Sounds, look good. Maybe a little "space" for my taste but love the quality and sound. I use with a Kenwood KAC-7005PS and sounds very nice. take in account that is not a "Bass" speaker but nice meds and hights

Pros: - Sound - Size factor - Deep - Price

Cons: Nothing for now

Great Replacement Speakers for RV

Chris from Jarrettsville, MD on 7/14/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First a blurb on Crutchfield - it's really nice to be able to talk with a knowledgeable human being when trying to identify the best option for a given application. Paul couldn't have been more helpful, and as a result, there were no surprises with this purchase or subsequent installation....except that the speakers were delivered only 20 hours from completion of the order! As for the speakers, they are everything one might expect from Polk Audio speakers of this size and they put the original speakers that came with the RV to shame in every way. They handle more power than the stock Jensen receiver can put out, have a much wider response range than the old speakers, and sound fantastic regardless of volume (i.e. no distortion). It rained less than 8 hours after installation, and these marine speakers installed outside of the RV sounded just as good wet as they sounded when dry. There were some minor challenges in the actual installation, but none a result of any issues with the speakers. While the 4 speaker mounting holes allow for some leeway to line-up with existing mounting holes, the mounting screws on the separate grille just fit those holes so there is no flexibility there. I was able to hit at least 2 existing holes, and everything fit nicely into place. I caulked the outer plastic ring on the back of the speakers to keep water out of the mounting ring. Properly installed, the speakers are now securely mounted on the RV and should provide years of enjoyment.

Pros: Speakers are well made, attractive, competitively priced, easy to install, and sound great. Paul at Crutchfield was extremely helpful in identifying options that would work for my application. Speakers were delivered 20 hours from completion of the purchase!

Cons: Required some customization to fit existing mounting rings, but not a problem.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are perfect fit for any late model FLH Harley Davidson touring motorcycle! My bike is a 2004 FLHTCUI, they fit in the front fairing speaker location perfect without any modifications period. And the very best part, they fit into the shallow rear speaker boxes on the tour pack. That allows you to use the original speaker cover and mounting screws. I did have to modify the speaker mounting tabs with a metal file. The mounting tab on the speakers are square, they will need to be rounded off with the metal file so it will fit inside the round speaker box lip. After that your jamming! I also shouldn't leave out, that these speakers are a bargain for the price. All other speakers that proclaim to fit in a Harley Davidson are $200.00 bucks a pair and you will have to alter the bike in some way to make them fit. I did a little home work, and saved money and time! Thanks Crutchfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: They fit in my 2004 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI with very minimal modifications.

Cons: There are none in my opinion!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A definite improvement over the stock 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon speakers. Allows better sound at a much higher volume. My only complaint is that I wish it had a little better tweeters. I really like crisp & tinny highs; however, it is close to where I like it. It would of been perfect it came with the sticky rope caulk to help the installation and sealing like the OEM speaker did.

Pros: Super easy upgrade, sounds much better at hi-way speeds at higher volume

Cons:

Sounds good in 07 tacoma

Thomas from Barstow, CA on 3/26/2017

2015 Honda Accord
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great mids and highs for a 5 1/4 speaker. However I wish the speaker would of fit the speaker brackets a bit better in my rear doors on my 07 tacoma access cab. It would of been nice to be able to stuff a bigger speaker in that location such as a 6 1/2 or even a little bigger. Since back space was not an issue just the hight of the top of the speaker an touching the door panels.

Pros: Straight forward install with included wire harnesses and speaker brackets. So easy that my 21 yr old son could do when I told him to put his phone down and try. But then again I been installing system since I was 15 now I'm 44 so I seen a lot of progress over the yrs.

Cons: Very very slight gap along the outside edge of speaker and brackets. Once you align it the best you can an use some weather strip underneath speaker it will help to isolate the front and rear sound waves for better sound. Would of been nice if the form was included in the install gear. But a quick trip to home depot fixed that.

Good, not great

Eric from College Station, TX on 2/17/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these after trying a set of kenwood 1365. These are going into a 2005 Civic EX sedan with the stock head unit which puts out 30 watts x 4 channels (Honda doesn't say if that is RMS or peak). I tried them in both the rear deck and the front door locations listening to R&B, progressive rock, and fusion drumming. The PolkDB522 produced good clarity in vocals and most instruments. Listening to the bass line however was a little troublesome. Bass drum notes could be heard well, though. While listening to these I just have a sense that something is missing. It's not quite a full bodied sound. Also the volume was less than the stock speakers. Trying the Polk DB's that are 6 1/2" next. If you are paring these with a quality musical sealed subwoofer, these might do well for you.

Pros: Easy fit, clear vocals and higher instruments, low distortion.

Cons: Bass response is barely OK. Does not pressurize the cabin.

This review is specific to the fit in my vehicle. The 5 stars were just to maintain the rating average since the fit isn't a defect in the speaker. I have 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 regular cab. These speakers are slightly smaller than the factory speakers and require new holes in the vehicle. The oem speaker uses 3 screws, and these use 4. Just FYI for posterity's sake.

Pros: -Sound fine

Cons: -requires new holes to be drilled in 2007 Dodge Ram

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

the Crutchfield "fit to your vehicle" system works. took all the factory JBL sound system concerns on my tundra i had out of the equation. the free inclusion of the adapter and connectors adding in selling me to using this from now on. i plan to order matching rear speakers as soon as my budget allows.

Pros: included adapters made for an easy swap for my special factory restricted replacement. i couldn't purchase locally because the retailer didn't know if/how the front door speakers would work or fit. it's the JBL amp system in toyotas i had concern if compatible.

Cons: none of note

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've got to say, I am very pleasantly surprised! I don't usually write reviews, but I like these little speakers so much that I decided to take the time. I hooked these up to my '05 Jeep Wrangler in the roll bar and dash locations, and running off of my Alpine deck (18W) they sound REALLY good. I replaced Polk 4x6s and Rockford 5 1/4s which I thought sounded pretty decent, and these were a nice upgrade. I can't wait to get the Alpine 45W power pack connected up to see how they sound with some more power pushed to them. But right out of the gate, great highs and mids, and surprisingly nice "low end" for small speakers. I do have a sub in the armrest and would recommend a sub if you can, and/or require some heavy bass in your tunes. But if not, these speakers will jam just fine and get you by. I was on the fence between spending 2-3 times more on some Focals, but decided to go with the Polks because of all the great reviews...glad I did.

Pros: Warm, clear, and surprisingly nice low-ish end for a 5.25 speaker running off of an Alpine deck.

Cons: None that I can think of so far, especially for 5.25s and at this price point.

I am using these for temporary front fill in my BMW 740iL. They fit perfectly, and the install was dead easy. Highs are crisp, but not shrill, and the midrange is good. Being smaller 5.25" speakers, the bottom end isn't all that great, but the system has a good sub in the trunk for that. Even driven full range & wide open by a Kenwood 45w RMS x 4 amp, they get loud and stay clean. For the money, hard to beat. They will eventually move to the rear doors and be replaced by compnents, but if you need a good pair of reasonably priced 5.25" coaxials, these are it...period.

Pros: Great fit Smooth sound Good pricing

Cons: Included grilles...not pretty

Installed in front corners and on sound bar. The Jeep has a JVC head unit that was installed before I bought it. Replaced DB521s on sound bar, and kicker DS460s(4x6) in the front. When I ordered the speakers they came with everything I needed for install for free. The sound is incredible for a 5.25, I think that the 100w RMS really helps out. It was a huge improvement over the speakers I replaced.

Pros: Good sound Quality at high volume, Reasonable price.

Cons: The plastic grills that come with the speakers don't fit on the sound bar.

These speakers are awesome. did quite bit of research on them before purchasing. Currently running a Kenwood DPX302BT. After the relatively easy installation, and tweaking the head unit these speakers came to life. I am now able to hear background sources and vocals I didn't even know were present. I highly recommend these speakers for the front or rear or both. This was a factory upgrade. I don't have the speakers on an amp because its not needed. If you are looking for that (Boom) these speakers alone will not do it however that is not their intent. These speaker are made to reproduce highs and mids and they do it flawlessly. With no amp I can turn the head unit up to about 33 before they start to distort. I also recommend the wiring and door adapters to make sure everything fits. Would definitely purchase these again in a heart beat.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in the rear deck of a 2002 Honda Civic. The installation of both of these took about 2 hours but it was totally worth it! This was an upgrade from the factory speakers and the sound quality is now great. Good bass, and even better mids and highs. I Would definately recommend these to a friend!

Pros: Huge upgrade from factory speakers Pretty easy to install Fit in easily Crutchfield instructions helped a ton

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Arrived on time - installation was very easy; simple change out with the factory speakers on my 2002 Jeep Wrangler roll bar. Sound (voice and music) is much better, even with the road noise of a Jeep soft top. Great with my new Alpine receiver. Well worth the price.

Pros: Really like them.

Cons: Plastic covers could be a little more substantial, ruggedized.

2013 Victory Cross Country Tour
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are very good upgrade speakers that fit in the factory locations on the Victory Cross Country Tour. They are shallow so no cutting in the trunk location. I did use a self adhesive 1/4 " weather strip on the back of the speaker just to add a little space. The sound is better than stock but needs an amp to really make a difference. I will be ordering an amp soon.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers sound great. I recently installed a new alpine receiver and it made the the old factory speakers sound a lot better. Almost didn't buy new speakers, but I'm glad I did. These new Polk speaker are way louder, crisper, and brighter than the original. They have been rained on several times and no change in performance. I would recommend these to a friend.

Pros: Easy install. An extra hand would be useful, due to the over head location. Awesome sound. Shipped really quick.

Cons: Replacement covers look cool but do not offer much protection to the cones. I have kids, so I opted to reuse the OEM covers to keep little fingers off of my new speakers. Holes lined up perfectly.

1979 Jeep CJ7
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace the 37 year old factory speakers of my 1979 Jeep CJ7. They are absolutely fantastic. I only drive my Jeep without a top. Even with no top, these speakers can handle the loudness I need to overcome the road noise and open air situation. They are clear, crisp and they were very easy to put in. I would recommend these speakers to any one!

Pros: price, sound quality.

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the Polk Audio DB522's for my 2004 Ford Mustang, after changing the head unit. It sounded awful! The Mach system was replaced by a 1000 watt amp, the JVC head unit and the DB522's and my other Polk Audio speakers! Total rewire of "the system " I am so impressed with these speakers!!!! The sound is so much better! Crisp highs, the mids are great as well! I can't believe that there would be that much of a change, Crutchfield, you have blown me away! My Bazooka 10" sub will be here tomorrow! Can't wait to add that extra bass!

Features

Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

Marine Certification: Polk speakers are marine certified, making them a good choice for boats in fresh water, convertibles, motorcycles, ATVs, and other applications where the speaker might get wet. Because they have coated steel baskets and the terminals and crossover components are not covered, we do not recommend using them in salt water environments.

Our Product Research Team

At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere. That's because we have our own in-house Product Research team. They verify what’s in the box, check the owner's manual, and record dimensions, features and specs. We stay on top of new products and technologies to help people make informed choices.
