About the Cambridge Audio AXA35
The centerpiece of a high-fidelity sound system
The centerpiece of a high-fidelity sound system
I like an effective, versatile stereo system in my living room, and the Cambridge Audio AXA35 is the type of component I like to build around. It's classy-looking and easy to operate. It matches well with an efficient set of bookshelf speakers like the Cambridge Audio SX50 and provides plenty of power to fill small- to mid-sized room with beautiful music.
The AXA35 offers plenty of analog inputs for old-school source components, like Cambridge's AXC35 CD player, and there's a built-in phono stage if you're a vinyl junkie like me.

Features
35 Watts x 2 Channel: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 integrated amplifier delivers 35 watts x 2 channels into 8-ohms @ 20-20kHz with 0.15% THD.
Tone & Balance Control: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 offers Bass & Treble control, along with balance adjustment. You'll be able to adjust Bass (100Hz) & Treble (10kHz) from -10 to +10dB, as well as adjust the balance in sound output between the connected left and right speakers.
Line-Level RCA Inputs: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 integrated amplifier is outfitted with four line-level analog RCA inputs for connection of external audio source devices - such as a CD player, tuner, tape-deck, Bluetooth adapter, or network streaming device (all sold separately).
Phono Input: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 has a built-in Phono preamplifier (Phono Stage) with a rear-panel phono input and ground terminal. The phono input supports turntables outfitted with Phono Cartridges of the Moving Magnet (MM) or high output Moving Coil (MC) type (between 2-6mV output and 30-50k load impedance). The Ground terminals on both the AXA35 integrated amp and your turntable should be connected (where possible) with a ground wire for lowest noise/hum pickup.
Note: Low output Moving Coil cartridge types (<1mV and usually 10-1000 ohm load impedance) cannot be directly connected to the phono input and will require an external phono preamplifier (sold separately) compatible with low output Moving Coil cartridges.
Front-Panel Aux Input: The front-panel Aux input consists of a 3.5mm minijack for connection of a portable audio device with an analog line-level or headphone output. When a device is plugged into the front-panel Aux input, the integrated amplifier automatically switches to the Aux input. Because the output level of many portable audio players is low, the AXA35 automatically adds 10dB to the Aux input's current volume setting.
Record Output: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 integrated amplifier features a stereo RCA record output for connecting a CD recorder, tape deck or other compatible recording device. The record output provides a constant line level output that does not fluctuate with the volume of the integrated amplifier.
Note: The Record output cannot be used as a preamp output or subwoofer output.
Binding Post Speaker Terminals: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 is equipped with a set of binding post terminals for connecting a single pair of loudspeakers. The binding post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). Plastic caps need to be removed from the binding post terminals in order to use banana plugs. Use only loudspeakers with a nominal impedance rating of 8-ohms.
1/4" Headphone Jack: The front-panel 1/4" headphone jack allows for connection of a set of stereo headphones with an impedance between 32 and 600-ohms. Connecting a set of headphones will automatically mute the integrated amplifier's speaker outputs.
USB Charging Port: There is a USB-A (5V/500mA) port located on the back of the AXA35 integrated amplifier that can be used to charge your smartphone or tablet, or supply power to a Bluetooth adapter.
Note: This USB port does not support audio playback.
Front-Panel Display: The integrated amplifier's front-panel display indicates selected input source and menu selections, as well as volume, tone, and balance levels.
Simple Controls: The Cambridge Audio AXA35 offers front-panel and remote control. Front-panel controls include a rotary volume dial along with power, source, and menu buttons. The included IR remote control provides full wireless operation of the integrated amplifier.
