Get the most from your digital music

If you get your music from a device instead of a disc, you need a receiver that's designed to get the most out of your digital music collection. JVC's KD-X330BTS digital media receiver handles all your devices, plus it gives you the power and sound-shaping tools you need to make your music sound fantastic.

Ready for your Android™ phone

Android® users can control Pandora® right from the stereo through the Bluetooth connection — no wires needed. JVC's Smart Music Control app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures. With your Android phone safely attached to a mount, you can reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road. You can also control your Pandora and iHeartRadio stations with this receiver.

JVC KD-X330BTS with remote

Remote control included

It's great with your iPhone®, too

If you're an iPhone® aficionado, this receiver gives you more than wireless control — you get voice control, too. Talk to Siri® Eyes Free technology to make calls, choose music, get directions, and more. Anything you can do with Siri can be done with this receiver.

App control is everything these days, and this JVC is ready to rock. You can check out Pandora, iHeartRadio, or Apple Music through this receiver and access basic controls on the screen display. For added convenience, the 2-way control feature lets you pick music using the receiver's controls, or you can use the phone itself.

Hear your music the way you like it

The KD-X330BTS plays MP3, WMA, WAV, and FLAC files, so you'll be able to enjoy all your tunes when you travel. You'll find a wide array of sound-shaping tools, including Sound Response to boost frequencies in digital files, Space Enhancement to match the sound to the size of your car, and a 13-band graphic equalizer. The 24-bit DAC brings the best out of your tunes, and the Volume Link EQ boosts specific frequencies in the audio signal to compensate for road noise.

Automatic pairing makes it a lot easier to enjoy hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming, no matter what kind of phone you're using.

Make a USB connection

With your smartphone connected to the KD-X330BTS, you can listen to your phone's internal memory as one source and access its microSD card as another. You can also pair two phones at once, so you don't have to choose between the personal phone and the work phone when you're driving.

The Drive Change feature allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the JVC's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives. You'll also appreciate the port's powerful 1.5-amp high-current charging capability.

Tune in to satellite radio

If you're a satellite radio fan, you can connect a SiriusXM® tuner and start enjoying the wide variety of music, sports, news, and entertainment available. If you haven't experienced satellite radio, you'll be blown away by the incredible selection of music and more that comes with your subscription. Plus, you can drive all the way across the USA without losing your favorite channels.

Expand your system for better sound

The KD-X330BTS gives you two sets of preamp outputs, convenient if you plan to add amplifiers to your system. When it's time to add a powered sub, you can switch the rear preamp outputs over to subwoofer mode to control your bass from the receiver.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Nice for the Price, needs a little tweaking to be great.

Anonymous from Davidson, NC on 7/11/2017

I'd give it four starts, but there are stability issues and the shuffle/random problem (that others mention) where is plays the same 'random' playlist from the start each time you turn the unit off (after finishing playing the current song). I fix might be to select a random starting point on the playlist each time the unit powers back on. USB play is the key feature for me. Firmware update helped some of the USB stability problems. If you have one of these, check for firmware updates.

Pros: Good Sound Bluetooth features work nicely Simple to install with kit Reads a large USB fairly quickly.

Cons: USB Shuffle playlist repeats same songs Occasionally 'freezes' when playing USB. (had to do a reset) Displays folder name, but not Albums title on USB when playing song, Can't see much of folder name when scrolling through to select a folder, a "folder number " is displayed, which takes up unneeded space.

For a budget stereo, it is good. I only installed it last week, but have been pleased so far. I bought an "open box" and the Bluetooth mic was missing, so I just installed it yesterday. I had some issues with the Bluetooth connectivity, so the jury is still out on that. By the way, Crutchfield was very quick to send me a new mic.

    Pros: Price, features

    Cons: Bluetooth connectivity issues

    Great Unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great unit for the price. It was easy to install thanks to the kit and instructions Crutchfield sent me. It sounds great, even through my old factory speakers (soon to be upgraded.) The controls are friendly and easy to use. I appreciate the wireless Bluetooth connectivity to my phone.

Pros: Bluetooth, slim design, smart controls

    Cons:

You get what you pay for

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The aux input is so noisy that I can't use it. Even the USB input is noisy, although it's quiet enough to be covered up once music is playing. Despite setting the HPF settings to pass through, I'm still not getting the bass response out of this unit that I get when plugging my phone straight into my amp. Even the DAC itself on this thing just doesn't sound as clean as that on my phone. When my phone is plugged in via the USB jack, the JVC app automatically starts playing a random song from the music files on my phone until I switch the USB mode out of auto. I'll be returning this.

Pros: Bluetooth works reasonably well with my phone.

Cons: Poor sound quality, noisy, interaction with my phone over USB is ridiculously annoying.

This unit does everything I expected it to do. Bluetooth works flawlessly with my iPhone. (If you go by the instructions in the manual, and not just going through Bluetooth test mode.) Sound is nice and works great with my factory replacement Kicker speakers!! My only complaint, if I had to have one, is it just looks cheap to me. Why can't it function like it does, but look more like a factory unit? Less chrome and flashing lights?

    Pros: Works great

Cons: Kind of cheap looking. Most are though...

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in my 2003 Toyota Camry. I used the standard wiring harness and bypassed the JBL amp. It sounds just fine to me. (I am not an audiophile). Make sure you read the installation instructions provided by Crutchfield. I mainly use the Bluetooth functionality for listening to podcasts. It paired easily. The Bluetooth volume can be adjusted so the volume doesn't blare when switching from Bluetooth to radio. I like that the display dims with the headlights and the amount of display brightness is adjustable for both day and night settings.

Pros: Easy Bluetooth use Display brightness controllable Good sound quality for average listeners

    Cons: None so far

Great functions on this radio, she really loves the Bluetooth function so she can play her own music. For the price of this radio you can't beat it!

Pros: Easy install. All the functions you need for a radio under for a modest price.

Bought and installed this for my teenage sons 2006 Honda Civic. Fantastic stereo for the price. It was easy to install and works great. You really need to read the operators manual to learn all the features or it's not easy to use. Once you read it you're fine. If you don't use CDs and you use your phone, get this stereo. You'll love it. On the down side, the installation kit for installing into 2006-2011 Honda Civics is bad. I rated it a 2. Read the reviews on the Scosche install kit. Look at the lower ratings and you'll see the issues. That did not affect this radio review though. I still give this radio a 5.

    Pros: Everything.

    Cons: None.

Good replacement for the stock system in a 2000 Lesabre, although the EQ needs some tweaking after install. (I probably should watch that how to video! haha!) I'm not sure on this version, but I know my only complaint from this JVC digital receiver series is that the only feature of the phone that works when not in bluetooth or USB mode is a phone call. The sound for Siri (GPS dictation , etc) just goes into silence. A little annoying that you can't hear GPS directions when listening to the radio.

Pros: Quality Sound, good FM Reception, fairly easy to use

Cons: iPhone features while in FM/AM mode aren't fully functional

This is a good unit. However, I did a firmware update and now it won't play files from a USB drive. I sent it back to JVC for repair and it came back with the same problem. 2007 Mazda B Series
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is an excellent unit for the price, with a painful caveat every time I use it. First, the good stuff: Device integration, via either Bluetooth or USB, seems to work quite well. Once my phone is paired via Bluetooth, it will pause the music playing from the USB thumb drive when I get a call. This was unexpected usability for the price. Also, the steering wheel mic that comes with the unit seems to work quite well for phone calls even in my noisy small pickup. I've taken a few phone calls this way and the other person always seems to be able to hear me fine. I am using FLAC files on a low profile USB thumb drive. The specs say FLAC files must be encoded at 48 kHz, but I am using 44,100 with no noticeable issues. The unit does seem to take awhile to initialize in this configuration; I have not tried with other file formats. I have found that the folder structure on the drive can make a difference. I used to have the drive setup like this: USB Drive > FLAC folder > Artist Folder > Album Folder > Song.flac. I have since removed the FLAC folder, leaving all the artist folders in the main directory of the device, and this significantly speeds up initialization when I start the vehicle. The problem: I prefer to randomize my entire library by hitting the random button three times for "all random." This works until I turn the vehicle off and back on, at which point the unit reverts to "folder random" or something. I have to change back to "all random" w

Pros: Inexpensive Supports FLAC! Good Bluetooth functionality iPod/iPhone and Android compatible Surprisingly good microphone

Cons: "All Random" setting is not persistent on restart Startup is a bit slow (at least with FLAC files)

    Works well, small complaints

    2005 Toyota Tacoma
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good value, sounds good. I mostly play a collection on a USB drive so I took a star off because the random playback feature is only random once--it plays the songs back in the same order every time even after pulling the drive or cycling between the playback modes. The phonebook feature is only partly functional--I can see my contacts but can't retrieve the numbers--admittedly this could be my phone (Kyocera Brigadier) even though it says it's compatible with PBAP. Bottom controls for presets and such are tiny and can be fussy to use if your dash adapter has a little shelf under and in front of the unit which is the case for my Tacoma.

    Pros:

    Cons:

Seemed like a feature-packed unit. Bought it with specific intention of using USB flash drive to play MP3s. Trouble right away. Support blamed it on Flash Drive brand, then formatting, then file size, etc. I tried Several top-tier flash drives, formatted according to JVC spec, and I get Sporadic play, at best. It'll play Terrifically for a few days, then It gives a "NOT SUPPORT" display on faceplate. Works, then doesn't. Works, then doesn't. What A Mess. Look for another unit, or find better "Support"

Pros: Feature-Packed [on paper]. Good power output & Line Level Output.

Cons: Tedious Menu in unit, Terrible "Support", limited remote function, lacking Faceplate Case to protect [WHY have detachable face, only to get it all scratched up ?], convoluted button layout, Inconsistent Operation, Especially USB & FM Reception Would Never Buy Again ... and pretty disappointed w/ Crutchfield, too.

    Ed from Maine on 11/4/2016

Not bad, I suppose, for the price but the buttons are way too small and have too many functions. It is extremely difficult to tune and the menu system is far too complicated to do things like adjust the fader. The Bluetooth allows pairing to only one audio device at a time which is common, I guess, but annoying. Pairing can be problematic but maybe that too is common. A minor annoyance is that the remote cannot turn the unit off/on, really now how difficult would that be? All in all I will probably upgrade to a higher priced Kenwood which I should have done in the first place.

    Pros: Ok audio quality

Cons: Small buttons make simple things very difficult

I ordered this for my 2000 malibu to add bluetooth calling , I had just installed a similar Alpine unit in my Work van for the same reason. the Alpine was not available when I went to reorder so i chose the JVC for the price. While it works well , the buttons and the menu are very difficult to use - the settings menu is difficult to navigate, The phone settings such as mic gain can only be made in phone mode. Just not intuitive at all. The Alpine for the same price is so much easier to use. If I had saved the box I would have returned the JVC & waited for the Alpine. Fortunately car is not my main mode of transport , So i'll deal with it.

Pros: Sound is good, Bluetooth works well - Inexpensive. a

Cons: Poor Control layout , hard to use menus - Mic Gain defaults to LOW volume & can only be adjusted in Phone mode, not from main menu - I dont want to carry an instruction manual to use my Radio , it should be intuitive. Labels on buttons so small you need a magnifying glass to identify. and functions are hard to figure while driving ( shouldnt have to look at radio ) There are better options at this price point ( ALpine )

The stereo was easy to install and the directions were very easy to understand. Bluetooth has a slight lag during phone calls, but other than that, it works great. When using Bluetooth for Pandora, sometimes it takes a couple times to connect, but that could be on the phone side. I would like to be able to dim the stereo at night, but it's not that big of an issue. I saw others had a problem with visibility during the day, I have no problems. Great stereo and I would recommend!

5 stars for the price. I've had it installed for just over a week now and I'm really impressed with the functionality and performance of this receiver. The sound is decent and I have more adjustment/control over the sound then I expected for the price. The Bluetooth functionality is great too, both for calling and for audio. I'm not super impressed with the microphone for hands-free calling, but it works well enough in my old noisy truck. The remote is nice to have but a bit minimalistic and you have to have it pointed directly at the unit for it to work. Again you can't beat it for the price.

Replaced stock head unit, but kept original speakers. This simple change made a world of difference in sound. I haven't heard in excellent car sound in years. This one does that. There are two features I don't like. #1 Plugging in the USB and listening to Pandora off my phone. Instead of controlling via the phone, the head unit takes over. In order to change Pandora stations, you need to rotate the dial. This is cumbersome. I just want to quickly look at the phone and change songs/stations. It's very annoying. #2 When disconnecting the USB, the head unit defaults back to a list of all possible audio sources. In order to find FM radio, which is likely what most of us would do, you have to rotate the dial or press source several times until FM radio appears. This is annoying! It should default back to FM automatically. So, despite great sound, good features, these two characteristics really aggravate me!

I probably would give the stereo 4 stars and Crutchfield support 6! We just wanted to replace the factory stereo for my son's Chevy without breaking the bank but allowing him to use handsfree for calling and bluetooth for streaming music. This was not the cheapest option, but certainly not the most expensive. It sounds great - but what's even better is the group of individuals supporting us through the install process. We are not exactly wrench turners, but enjoyed the challenge. The one big thing about this is that the factory amplifier needed to be rewired in the trunk - take your time if you need to do it that way, but much better than running new speaker cable to each new speaker.

Pros: Affordable and allows for handsfree phone usage.

Cons: No HD radio - but seems few models in the price range offer that.

I'm not an audiophile, I just wanted Bluetooth and USB which I got, kinda. Actually the Bluetooth works well and the radio gets excellent reception bit the USB leaves A LOT to be desired. It takes about 5 minutes to index a 32GB USB stick (1gb happens on about 10 seconds) and it has to index it every time you turn the far on or even switch inputs (FM radio to USB for example). Annoyingly it won't play antisocial whole indexing so if you're running errands you basically have music about half of the time. The navigation on the USB is also painful as it only displays folder numbers, not names and there's no search so just put it on random and hope for the best! Also the JVC Android app doesn't seem to do anything, it just insists I don't have it plugged in, meanwhile continually scanning my phone but not playing music nor allowing me to choose any other input... The display is disappointing, using a busy LCD with low resolution. This makes it hard to see track names etc. If I cared more, I'd send it back

Pros: USB port FOR CHARGING. Great FM reception

    Cons: USB integration is terrible

Just installed it, was pretty straight forward using the Crutchfield instructions and Posi connectors. All the features work pretty well. My biggest complaint is that the "iPod" controls are a bit different from a USB dock in that you can't make or receive phone calls when using the USB audio. Phone calls can only be made when paired in bluetooth (or in Aux mode I suppose). If you try and make a call on your iPhone when plugged into USB audio only the call will go through but the audio won't be piped through the radio. Just a little warning

JVC Package, instruction's and peripheral equipment arrived well packaged. Instructions were easy to follow. Installation was completed in 4 hours. If I wasn't 75 it could have been done in two. I called the service hotline to get some particulars on the SCOSCHE interface between the radio and the 800 watt amplifier that came with the car. This wasn't my first dance with with Crutchfield though as I have been purchasing their radios and associated equipment for over 20 years. I have never been unsatisfied by their products or service technical assistance.

Pros: Everything you need (Cept) tools come with your order all interfaces are easy use. I installed the latest in a BMW M3 and all connectors clicked into place, the face plates that come with the package fit perfectly and matched the rest of my dash. This was a tight squeeze as BMW cramm's a lot into small spaces. Best of all, if you save your original equipment, it is easy to re-install when you sell , because connectors provided by Crutchfield match perfectly with the manufacturer's equipment

Cons: Really didn't have any Con's. Crutchfield has thought of everything for all the makes and models. I have used their products in Buick, Ford Truck and Auto's, Chevy, Toyota and now BMW.

    1997 Ford Taurus GL
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well, got this and was at first impressed with it. Then I noticed that when I wiggled it a tiny bit, the +12V on the supplied wiring harness would come loose, causing the unit to shut off and reset. Yes, I am sure it is the fault of the wiring harness. I solder all my connections so they aren't loose. Once I got used to the new sound my system was putting out, I noticed some bad things.. There was a lot of distortion in the sound, and the amp would severely clip in some songs, particularly bassy ones. The song I noticed it the most on was Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me, 2012 remastered. The lower register sounded terrible and was virtually all clipped. Mind you, this was with the volume set to 26/35 and my iPhone plugged into the unit so I could use the onboard DAC. I know it's not my speakers, I'm running 2 sets of JL C2-570x. They're great. I'm glad the onboard amp didnt damage them. I plugged my phone in via the AUX connector and voilà, audio is 10x cleaner and I can turn the volume up to 28/35 before distortion. I connect my phone via Bluetooth, and the exact same distortion happens as when I was connecting the phone via USB. When I ran sine sweeps over USB, there were distortion harmonics generated once I reached 10kHz, no matter the volume level. Unacceptable. TL;DR: Onboard DAC is terrible. Awful. Worse than my iPhone's. Will distort audio at all volume levels. Distorts test tones (!!)

Pros: Looks cool... Works via AUX.

Cons: DAC is bad. If you want to hook your phone up digitally, this is not the head unit for you.

Great media player for the money. Bluetooth works great. Links up automatically every time. Sound is as good or better than the factory radio it replaced.

Pros: Low price. Bluetooth. Hands free calling. USB.

Cons: Call quality is lacking. Not horrible, but could be better. May be the mic. Doesn't like to be plugged up to USB and connected with Bluetooth at the same time. Seems to get a lil confused. Not a deal breaker either.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

REALLY appreciate Crutchfield's installation instructions and having the install template for my older Buick. This unit is a huge improvement over the worn out stock unit. There are a ton of options to listen to streaming stations, FM, Aux; settings for the unit itself are wide; more than I understand, but I was able to make audio setting edits so my speakers stood out a bit more. The unit made the stock speakers sound MUCH better. I can get a lot of FM stations but I find AM station pick up weak. I'm not too sure that is the unit's situation or the in-window antenna of the car. It was easy to install; we soldered the harness to the stock wiring and applied heat sink sleeves vs using twist connectors. I am super pleased. Thank you Crutchfield for making this super easy for me. I have never changed a system out before. I'm a 50+ yr old female, so I needed the ABC, step by step help. You guys rock!

Pros: Crutchfield makes it super easy to pick a stereo for any make and model vehicle. this was a 96 Buick, so I wasn't even sure I could get new tunes. Install was easy; the template was perfect; Crutchfield sends the correct wiring harness. It couldn't be more convenient; especially for a 1st-timer like me. kid is ordering next out of my experience. Thank you!!!

Cons: unit has so many features, I cannot recall all the steps I read in the manual; (handy to have a physical manual!); most of the options I will not have to access often tho. If you want to know the unit, read the manual. Yes, there is a learning curve but it isn't beyond anyone's ability who is willing to read. I am very happy with my experience. :)

Great stereo. Blue tooth works great. Fairly intuitive to operate. A little tricky to install in the jeep but good videos on line to help with this. Wiring is simple and straightforward

Pros: Good look intuitive to use plenty of options and sound eq choices

Cons: Tricky to install in jeep but don't let that stop you. Also the face plate and mounting are cheap plastic. All holds together ok but feels a bit rickety. Pretty minor cons overall. Drives the amp very well and would buy again

The different effects recorded in the songs are emphasized with the receiver. As for the features of the receiver; Impressive List! My purchase decision is one the best I've made. If you're looking to enjoy your music on the road, this receiver WILL enable you to do that.

    1999 Mazda Miata
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed to replace the original Mazda radio/single CD player to add bluetooth capability for coupling to my iPhone , thus providing hands free phone and voice control of navigation, music etc. This unit provided this , with the added bonus of a USB connection for charging etc. Sound quality was OK - limited mostly by the base factory speakers. Installation was easy. The provided tools, instructions, and wiring adapters allowed the hard stuff to be done before the physical installation. I was also adding a power antenna which was easily accommodated by the unit. The range of capabilities of the unit is more than I need, and I switched some of them off to limit the choices and complexity of use. In this respect I HIGHLY recommend reading the Users Manual to get this all sorted out. I downloaded a copy from the JVC website rather than try to read the tiny, faint text in the one provided by JVC! I now find the unit easy to use. The unit faceplate design is not as subdued as the original Mazda stereo, but not too garish. Some of the button icon are not well illuminated, but one learns which is which fairly quickly. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase, and would recommend it to others. I cannot comment on build quality as I have not used it for long, but it looks reasonable.

Pros: Easily fits in the Miata. Good installation instructions from Crutchfield, the added free hardware is excellent. Meets all my needs.

Cons: I could wish the power antenna control only operated when the FM or AM source was selected, rather than when the unit was on.

    Excellent!

Absolutely love this head unit. The 13 band equalizer really makes it easy to manipulate your system to sound exactly how you want it. I like the 2 channel output, which made wiring easy to separate sub and speaker signals at the amp. Overall awesome head unit!

Pros: Great sound 13 band equalizer Sub level control 2 channel output easy bluetooth functions

Cons: Slightly hard to understand controls at first, nothing that can't be solved by spending some time reading the manual.

    1994 GMC Sierra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've only had it installed about a week, but so far it's working and sounding great. It is very easy to navigate through the menus, and choosing from the preset EQ's is simple. I love that it has the 13-band EQ for specific tweaking, too. Syncing with my Bluetooth phone was easy. I only have four 4x6-inch speakers hooked up, so it isn't going to sound as good as it might through larger speakers or into an amp and sub. But it sounds fine for me...my only complaint is that the FM radio sounds significantly lower quality than streaming audio from my phone...I know that radio always sounds were than quality digital music, but this seemed like more of a difference than I am used to hearing. I wish the display had more appealing letters and numbers to read, but at this price it's fine. The Build Quality is good, and all of the buttons have a nice feel to them. Overall, I recommend this head unit.

Pros: Lots of features...Bluetooth, external microphone, multiple EQ presets, adjustable 13-band EQ, good button placement, the main knob functions as Play/Pause button in addition to menu selection and volume. Build quality seems good. Sound quality is fine for a lower-priced head unit. Two sets of preamp outputs is a plus.

Cons: I think the FM radio sound quality is quieter and less full sounding than I would have expected, compared to streaming audio from my phone. I do the same thing in my other car and there is much less of a difference. Maybe it's the antenna, given that this is in a 1994 truck. I wish the display was easier to read, as far as the font.

I really like the radio, it worked so much better than my old one. It does take a little time to get used to the setup. But is pretty easy once you do. The bluetooth automatically connects to your phone which is really nice. But it is a little bit finnicky as the radio plays the audio quickly until it catches back up with the phone. this only occurs when you first connect. It is a small price to pay for an excellent setup for such a low price. and the microphone works really good, i was only using as a joke but it actually works really well.

Pros: bluetooth, fairly loud, microphone works really well,

Cons: Bass adjustment is a little difficult to find, audio speeds up when connect bluetooth until catches up to phone

Pros: -Easy to install. -Bluetooth streaming works well with my phone.

Cons: -Radio preset buttons are too small and hard to push. -It's disappointing that a modern unit such as this one is worse than a fifteen year old stock radio on a frequently used feature. -USB playback is only supported on flash drives or phones formatted as FAT32, which kind of sucks but you can obviously work around it.

Being Fathers Day, I ran out of time so hoping for next week-end. In addition to a great radio, Crutchfield technical support was a pleasure to work with. The plan was to add Bluetooth to the existing radio. Ultimately, that turned out to be as labor intensive as replacing the radio and didn't do anything for the quality of the sound system. The JVC KD-X330BTS wasn't much more expensive than a bluetooth adapter and has more features. So, if I have to take apart the dash, it's going to be to install an upgrade not just add bluetooth.

This JVC has a lot of features for the inexpensive price, although it's not the most user friendly radio out there. It takes awhile to get it set up and get used to the controls. Once you have it figured out it's not too bad for the price. I haven't tried the bluetooth so I can't give a review on that.

Pros: SiriusXM compatable, USB and AUX ports, detatchable face plate, remote control and bluetooth features.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i needed a new receiver because the CD in my stock 2003 Expedition radio died, and I wanted Bluetooth for streaming. This JVC seemed like a good balance of features at a great price -- especially with Crutchfield's epic support. The unit is extraordinarily light. The sound (keep in mind that sound is more a measure of speakers than the unit itself) is very good, but requires using the EQ PRO settings to get a decent balance, and even then seems heavily weighted toward bass - I had to turn off all subwoofer, push down low end, tame mid-range, and punch up the high freqs to get any kind of balance. With the same speakers, my stock system produced much better, more balanced tone range. Volume is great. Has low gain/high gain options. Menu structure is a bit obscure and overly branched, but ultimately functional. BT is, as with many receivers, tweaky -- I MAY have figured it out -- we'll see. The Crutchfield wiring kit isn't exactly right for my Expedition, but customer service is working to get it resolved. We'll see.

Pros: Nice looking, great volume, deep menu

Cons: Bass-heavy (muddy) sound, menu structure obscure, manual doesn't describe the use of the unit very well (but it can be figured out), BT tweaky

Great blue tooth radio with Ipod USB interface that navigates the Ipod and cell phone directly through the radio. Phone calls come through the radio & speakers with no problems. Making and ending phone calls and music listening resumes no problem. For sure match this radio with better speakers then the cheap factory installs that came with Chevy Express Van.

Pros: Great features for the price - USB Ipod interface, blue tooth for the phone, great sound when upgrading to the Crutchfield recommended JVC speakers. Speakers were 1/2 price at time of radio purchase, glad I upgraded. . Easy pairing via blue tooth for the phone. Easy to make/receive calls. Barely read instruction manual for these tasks, very simple to figure out. Reading the manual later reinforced radio usage and features. FM tuner picked up more stations than even my new Nissan Rouge did.

Cons: Busy buttons because of the single DIN footprint. Wanted a double DIN JVC with CD player, which has a larger footprint, but none in stock that would fit the Chevy Express Van, so I chose the smaller single DIN radio only.. I have a heavy touch and bad eyesite without bifocals on, so smaller buttons on single DIN footprint are more difficult to locate and manipulate. I don't use the bifocals to drive. Kind of learn and memorize button placement. Other than that, no Cons.

This unit has great sound, the equalizer options are fantastic. The buttons are very, very small however, so anything other than the source and the volume takes a little while to find, hard to do while driving. My main complaint is the shuffle feature is awful. I use a USB drive for the most part and so I use the shuffle feature extensively, and this unit is terrible for that. The shuffle randomized the Playlist one time, when you first select the option. Then when you turn the vehicle off, it finishes the song you were last on, but then goes back to the very first song on the randomized list, so you listen to all the same songs again. Very annoying especially if you are on short trips because you will only hear the same 2 or 3 songs.

    Pros: Great sound customization.

Cons: Terrible shuffle feature. Small buttons.

Very pleased. I purchased the KD-X330BTS to replace the factory radio on a 1998 F150. Installation was very straightforward; I chose to solder the harness kit together, so that took bit longer than using crimp connections. The trim panel fit perfectly, and the documentation was complete. I had one question that Crutchfield support answered quickly. Bluetooth audio works easy and well; and hands-free phone operation works well. Nice to have a USB port. My biggest surprise was how much this unit improved the sound in the vehicle without changing the factory speakers. Radio sounds much better than before. Menu system takes a bit of learning, but nothing that will stop you dead in your tracks.

Pros: Ipod connectivity, either via usb or Bluetooth, microphone for hands-free calling, great sound, easy install, removable faceplate

Cons: No option to change illumination color.

I upgraded from my factory unit and decided to go with this JVC unit since Crutchfield was running a special. I primarily use the Bluetooth feature which connects to my phone automatically once I get into my car. The equalizer settings are plentiful while also offering basic settings for beginners. Definitely recommend thus far after using it for two weeks.

Needed to replace my factory radio which had developed problems. Saw this unit witj 50% of 2 sets of JVC speakers so I took the plunge. My truck did not have bluetooth so I love being able to make and receive phonecalls handsfree. Also nice as most of the music I listen to is on my phone. This radio has the ability to search for music on your phone several different ways. Don't use pandora or the other stuff so can not comment on that. Only draw back is the tiny buttons, but I'm sure I'll get used to those in no time. If you're looking to replace your factory radio, this is a deal!

My boy is turning 16 and I wanted to install his first aftermarket radio for him. It really brought me back. The unit doesn't have a CD player so I can continue to through all of my scratched ones away, thank goodness. This unit was very easy to install. I priced this unit from a major retailer and the unit itself was $15 cheaper. BUT.....Crutchfield will send you the antenna adapter and wiring harness. They will also send the kit to fit it into the dash. The retailer will charge over $50 for all of that stuff. I consider myself o.k. with wiring and car repair stuff. From when we started splicing the wires together to running down the road talking to my wife over the microphone through the stereo was about 2 hours. I needed my by to hook up his phone to show me how it worked. Anyway, it fit the bill and everything worked when we plugged it in. The sound was very good. My jeep has an amplifier built into it and the music could be easily heard from the outside with the windows shut. That is a requirement for a teenager. I appreciated the quick ship and the decent instructions. I had to view youtube once or twice to gain the confidence that I could do it myself and that helped. I now want to buy one for my Toyota and let the good times roll. And, for under $100, you can't go wrong.

Pros: Decent quality, good performance, easy menu, nice display, easy install, adapters included

Cons: Not high performance power, buttons a bit small but manageable.

This is the first "new" car stereo I have ever bought. I've had tons in tons of different cars, but they were all used. This whole experience was as good as it could be! Crutchfield is awesome! The radio looks better than I expected and everything I needed to install it came in the box! Well, except for some wire caps, but that's not a big deal. I opted for a cd-less stereo because I have a small car and cd's tend to take up a bit of space that I really don't have to give up. Not to mention all the music I listen to is on my phone anyway... The one complaint that I had about this stereo is the same one I have for all the other similar ones on here, at least at this price point, they lack sd card slots. a couple of the less reputable brands had one, but I wanted a known, trusted brand since I've had better experience with them. A coworker of mine mentioned that JVC is cheap, but I whole-heartedly disagree! Nothing about this radio feels or looks cheap. It felt more solid than I expected and nothing moves or rattles or flexes. It has a million features that I'll probably be figuring out for the rest of my life, ha, ha! Best of all, it sounds incredible! The control it gives you over your sound is very in depth. Overall, I really have no complaints about this at all, really. it's exactly what I wanted and more! Thanks!

Pros: looks sound tailoring options more than one pre-out built in customizable crossover blue lights go with the rest of my interior lights more power than I expected

Cons: no sd card slot too much power for the kenwood 6x9's in the back (not really a con for the radio, just my application)

The unit is OK quality. Maybe on par or better than a OEM unit. But the interface is far to complicated and the buttoms are to small to be of any use. What happened to the old days when you were able to adjust the balance, treble, and fade the speakers front to back without going 3 layers deep into a complicated user interface. The manuals seem to be of little help. These radio companies would do well to take a lesson from the Cell phone makers like Apple of android. They are inexpensive though compared to the old days of spending hundreds for such a full featured stereo.

I installed this in my 03 civic sedan. Installation was very simple and took no time with Crutchfield's awesome dash kit, wiring harness, and other installation tools they provide. I bought this because like others, all my music is on my phone now, and this had 4v preouts which isn't typical at this low price point. The bluetooth would not connect to my iPhone 6S. The tech advisor i called said there was an issue with iPhone and bluetooth with this unit. After searching on the internet I found a suggestion to turn off Siri, and that worked. I could use the unit but didn't want to give up siri functionality because i use it multiple times daily for setting reminders for myself. The unit has reset itself 3 times in the week I have had installed, back to factory options and I have had to reprogram it each time to my liking. I checked the wiring on it all and wiggled all my connections to the power and they were firm and the unit never powered off when i was fidgeting with them so I don't believe it to be my installation. Call quality from people I have asked about on the bluetooth said I sounded very echo-y or like was on speakerphone. I wish this unit had worked out for me, it looks very clean installed and I was sad to send this one back. Thank you Crutchfield for your amazing customer service and support.

Pros: bluetooth, usb, auxiliary, 4v pre-outs, good price point, sounded fantastic with the JVC Speakers I installed with it.

The installation instructions were awesome! There was one step I didn't need to follow relating to the adaptor plate to fit into my dash. It wanted me to cut off a tab, but that wasn't necessary in my case. It fits like a glove! I ended up needing to replace three of my four speakers, and they had included the instructions for that as well. The tech told me that according to the description of my sound problem, he could tell it was the head unit, but after replacing it, I still had the same problem, so I changed out the speakers , and everything worked as it should. I am pondering sending back the stereo because I spent $180 on the unit, and the installation kits, and didn't need to because the speakers were the problem. But, I really like the options this stereo has that my stock one did not, so I haven't decided yet. I really do like this unit, but am having a little trouble with Bluetooth talking to my Android phone, other wise, the Ease of Use category would have been higher. The only issue I am having is accessing my "Phonebook" from the stereo. It worked once, but I can't seem to get it to find it again.

I am the 2nd and 4th owner of a 2005 Saab 9-2x (long story) commonly called a "Saabaru" since it was built for Saab by Subaru. The original owner replaced the factory Clarion AM/FM/CD player with a JVC KD-HDR50 with AM/FM/CD AND iPod/iPhone Head End control (oh, and Hi-Def radio). Bluetooth was an optional component and he didn't install it. While I had an iPhone 3GS and 4S, life was good. When I entered the realm of the iPhone 5c then the current 6S, the iPhone functionality was rendered useless. At first it didn't bum out that much. But when I upgraded to an iPhone 6S with 64GB of storage, I wanted it to work (I have currently 4,411 songs o the iPhone). Since it wouldn't I turned to Crutchfield to see what was available. Since the current JVC KD-HDR50 worked really well, I wanted another. I didn't care about a CD player since even if I buy a CD I immediately "rip" it and really don't use the CD again. So looking at the reviews I purchased the JVC KD-X330BTS. Have you seen the features on this puppy? An astonishing amount. Within 45 minutes I had the old unit out, the new JVC in and was "iPhoning" and "Bluetoothing" away. The FM radio is a tad weak but not too bad. Price/performer and "bang for the buck" come to mind.

Pros: - Features - iPhone head end control

Cons: - Too many features (basically getting to the features).

It detects my phone's Bluetooth signal without issue. So far I have been extremely pleased with this unit, especially considering how cheap the price is for it.

    Pros:

    Cons:

Light, easy to install, east to sync, easy to everything.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this because my last aftermarket radio is nearly 9 years old and needed a replacement. I liked this unit's ipod touch playback ability (says 3rd to 5th gen Touches are supported) , its Bluetooth sync ability is great, helps keep my eyes on the road, and compatible with some SiriusXM tuners, giving your car the ability to play Satellite radio. While I could get an Amp for this, I didn't see the need since my truck is a single-cab '97 Ranger and no 'woofer. I installed the mic through the installation bracket kit that Crutchfield gave me by drilling a hole in the back of the cubby-slot and bundling the wire together and taping it to the back of the cubby. Great radio, love it.

Pros: Easy, light, bluetooth, ipod playback

Cons: Doesn't come with a SiriusXM tuner

    Love it!

Finally decided to replace the stock unit in my Jeep. I couldn't be happier. Install was a breeze with the furnished wiring harness and dash kit. It looks and sounds great. I was happily surprised to find out it has a detachable front which is great for a soft top Jeep. Also nice to be able to talk hands free on the phone. Thanks

This is a great little unit! Easy to set up with the harness adapter Crutchfield sent for free plus the instructions! Sound quality is great with good customization settings. I love how it adjusts the subwoofer level with the volume knob, so everything stays balanced no matter how loud or soft. Bluetooth feature is a little buggy, but for the price, I can live with it. I have a car with a factory unit with Bluetooth and it does the same thing sometimes.

Pros: Easy operation, sound quality, charging via USB

Cons: As far as I see, it only comes with blue lights. Wish it had red, but I may be just overlooking it.

I bought this unit to install in my twin sons 1st car. I was looking for something inexpensive yet with features to aide in safety while driving. Hands free calling and streaming were on the top of my list. I have paired my Samsung Galaxy s6 active and 1 of my sons have paired his Iphone 6s.

This is a solid radio with no cd player. Blue tooth, aux and usb inputs work flawless so far. Remote control is a little flaky at times, but functional with patience. The buttons on the radio and remote are pretty small though

Pros: Solid radio with good value

    Cons: Small buttons

    Great for the price

For an investment at this price, you can't beat this head unit. The Bluetooth works well (which is what i bought it for), and calls seem to go through fairly clearly (7-8/10) so I can't really say much negative about this deck other than the 'source' button seems sort of cheap and sticks slightly depending on the angle your finger hits it. But other than that small complaint, this is a very good unit.*Also got a set of JVC speakers at 1/2 price w/ purchase!*

Pros: value for the money, audio is clear, decent Bluetooth calls, 1/2 price speakers w/ purchase

Cons: Buttons are small-ish and stick a little bit sometimes.

Very glad I spent the money to upgrade from factory. Install was a breeze in my blazer and as for the fitment, it looks like it came standard in my vehicle. It definitely sounds better than what I had before. Also I got a set of jvc speakers 50% off for buying this unit. Heck yeah.

    Pros: Full
