Our take on the IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R200Sub Monitor Stand

If you're investing in a top-of-the-line studio monitor or subwoofer, why not invest in the stand that ensures its optimal performance?

Make your subwoofer sound its best

If you're investing in a top-of-the-line studio monitor or subwoofer, why not invest in the stand that ensures its optimal performance?

This IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R200Sub monitor stand employs the same principles as the best professional studios to simulate speaker "flotation." Thanks to a patented design, the IsoAcoustics stand eliminates the transfer of energy from your speaker to surrounding surfaces, which means you'll hear clean, accurate sound with every listen. With a fixed tilt and height of 4", the stand measures 7-3/4" wide by 10" deep to accommodate a subwoofer at least 7-1/2" wide. Use IsoAcoustics' size calculator to confirm this is the right stand for your speaker, or if you have a particular speaker in mind, check out IsoAcoustics' reference chart.

Praise for the IsoAcoustics speaker stands from Audiostream

"If you use desktop speakers, you owe it to them, to your ears, and to your music to try the IsoAcoustic speaker stands. If you are currently not using anything, they will elevate the musicality of your speakers by far more than inches, providing greater resolution, improved bass response, and a more focused sound image. They will in short make your speakers more enjoyable to listen to and that is more than worth the price of admission."

Small but effective

Ricky from Bellevue, IA on 9/22/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

PROS: Nice isolation from floor and the bass is tight and focused. You'll feel it in the gut instead of the energy going into the floor. I recommend this stand. BTW, I have a Klipsch R-10SW sub. CONS: Seems a bit undersized for something that is suppose to support a large speaker footprint like a sub. Time will tell if it's stable enough, if someone bumps into the sub and it falls over. I hope not.

Great Sub woofer Stand

Danny from Howard Beach! NY on 8/15/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was very very easy to put this stand together with minimal effort. I was very surprised to see that the stand was able to uphold my valodyne subwoofer which ways I believe 60 pounds. I had the woofer sitting on its original foam packaging for two years what a difference in sound and clarity using this Stand. It's definitely worth the investment .

Pros: It's worth the investment trust me .

Cons: None

Great product use on Zu Audio Omen speaker and brought the sound stage up from the floor like make the speakers disappear refine the sound to a smooth sounding speaker.

Pros: easy way to make your speakers disappear

Cons: speakers are 12x12 product only 8x10 wich they had a 12x 12 size

I was skeptical but willing to give it a try

J S from Brookfield, WI on 4/7/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was skeptical, but two audiophile friends strongly urged me to try them, so I figured I had nothing to lose with a 60 day return policy. I started with a pair of stands for my Harbeth SHL5. I ordered the sub stands because they provide a larger base for the Harbeths. The Harbeths were already sitting on very rigid shot filled stands, so I wasn't expecting the ISO's to make an improvement, maybe even be detrimental. At best I was prepared to perform extensive, lengthy listening tests looking for subtle differences, and questioning whether I was hearing any differences. As soon as I added the ISO's, it was one of those jaw dropping OMG experiences. There is an online video from the company that demonstrates the effects of using the ISO's, and my results correspond - improved clarity, larger deeper soundstage, and tighter base. I immediately ordered a third ISO for my subwoofer, and heard another layer of improvement. At this price it was a no-brainer.

Pros: Improved clarity, wider and deeper soundstage, tighter bass.

Cons: I raises the height of the speakers, so the adjustable stands might be required. They don't improve the overall appearance of the speaker/stand setup.

Great for apartment living!

Michael P from New York on 1/17/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product has eliminated my problem with vibrations being transferred to the floor of my apartment. Neighbors are HAPPY now! I can still enjoy good bass. I highly recommend this product if you live in an apartment and need to isolate your subwoofer!

Best stand for heavy speakers

Constantin B from Sunnyvale, CA on 10/31/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R200Sub Monitor Stand is the best stand for heavy, high-performance monitors, which I found after extensive Google research. Its engineering design is outstanding. The weight of the speaker is supported on four rubber terminated aluminum tubes, each sliding inside one upper and one lower rubber muff (see manufacturer's picture). This makes the sound propagate from the speaker into the listening room without engaging room's hardwood floor (my case) into the vibration process. So, the sound is felt like floating in the air. Besides the technical design, the appearance of these black stands is in perfect harmony with my black Polk Audio speakers. The manufacturer recommends them primarily for subwoofers, but they can be used for heavy floor-standing speakers as well.

Pros: Engineering design, acoustic performance, general appearance.

Cons: Not yet found.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Overview: The IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R ("isolator") speaker stands are designed to raise your speakers or studio monitors off of the tabletop or floor and angle them toward your ears. The stands have a unique floating design which isolates and decouples the speaker from the mounting surface to eliminate acoustic distortion. This ISO-L8R200Sub is black in color, and is designed for powered subwoofers.

Note: This package includes a single speaker stand.

Application: The ISO-L8R200Sub Subwoofer stand is designed for subwoofers used in professional studios, project studios, and home theater settings. They should be used with subwoofers with cabinet dimensions greater than 7.8" wide and 10" deep, and weighing up to 75 pounds. For larger applications, you can use two stands to evenly distribute the weight.

PIF Principles: IsoAcoustics ISO-L8R stands are designed to support the PIF Principles of acoustic design:

  • Placement: The proximity to adjacent and nearby surfaces. The stands raise the speakers off the supporting surface and away from adjacent surfaces to reduce reflections.
  • Isolation: The stands decouple the speakers from the supporting surface to reduce the energy from exciting other objects. The speaker is allowed for float independently.
  • Focus: By raising and tilting the speakers, the stands create an ideal listening position. The speakers should be tilted to the listeners ear level, and positioned to form an equilateral triangle from the speakers to the listener.

Construction: The ISO-L8R200Sub subwoofer stand consists of top and bottom isolator sections, made of high-density plastic, with high-modulus co-polymer isolators on each corner. Four rigid steel tubes, approximately 3/4" in diameter and 4" in length, are inserted between the isolator sections, making the stand 5-3/4" in height. The combination of the isolators and steel tubes significantly absorbs and dissipates the energy coming from the speaker so that it does not travel to the mounting surface. This allows the speaker to "float" independently, eliminating acoustic distortion. The subwoofer delivers more punch and clarity, and the sound stays in the room, rather than traveling through the floor to disturb others below.
