iDatalink meets Chrysler

iDatalink's HRN-RR-CH2 interface harness allows you to connect a new car stereo in select 2004-10 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles, working in conjunction with iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR or ADS-MRR2 module. Once connected, you'll retain the use of your steering wheel audio controls and your factory amp in these vehicles.

The package includes connectors that plug in between the Maestro module, your Chrysler radio's wiring plugs, and your new car stereo. You'll have to solder or splice together this harness's power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output wires to the corresponding wires on your aftermarket receiver's wiring harness.

Keeping your factory features with an iDatalink-ready car stereo

If you're buying a compatible iDatalink-ready car stereo, you'll enjoy the outstanding performance of your receiver, plus seamless touchscreen control over most of the factory features in select Chrysler-built vehicles. You'll also be able to display engine performance data and other vehicle info on your receiver's screen.

Installation note: The HRN-RR-CH2 harness must be used with the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR or ADS-MRR2 module to connect a new car stereo to your Chrysler-made vehicle.

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Click here for a list of compatible Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles.
  • Radio Compatibility: Click here for a list of fully compatible aftermarket head units with an iDatalink Serial Port.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-RR-CH2 installation harness requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately).

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR (ADS-MRR) will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

Retained Features: The following factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your factory radio with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-CH2 installation harness.

  • Steering Wheel Controls
  • Analog or Digital Amp with Turn On, Fader, & Gain
Note: When installing an aftermarket head unit without the iDatalink Serial Port, only steering wheel control & amplifier turn-on are retained.

Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC. Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-CH2 installation harness.

  • Performances Gauges
  • Vehicle Information (TPMS, Doors, Check Engine)

Connections: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-RR-CH2 installation harness contains two Molex connectors which plug into your factory radio harness. On the other end of the harness are four multi-pin connectors which plug into the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module. In addition, you will need to hardwire the power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output leads of the HRN-RR-CH2 harness to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness.

Note: When using the HRN-RR-CH2 installation harness, you will not use the additional harnesses that are included with the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Does this harness connect 07 grand Cherokee factory connection to a Pioneer AVH-1300NEX?
nick  Dec 25, 2018
1 answer
A
Hey Nick, Yes that iDatalkink t-harness would work in that Jeep with that Pioneer. It is only one piece of the puzzle though. You still need the main iDatalkink Maestro RR unit. Here is a complete cart with all the install gear you would need including dash kit, antenna adapter and some wire connectors. https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc888/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=2143236 If you have any questions about that setup or want to have someone double check you have everything you need before you place an order you can chat with or call one of our Product Advisors here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB --Cosmo

A
The Bluetooth built-into your JVC stereo is not reliant upon the iDatalink harness to work. We do have a 60 day satisfaction guarantee period on all purchases: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/returns.aspx For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
Is this what I need to allow power to my factory amp in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
05cherokee  Mar 12, 2018
1 answer
A
In compatible vehicles, the iDatalink HRN-RR-CH2 will retain factory amplification when installed with the Maestro ADS-MRR integration module: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/item.html and a compatible aftermarket stereo model. For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram Mega Cab. Just an SXT trim level. How do I know for sure if the advertised "displays engine performance data on touchscreen with select Alpine, JVC, Kenwood and Pioneer receivers" will function with my vehicle?
nik  Feb 13, 2018

A
If your truck has those functions built in, then plugging this in with your new head unit that also has these functions will work properly. I installed this in my 07 ram big horn with a Kenwood DDX and it shows everything, if a door is open, tire pressure, reads engine codes and can clear them, everything

The link we have to iDatalink's web site on the Details portion of this page as well as the page for the Maestro ADS-MRR module will let enter your vehicle, choose the radio you are considering, and then see what abilities will work. One thing you must choose is a receiver with the iDatalink input which is one of our filter options when looking through video capable receivers. Also, an advisor can help make a personal recommendation for you on this too. You can reach an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

2006 Dodge Ram 2500. Would this harness work this factory amp without steering wheel controls? I'm not clear why I would need the module. Please explain
rider  Feb 04, 2018

The vehicle-specific wiring harness does not work on it's own; it requires the iDatalink ADS-MRR integration module which has the programmable firmware for retaining factory features such as steering wheel controls and amplification: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/item.html For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly by phone or through our online chat service: https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx
