Works with just about any radio

Even if you're installing a radio that's not iDatalink-ready, you'll still retain the use of your steering wheel audio controls and your factory amp in these vehicles. The package includes connectors that plug in between the Maestro module and your factory radio's wiring plugs. You'll have to solder or splice together this harness's power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output wires to the corresponding wires on your aftermarket receiver's wiring harness.

Installation Note: The HRN-RR-HO1 adapter must be used with the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR module to connect any new car stereo to your Honda-made vehicle.

Works well with the other part to hook it onto my kenwood and keep the steering wheel buttons fully working. I do have to admit however, I don't think it was truly worth it as it made 5 buttons work.

Wouldn't try to install a stereo without this

Peter from West Chester, PA on 8/25/2017

2006 Honda Civic EX

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Wouldn't try to install stereo without it. Makes the wiring job doable for the average Joe. Let's me select what function each steering wheel button will do. Note that you need a Windows PC, not a Mac, to program this devise. With the PC the software configuration was easy. I misread something in the instructions and called for help. The tech was great and walked me through what I needed to do for my specific car.

Pros: Everything you need (except the wire nuts) I can pick what function the steering wheel buttons do. Great tech support via the phone.

Cons: There are a lot of wires Need a Windows PC (and Admin rights on the PC) to program the interface box.

Do not skip getting one of these for your maestro

Patrick from Mechanicsville, VA on 5/16/2017

2006 Honda Civic SI

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This is a must have if you are using the Maestro, its simplifies the process to the point of taking minutes not hours to install. take some time to solder and heat shrink to the radio harness and its completely plug and play after that.

Pros: plug and play

Cons: honestly none.

Features

Honda/Acura Harness: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness greatly simplifies the installation of the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module (794ADSMRR, sold separately) in select Honda & Acura vehicles when replacing your factory radio with an iDatalink Serial Port compatible head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, or Pioneer (click here for a list of fully compatible radios); or other aftermarket head unit.

Notes: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR (794ADSMRR).

Vehicle Compatibility Chart: Click here for a list of compatible Honda & Acura vehicles. Or, click here to find out what works with your particular vehicle.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR (ADS-MRR) will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

Retained Features: The following factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your factory radio with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, JVC, Sony, or Pioneer using the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness.

  • Factory Amplifier
  • Aux Input
  • Bluetooth
  • Steering Wheel Controls

Note: When installing an aftermarket head unit without the iDatalink Serial Port, only steering wheel control & amplifier turn-on are retained.

Connections: The iDatalink Maestro HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness contains five Molex connectors which plug into your factory radio harness. On the other end of the harness are four multi-pin connectors which plug into the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module (794ADSMRR, sold separately). In addition, you will need to hardwire the power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output leads of the HRN-RR-HO1 harness to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness. There are also stereo RCA connectors to plug into your aftermarket head unit's rear-panel Aux input. In addition, stereo RCA connectors connect to your aftermarket head unit's front, rear, and sub pre-outs.

Note: When using the HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness, you will not use the additional harnesses that are included with the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module (794ADSMRR, sold separately).

Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine using the Maestro RR Car Radio Replacement Interface module and HRN-RR-HO1 installation harness.

If by control you mean either to get it to thump more or less then yes. Assuming you're replacing your factory radio/head unit and this adapter is for your vehicle. Recommend reaching out to the CF team for confirmation. They were extremely helpful from getting all hardware for my vehicle to even guiding me through the phone how the wiring should be done.
