it even when the weather gets nasty.
Available in Black or Chrome.
Installation Note: Installing this camera requires routing a video/power cable from your license plate to the monitor in the front of the vehicle. If you haven't done this type of project before, you should contact a professional installer.
Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.
What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)
What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.
How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.
Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.

Features
Overview: The Boyo VTL402CLS short bar-type license plate mounted camera can provide a wide 150° diagonal view from the rear of your vehicle, and includes built-in LEDs for nighttime illumination while backing up. It features a composite video output, so it can be used with most aftermarket screens and mobile video monitors (sold separately).
Zinc Alloy Housing: The VTL402CLS's short bar-type bracket is made from zinc alloy metal and covered in a chrome finish with a scratch-resistant coating. The camera's waterproof (IP67) housing is made from the same long-lasting, durable material. The rear view camera can be angled up and down within the bar-type bracket for optimal camera aiming.
Rear View Camera: The VTL402CLS rear view camera features a highly sensitive 1/4" color CMOS image sensor with approximately 322,752 effective pixels (656 horizontal x 492 vertical) for true color reproduction and clear picture quality. The camera features a wide-angle lens with a 150° diagonal viewing angle providing an excellent field of vision behind your vehicle.
LEDs: The Boyo short bar-type license plate camera includes 2 built-in LEDs for added visibility at night and in low-light conditions. A push-button switch is provided for turning the LEDs On and Off. When off, the VTL402CLS has a LUX of 0.5. With the LEDs turned on, it can provide 0 LUX.
Switchable Features: The VTL402CLS includes 3 small push-button switches, attached to the dash end of the 28' video/power/ground cable, letting you easily turn their respective feature on or off. Each switch is labeled with its function and includes a color-coded band for identification:
- White: Activates Parking Guidelines.
- Blue: Switches camera image from Normal to Reverse.
- Green: Turns LEDs On/Off.
Installation: The VTL402CLS attaches to your vehicle's existing license plate frame with the supplied hardware. The integrated rear view camera features an attached 20" video/power/ground cable which connects to the supplied 28' video/power/ground extension cable. The extension cable is then routed from outside of the vehicle through your vehicle's interior to your vehicle's display monitor or optional stand-alone monitor (not included). The composite video connector of the extension cable needs to be plugged into the composite video rear-view camera input on your display monitor. Power and ground wires for the camera get connected to the vehicle's reverse wire and ground location in the dash area.
Note: The camera's power wire should be connected to the vehicle's reverse wire to prevent the LEDs from inadvertently being activated while driving.
