About the iDatalink KIT-FTR1 Factory System Adapter

Install a new radio in your Ford truck

You bought a 2015-up Ford pickup — it's a great vehicle, but its dashboard makes it difficult to upgrade the factory radio. The iDatalink KIT-FTR1 factory system adapter (along with the Maestro ADS-MRR module, sold separately) gives you everything you need to install an aftermarket double-DIN (4" tall) stereo and wire it up to your Ford pickup with its 4.3" My Ford radio. With any car stereo, this package retains your amplifier and backup camera (if equipped), along with your steering wheel audio controls.

iDatalink to the rescue

Install an iDatalink-compatible car stereo from Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, or Pioneer, and you'll also retain your truck's SYNC features, including hands-free calling and music streaming. You'll also retain the fader control and full functionality of your factory amplifier, along with your rear seat entertainment system (if present). You can set up gauges on your new car stereo's touchscreen to check engine performance and other vehicle data, such as tire pressure, battery voltage, and "door ajar" warnings. You'll be able to choose which gauges you'd like to appear on the screen, and you'll even be able to check the engine codes when a warning light comes on.

Features

Ford F-Series OEM Integration Dash Kit & Vehicle Harness: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-FTR1 consists of an OEM integration dash kit and vehicle harness designed specifically for select 2015+ Ford F-Series trucks with the 4.3-inch "My Ford" factory radio. The KIT-FTR1 lets you replace the "My Ford" factory radio with an iDatalink Serial Port compatible head unit or other aftermarket head unit using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module (sold separately) . Click here for a list of compatible Ford F-Series trucks.

Note: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-FTR1 requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately) and the download of a vehicle specific firmware from iDatalink's Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac).

OEM Grade Fit & Finish Kit: The KIT-FTR1 OEM integration kit features a factory grade fit & finish to match the contour and color of your vehicle's dash. In addition, the KIT-FTR1 comes with a convenient storage pocket to keep your smartphone device. The storage pocket includes flush-mounted dual USB ports, one HDMI port, and a Aux 3.5mm input for your head unit (if applicable). Both USB ports support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality (with compatible headunit and phone).

Vehicle Harness: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-FTR1 includes a vehicle harness which inserts into the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 interface module (sold separately), plugs into your vehicle's factory radio harness, and hardwires to the harness of your new aftermarket Double-DIN receiver. The installation harness contains two Molex connectors which plug into your Ford F150's factory radio harness. On the other end of the harness are four multi-pin connectors which plug into the Maestro RR or RR2 interface module (sold separately). There is also a backup camera harness with a composite video connector which allows you to retain your vehicle's factory backup camera.

Retained Features: The follow factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, or Pioneer using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and KIT-FTR1 installation kit.

Customer Q&A

6 questions already asked

Q
Do I need a Maestro ADS-MRR if my truck (F150 2020) doesnt have steering controls or a touch screen? Just a back up camera (straight stock with roll up windows). I dont beleive it has an amp either.
[ Chris  Jul 24, 2020 ]

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
what about the preexisting usb ports down below. Would they still be functional? Along with the additional 2 added?
[ Kyle  Jul 22, 2020 ]
2 answers
A
no the pre-existing USB ports will not work once you take out the factory radio.
[ RAYMOND  Jul 22, 2020 ]
A
Yes, the ones down below still exsist and function.
[ Timothy  Jul 22, 2020 ]
Q
If I do not have back up cam or steering wheel controls do I need to purchase ADS-MRR module?
[ Wes  Nov 20, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
Yes you will need the ADS-MRR module to use this kit. There might be other options for installing a radio into your pickup and I recommend contacting an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 to check

Q
Why is the OBD connector used?
[ Austin  Apr 23, 2018 ]

A
On the Kenwood radio it is capable of showing Tire pressures and many other engine and other data, speed.fuel level, exhaust and intake temperatures and other thing I believe it will show quarter mile time. All of this data comes from the obd connector.
[ Kelly  Apr 23, 2018 ]
A
The OBD2 connector is used to display certain vehicle information on the aftermarket stereos scream
[ Greg  Apr 23, 2018 ]
A
I don't know. I had it installed by a professional.
[ clinker  Apr 23, 2018 ]
A
You can monitor you vehicle and get warnings.
[ Gary  Apr 23, 2018 ]
Q
The details tab on the iDatalink KIT-FTR1 list "retained features" and sirius is one of them. I have a 2017 F150 and the sirius radio already has a lifetime subscription. Can I keep the factory sirius if I add a new touchscreen navigation deck or will it require a new sirius reciever?
[ Skrappy  Feb 20, 2018 ]
2 answers
A
I think MOST nav units are SiriusXM compatible -It's really more up to what type of stereo you are installing than it is the Maestro unit. I know the tuner antenna module to plug into my Kenwood was only $30 and I used the factory antenna. Sirius swapped my sub right over to the new module no problem.
[ Scott  Apr 22, 2018 ]
A
The kit will only retain the factory SiriusXM tuner when it's external (not built-into the factory stereo chassis) and in all versions of the 2017 F-150, the factory satellite radio tuner is built-into the stock stereo chassis.
