Easy Installation, bad quality

Hunter from Beaver, UT on 8/15/2019

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Very easy installation with it being from crutchfield, their instructions are great, but the speaker quality was not. I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado and I put these in the front door and I hate to say it but it was definitely a downgrade or equal to the stock speakers. They are not up to par with bass either. So unless your speakers are shot then I would not recommend these speakers!

Pros: Installation quick and easy

Cons: Quality of speakers

Crutchfield response on 8/20/2019

An excellent speaker value. Mids and highs on par with more expensive speakers. Lows are decent with power amp. Would definitely recommend for replacement door speaker upgrade.

Pros: Clear tone

Cons: Lows need amp but this expected with this size speaker.

Rice Krispies

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Purchased a pair of these speakers a year ago for my 2012 F150. The right speaker is known as Rice Kriispies. It snaps, crackles and pops. The left speaker is fine. Only order these speakers if you want to replace one every year. The sad part is I don't listen to music only to talk radio.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Poor sound, last only a year

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I put four of these in an 88 Jeep Cherokee to replace the stock sound. What an improvement! These P-52Bs have more bass response than I was expecting and can handle the power of the aftermarket JVC Head unit. Unfortunately one of the Metra harnesses Cructchfield gave me did not work so I had to splice wires instead of using the factory speaker harness. I'm satisfied!

Pros: Great bass response Clear crisp sound Easy install

Cons: Supplied metra harness did not function

Another huge bang for the buck product. I am using a Rockford Fosgate punch 250 to run them. Highs are a bit strained, but overall sound quality is good. Mounted nicely in the kick panel. I will purchase again.

Pros: Easy to install, clean clear sound

Cons: Highs are a bit strained.

I had to turn down the Kicker tweeters I bought along with the Sound Ordinance P-52B's before I could hear the great sound. The first thing I noticed was the strong bass, which my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee didn't have. The beat of the bass drum, and bass guitar came in nice and clear, no distortions. The whole thing sounds amazing.

Careful with low efficiency

Mike from SAN Francisco, CA on 5/2/2017

2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Pay attention to the efficiency rating. These are only 88db which is quite low. Compared to the Polk 6.5s I installed in the rear with a 93db rating I need to send much more power to these to keep them balanced. Can't hear them with the Jeep top off at freeway speeds so they are coming out and Polk db521 with a higher efficiency will be going in. Even the stock speakers sounded better. Might be ok on top of a dash where the windshield reflects the highs well but not great in the low dash where highs get gobbled up by upholstery. Don't forget the boom mat baffles!

Pros: Price

Cons: Low efficiency, dull highs.

Sound Ordance P-52B work great as replacement for stock speakers. I added a pair to the front of my 2011 GMC Canyon WT. They seem to work great with my Pioneer DEH-X6800BT CD/ receiver/ radio and the Rockford Fosgate Prime R165X3 speakers in the rear doors of my extendend cab. They provide clean sound w/o using an amp. Second, for the amount paid, You would be hard pressed to find speakers of equal quality with hardware and instructions included for under 40 bucks!!

Pros: Clean sound for the $$$$

Cons: None to date

First, Crutchfield's service and ease of navigating the website is outstanding. The included instructions and accessories for installation were spot on and everything went together perfectly and was a simple task. My daughter is very happy with the improvement in the sound, and so am I; to the point I'm going to order matching speakers for the rear pillars in her PT Cruiser. The difference between the tinny, weak factory speakers and these are night and day. Thanks for the great product and ease of transaction.

sounds good, bad fit in BMWe36

JoeS from Louisiana on 11/14/2015

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers for my 92 e36 based on Crutchfield's compatibility recommendation. They were the right diameter for the speaker recess of the factory kick panel speaker. The mounting tab holes don't line up however. I was able to "convince" two of the screws enough to hold the speaker in place. There wasn't any adjustability in the speaker mount holes in the car body, nor on the speaker frame mount itself (just like the pic shows). I proceeded forward anyway, having somewhat installed the new speaker. Then found that the tweeter housing protrudes a bit too far and theres not the proper clearance between it and the back the kick pannel. The panel will fit into place but has a bulge where it's pressed hard up against the tweeter. Since its a 23 year old car and this is the least of my cosmetic concerns, I guess it will do for now. I dont feel like sending them back and waiting for different new ones. They sound OK and that's my main concern. If I had to do it over I'd get ones with slotted mounting tabs and a more flush fitting tweeter. But I'm psyched to no longer have a blown speaker.

Pros: Sounds good for the value

Cons: Not an optimal fit for my model car

Good sound but I've just replaced some blown out speakers so it wasn't hard to beat that. The speakers look nice in the back and fit well behind the door panel up front. The only issue was getting the foam ring to stay put when installing the speakers, usually there is adhesive on the foam but these didn't have that.

Pros: Look good, sound good

Cons: Foam mounting ring should have been sticky.
