About the IsoAcoustics GAIA II

Kramer Crane

A stable foundation for your speakers

IsoAcoustics knows that small details matter when you're trying to squeeze every drop of performance out of your high-end loudspeakers — and the GAIA IIs can help. These stainless steel isolator feet replace the existing screw-in feet of your floor-standing speakers. They give you more consistent performance and better sound by reducing vibrations and other acoustic distortions.
IsoAcoustics GAIA II speaker isolation feet

The GAIA II isolator feet give you better sound by reducing vibrations and acoustic distortions.

How do they work?

The GAIA IIs isolate a floor-standing speaker from its mounting surface. This eliminates the transfer of energy from the speaker to surrounding surfaces, which means you'll hear clearer, more transparent sound. Think of it like speaker "flotation" — similar to how a car's shock absorbers work.

Easily change your speaker angle

You can adjust each GAIA II's height, which allows you to raise the front or back of the speaker. This lets you make sure that the speaker's tweeter is pointed directly at your ears for the best performance.

Use this calculator to determine which set of GAIA feet are right for your speakers.

Well-earned accolades

The GAIA isolation feet recently won EISA's (Expert Imaging and Sound Association) award for best hi-fi upgrade for 2019-2020. Read more about the award here.

Note: This package includes four isolator feet for one floor-standing speaker — you will need to purchase two sets for a pair of floor-standing speakers.

Product Research

Features

GAIA II Isolator Feet: Isolating speakers to mitigate coupling is critical, but attenuating reflecting vibration coming back from the hard supporting surface and resisting off-axis oscillations delivers great acoustic accuracy and focus. When a speaker is placed on a hard surface, secondary internal reflections result. Any artifacts of this smear that is similar in the two channels is perceived to be in the center, causing the sound stage to collapse. IsoAcoustics' GAIA II isolators eliminate this smear resulting in a larger and more natural 3-dimensional sound stage.

Note: This package includes 4 isolator feet for one floor-standing speaker. You will need to purchase two GAIA II(s) for a pair of floor-standing speakers.

Compatibility: The IsoAcoustics GAIA II is designed for a wide variety of floor-standing speakers weighing up to 120 lbs. The GAIA II replaces the existing screw-in feet of your floor-standing speakers. It comes with M8, M6 and 1/4-20 hardware to thread into the bottom of your floor-standing speaker. The GAIA II measures 2.0625" in diameter and 2.0625" tall. The GAIA II are adjustable allowing you to angle the front or back of the tower speaker.

Note: Use the IsoAcoustics Calculator to determine which set of GAIA feet are right for your speakers

IsoAcoustics Patented Design: The GAIA II isolation feet incorporate IsoAcoustics' patented design principles to deliver extraordinary acoustic results. GAIA II provides a high degree of isolation while resisting lateral movement and oscillations to maintain alignment with the listening position. Internal reflections from the hard-supporting surface are attenuated resulting in greater sound clarity and openness.

Machined Metal Housing: The GAIA II isolators are finished in an elegant machined dark chrome metal housing. High-quality metal construction incorporating IsoAcoutics' design philosophy deliver extraordinary acoustic results.

Simple Installation: Remove your floor-standing speaker's existing threaded feet and install the GAIA II isolators in place of them (M8, M6, & 1/4-20 hardware included). Optimal results are heard by installing the GAIA II isolation feet with the logo facing the listening position, or rotated 180-degrees, to align the isolators with the speaker's motive forces. Now place the tower speaker into position as the GAIA II isolators will adhere to the supporting surface.

Customer Q&A

5 questions already asked

Q
Why does IsoAcoustics (Gaia II) say displaying their logo to the front on all 4 feet makes a difference? Just seems like a marketing thing to me.

A
Because they prevent motion in that direction. That means can push as if on spikes. Actually, the logo should be in the same direction as speaker drivers - toed in. The other directions are free to move. It's in their description.
rio  Nov 14, 2022
A
Yup, just branding. The logo would serve no other purpose.

Q
How do these work for standmounts on heavy stands? I have Audio Note AN-E on heavy, mass-loaded stands. Will Gaia feet improve the sound when placed under the stands?

A
The Gaia set that I purchased are intended to replace the spikes for my tower speakers. They improved all aspects of performance. Better overall imaging and separation. They will not work under stands. Isoacoustics maks a puck like isolator that you may find is appropriate for your stands. Enter
gregory  Dec 24, 2019
A
I'm not sure. I don't have any experience with a set up like that.
allen  Dec 24, 2019
A
I believe the IsoAcoustics Aperta 300 stands would work better given the Audio Note model you have. The isolation feet you are asking about are designed for floor standing speakers as replacements for the Feet or spikes.
douglas  Dec 23, 2019

I had them under both a pair of Elac speakers on heavy sand filled stands and currently under of pair of Tannoy floor standers. Although they did improve the sound of the Elac's they really make a big improvement under the floor standing Tannoys. Decembers issue of Stereophile lists them as receiving one of their product of the year awards with several of the magazines writers using them under their equipment.
gary  Dec 23, 2019

I'm not sure. I have them under my Nola KO floor-standing speakers, which weigh 110 lbs. each. They definitely made a difference. I'm guessing they would make a difference for you, too. I can't think of any reason that improving the vibration damping at the interface with the floor would NOT improve your sound, even if you're using stands under your speakers. Note that the Gaia feet come in three versions, designed to support different weights. They are designated I, II and III. I talked to IsoAcoustics about this; they said there's no need to buy sets rated for higher weights than your speakers with their stands.

Q
The IsoAcoustics online calculator says I need "GAIA II with 3/4-16 threads. The 3/4-16 threads are available through IsoAcoustics Distributors" Is Crutchfield one of the distributors that would provide those threads? What is the process for ordering them? Thank you
vegeta  Aug 17, 2019

A
The GAIA II's come with three different thread sizes one of which ,the largest, fit my Tannoys so I didn't have to special order. Sorry I can't help you with an answer. Gary
gary  Aug 24, 2019
A
The proper thread adaptors come in the box with the GAIA's. Crutchfield is a registered distributor. I also have 2 sets of the GAIA's and 2 sets of the OREA Bordeaux's. I love them. The improvements they made are easily identified immediately. Order them; install them; enjoy them - you'll be happy you did!
jason  Aug 24, 2019
A
I recommend talking with a Crutchield rep via chat or call them. I was able to use the standard threads that come with the Gaia IIs.
douglas  Aug 24, 2019
A
The ISO Acoustics isolators come with three or four different sizes of threads in the package to fit; if any of the threads don't fir into slot of your equipment or speakers the manufacturer will accommodate you with the specific size of threads you need. Hope this helps Regards
raymond i  Aug 24, 2019
A
That's a question for Crutchfield directly. They come with four or five thread sizes and pitches, not sure if what you need is one of them.
stephen  Aug 24, 2019
A
Sean Morrison is the contact at isoacoustics website. Have your order# available and he will facilitate with the supplier to get you the size you need.
gregory  Aug 24, 2019

Hi Vegeta, I don't have an answer to your question. I would contact Crutchfield directly and they would be able to provide you with the information you need. They have some of the best customer service in the industry. Hope this helps.
allen  Aug 24, 2019
A
The Gaia footers come with several different threaded rods with diameters. I needed a different size for my Focal speakers. The manufacturer was happy to provide them free of charge based on my purchase from Crutchfield. I think they key is to buy the product from an authorized dealer.
christopher  Aug 24, 2019

In my case, I had a pair of Monitor Audio PL200 which took a thread size not included. I believe I called IsoAcoustics and worked the issue with them. Memory serves me, they sent me the correct size.

Q
hi can gaia ii support electra 1038 their web site said I should use the gaia I at 2x the price electra 1038s weight at 112lbs ???. thanks from a newbie

Hi, the info that I read on the IsoAcoustics website indicates that the GAIA II's are appropriate for speakers weighing up to 120lbs so I think they will work great with your Electra 1038's!!
ian  Jan 22, 2019
A
I should think so. I use the gaia 2 with my monitor audio pl300iis that weigh 120lbs. each.
trevor  Jan 21, 2019
A
ISOACOUSTICS website states that the Gaia lol can support up to 120 pounds. I would base my decision on their website. My speakers weigh 108 pounds and I use the ll's.
gregory  Jan 20, 2019
A
Gaia II can handle 120lbs with ease.
tommy  Jan 20, 2019
A
I'm very happy with my Gaia IIs, but my speakers (GoldenEar Triton Ones) weigh a bit less than 100 lbs each. At 112 lbs each, I think yours would compress the Gaia IIs too much which would compromise their ability to isolate vibrations from and into the floor. I think the extra cost would be worth paying. I hope this helps.
martin  Jan 20, 2019
A
I don't see why not. I have Tekton Enzo XL's on my gaia ii's and they weigh 80 lbs each. IsoAcoustics web site states the weight cap for the gaia ii is 120 pounds. If your Electras come in under that you should be ok. Nice pair of Focals by the way.
gary  Jan 20, 2019
A
Confused by the question. What is the weight range of the Gaia II?
brooke  Jan 20, 2019
A
The Gaia ll is supposed to support up to 120lbs. So the Electra 1038s come in under that. You should be ok. I have mine under GoldenEar T-Ref. And they work well.
douglas  Jan 20, 2019
Q
Are the Gala 2 worth the money from IsoAcoustics ?

A
I installed the Gaia ll on my set of towers. I have experienced an improved sound-stage on many of my vinyl records since. The 'Doors LA Woman' sounded incredibly better. I have no regrets.
gregory  Aug 24, 2019
A
Yes, they were for my system. I have a pair of Focal 1028 Electras and they improved the bass and clarity of the speakers.
chris  Nov 28, 2018
A
To be honest, I am unsure as I did not conduct a before and after test. I needed to replace the low cost spikes that came with my new speakers for a hardwood floor. In the end, the speakers sound excellent using these solid and high quality feet. I am glad that I got them.
ward  Nov 25, 2018
A
Definitely yes. The improvement in Stage, width depth and height is amazing.. There is an over all smoothness and easy flow of music that is hard to define. The best 700.00 spent for the most sonic improvement tweak ever. A friend of mine bought a set and he says the same. Just do it, you will not be sorry
charles  Nov 25, 2018
A
Absolutely. They are pricey but once I replaced the stock spikes on my speakers with these the improvement in sound was immediately apparent. Highly recommended.
gary  Nov 25, 2018
A
The short answer is :It depends. I have relatively expensive speakers (Monitor Audio PL200 IIs). Given their price it was worth installing the Gaia IIs. Second, I am a 2 channel listener. I want the best audio experience so I do not mind including a tweak or two to extract that last bit of high end performance . It seems to me that if you are thinking about using the Gaia IIs for low budget speakers and /or a home theater system, then I would say no.
brooke  Nov 25, 2018
A
They definitely are worth the money.
