If you get your music from a device instead of a disc, you need a receiver that's made for the way you play your tunes. JVC's KD-X340BTS digital media receiver features built-in Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, and an aux input, plus you can use a compatible phone to control whatever the receiver's doing. You can even add a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner (sold separately) and expand your entertainment horizons even more.
Android® users can control Pandora® right from the stereo through the Bluetooth connection — no wires needed. JVC's remote control app lets you use your compatible Android phone's touchscreen to control the action using finger swipes and gestures. With your Android phone safely attached to a mount, you can reach down and skip a track without taking your eyes off the road. You can also control your Pandora and iHeartRadio stations usng your phone or the receiver itself.
If you're an iPhone® user, this receiver gives you more than wireless control — you get voice control, too. Talk to Siri® Eyes Free technology to make calls, choose music, get directions, and more. Anything you can do with Siri can be done with this receiver.
If you're a satellite radio fan, you can connect a SiriusXM® tuner (sold separately) and start enjoying the wide variety of music, sports, news, and entertainment available. If you haven't experienced satellite radio, you'll be blown away by the incredible selection of music and more that comes with your subscription. Plus, you can drive all the way across the USA without losing your favorite channels.
The KD-X340BTS plays MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, and even FLAC files, so you'll be able to enjoy all your tunes when you travel. You'll find a wide array of sound-shaping tools, including Sound Response to boost frequencies in digital files, Space Enhancement to match the sound to the size of your car, and a 13-band graphic equalizer. The 24-bit DAC brings the best out of your tunes, and the Volume Link EQ boosts specific frequencies in the audio signal to compensate for road noise.
Bluetooth® made easy
Automatic pairing makes it a lot easier to enjoy hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming, no matter what kind of phone you're using.
The KD-X340BTS gives you three sets of preamp outputs, which really comes in handy when you add amplifiers and a sub to your car audio system. Even if you're not planning to do that right away, it's always smart to invest in a receiver you can grow with. You can also pair two phones at once, so you don't have to choose between the personal phone and the work phone when you're driving.
With your smartphone connected to the KD-X340BTS, you can listen to your phone's internal memory as one source and access its microSD card as another. You'll also appreciate the USB port's powerful 1.5-amp charging capability.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.
Sweet radio! A lot of functions. Gets a bit messy but if you chill in the vehicle a bit and play with it, it cleans up nicely.

Front-Panel Auxiliary Input: A front-panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of almost any portable audio source with a 3.5mm headphone output. 24 Bit D/A Converter: The JVC KD-X340BTS utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.
MOSFET Amplifier: The JVC KD-X340BTS is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power output specs for the KD-X340BTS are as follows:
Amp Gain: When you are using the KD-X340BTS with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 25 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 35.
4V/6CH Preamp Outputs + Sub Control: The KD-X340BTS is equipped with three pair of 4V preamp outputs (Front, Rear, & Sub). The Front & Rear preamp outputs offer fade control, while the Sub outputs are non-fading. The Sub preamp outputs also offer independent level control (-50 to +10).
Subwoofer Speaker Connection: You can connect a subwoofer to this head unit without the need of a separate power amplifier. Simply connect a single subwoofer (4-8 ohm) directly to head unit's left rear speaker leads (the right rear speaker output will be muted). The rated power output for the subwoofer speaker channel remains 22 watts. Same subwoofer controls apply, except the, subwoofer level adjustment is from -6 to+3.
Vehicle Setup: In order to optimize the sound quality in your vehicle, you can indentify the type of vehicle you have and the rear speaker location, as well as configure listening distances.
Crossover Network: The JVC KD-X340BTS lets you choose between a 2-way or 3-way crossover network for your car audio application.
Equalizer: The JVC KD-X340BTS is equipped with 8 EQ presets, an Easy EQ (3-band), a Pro EQ (13-band), and a Vol Link EQ. Choose the one that best fits your type of music listening.
K2 Technology: K2 is a JVC original technology that reproduces the original master sound by expanding the bit rate and frequency range. K2 is compatible with all sources including CD. For example, K2 will expand the digital data of the audio CD recorded at 44.1kHz/16 bit to 48 kHz/24 bit, and recreate the high-frequency range above 20kHz that is cut during the CD formatting.
Sound Effects: The KD-X340BTS offers adjustable Sound Effects to provide a better listening experience inside your vehicle.
Loudness, Bass Boost & Bass Extension: The Loudness feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. The unit's Bass Boost enhances low bass frequencies at any volume level. There is also a Bass Extension feature which further enhances the unit's bass output.
Volume Adjust: The input level of each source (other than FM) is adjustable relative to the FM radio volume, so there isn't a significant volume difference when changing sources. Each source is individually adjustable from -15 to +6.
Key Beep: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.
Remote App (for iOS & Android): The JVC Remote App is an application for Apple iOS 8.0+ and Android OS 4.4+ that controls the JVC receiver like a wireless remote control from your compatible Apple iOS device (via Bluetooth or USB) or Android device (via Bluetooth only). The JVC Remote App provides traditional touchscreen control, as well as directional and freeform gesture control.
- You will need to indicate within the head unit's menu what type of device (Apple iOS or Android) you'll be using the JVC Remote App on before the application will connect and function with the receiver.
- When using the JVC Remote App with your compatible Apple iOS device, the application and device must be connected to the receiver via Bluetooth (not USB) for playback of Bluetooth audio. For playback of a USB-direct connection from an Apple iOS device, the device and application must be connected to the head unit via USB (not Bluetooth).
Steering Wheel Control Input: The head unit features a steering wheel remote control input wire (blue/yellow) within the included wiring harness that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately).
Optional Wireless Remote: The KD-X340BTS can be controlled wirelessly from JVC's RM-RK52 IR remote control (sold separately; not available at Crutchfield).

2-Line LCD: The 2-line display provides more information for audio settings, song/artist/album info, and station identification. You can select between English or Spanish text.
Variable Color Illumination: The JVC KD-X340BTS features variable color display and button illumination. You can choose from one of 49 preset colors, have the unit scan through all 49 preset colors continuously, or customize your own color (RGB; 0-9). The custom setting allows you to individually adjust the intensity of Red, Green, and Blue (from 0-9) to better match your vehicle's interior lights. The same color setting can be applied to both the display and buttons, or you can choose a different color for Zone 1 and Zone 2 (see owner's manual illustration).
Brightness: The unit offers a daytime and nighttime brightness settings for the LCD and button illumination. You can adjust the brightness level of each manually from 0-31.
Dimmer: The unit's dimmer control can be set automatically, manually, or via timer. Manually select "Off" for daytime brightness setting or "On" for nighttime brightness setting. Choose "Auto" which switches between day and nighttime brightness setting automatically when you turn off/on the headlights (orange/white wire of harness must be connected to headlamp circuit). You can even set a specific time for the "Off" and "On" dimmer setting to be activated.
Day & Time: The unit displays a 12-or 24-hour clock, as well as the day (Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat). The day & time can be selected to remain on, even if the head unit is switched off (as long as the vehicle's key is in the accessory or start position).
