From Polk: Learn More About the Polk Omni SB1 Plus Premium Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer
The Omni SB1 Plus sound bar and wireless subwoofer deliver clear dialogue, and realistic, enveloping sound effects from your movies and TV shows. But the high-performance Omni SB1 Plus isn't just made for TV and movies — it's designed for music, too. And it's not just made for sound in one room — it's a gateway to the Polk Omni wireless multi-room music system.
The low-profile sound bar fits easily underneath your TV.
Start the evening by watching the big game on your TV, with clear, powerful sound provided by the Omni SB1 Plus. This system will even let you experience wireless 5.1 surround sound by adding additional Polk Omni speakers for your rear channels (spring 2016 firmware update required). After the game, stream your victory part mix on the SB1 Plus, along with the Polk Omni S2 speaker in your kitchen and the Omni P1 adapter connected to the stereo system in your den.
The Omni SB1 Plus gives you lots of ways to listen to music. The system comes with a Bluetooth adapter, so you can simply stream from your smartphone, tablet, or computer. And if your Omni SB1 Plus is part of a multi-room system, it can re-stream that music to other system speakers throughout your home.
The free Polk Omni app for Apple® and Android™ lets you do even more with your Omni SB1 Plus and the Omni system. It makes your smartphone or tablet a remote control for the system, and lets you stream music from networked computers and music servers.
The Omni SB1 Plus has Spotify Connect, so if you're a Spotify® Premium subscriber, you can access all your favorite albums and playlists. There's built-in support for Pandora® Internet radio and SiriusXM. You also have access to over 37,000 free Internet radio streams, for a virtually endless supply of music and other programming.
The Omni SB1 Plus uses Play-Fi wireless music technology. Developed by audio innovator DTS, Play-Fi allows you to send the same song to multiple speakers, play a different song in every room, or let each member of the family control speakers independently with their own device. Play-Fi can transmit lossless audio at CD quality to up to 16 speakers or components on your network.
And when it comes to gear, you have choices. The Polk Omni SB1 Plus can work with other Play-Fi speakers from other manufacturers. So you can mix and match different brands of wireless speakers, giving you much more flexibility than closed systems.
The Omni SB1 Plus sound bar features three built-in speakers that produce smooth, detailed sound. Specially designed rectangular drivers deliver big sound in a narrow space, keeping the sound bar thin enough to easily fit in front of your TV. The subwoofer offers lots of tight bass, for hard-hitting movie sound effects and deep, full bass from your music.
The system also comes with VoiceAdjust™ technology, which enhances dialogue clarity. It even allows you to tailor the volume of voices.
Omni S2 - Compact size, great sound, easy wireless music listening with your smartphone or tablet.
Omni S2 Rechargeable- A rechargeable battery and a weather-resistant design allow outdoor use with this compact speaker.
Omni P1 - Add the Omni wireless system to your existing stereo.
Omni A1 - Connect a pair of speakers to this amplified wireless player.

Pros: Everything was great.
I bought this sound bar along with two Omni S6 wireless speakers so I could have surround sound. The units are supposed to connect with each other via your WiFi network. Polk provides an app that you install on your smart phone to manage the sync process. The process is far from trivial. After trying for 2 hours on my own, I called Polk support and spent 2 hours more with the technician. Still no luck. The next step is he is sending me an email so I can manually install new firmware. I did not know I was getting a side job along with my sound system. Why don't they flash - update firmware before shipping? Why do they place this burden on the consumer? I am pretty competent technologically having installed lots of home technology over the years. This is absurd. The build and quality of the components seems like 5 star, but who cares if you can't use it?
Finally I can hear the dialogue!
Pros: I love the center speaker for voice adjustment - no more garbled conversations.
Great product for the price. Serves the dual purpose for Watching TV and listening to music.
Pros: Play-Fi multi room sound comparable / Affordable Price
Cons: Probably not the absolute best sound quality but more than adequate.
I wish I would have listened before purchasing sound is not as good as other less expensive Polk products
Pros: Great name brand
Cons: Sound depth not as advertised
Very sleek and powerful soundbar. Used it for 2 weeks. Bass is really good and does shake the living room as expected. Voice Adjust is very good feature and very helpful. music is not very crisp as you would expect, little flat.
Pros: Great Bass Voice Adjust Omni/Additional speakers
Cons: Expensive in relation to sound quality
I bought this for a Sony Bravia that sits in an open floor plan with high ceilings that reach to a loft above. The acoustics in the roomier not all that great and I missed having a 5.1 surround sound system. Running 5.1 wires throughout the room or below would have been intrusive given the configuration of the basement below, heating ducts, etc. So this seemed like a good compromise. It does in fact deliver on improving the sound in our room. That's said, it's not a 5.1 system and those thinking that this sound bar will replace a 5.1 system will be disappointed. Movie sound quality is good. Using this as a streaming player for stereo music from an iPad through bluetooth is really great as long as the iPad is close enough. We found that if we moved the iPad Pro further than 13" away we would encounter drop outs.. Running music through the bar from the Wifi was problematic and has plenty of drop outs, pops and dropped connections.. (The router it was connected to was a Linksys WRT1900AC about 20 feet away in open air) We never did figure out what the failure was there. Setup was simple and worked immediately. Instruction manual was written for easy setup but fails to have a more complicated section for more advanced features.. For example if you want to have the volume control on your TV controller control the SB+ you need to find the youtube video put out there by a company executive. The remote control for the SB+ is a thin metal control that feels down right cheap.
Pros: Easy Setup, Music Quality Great, Movie Quality almost as good. Bluetooth connection works great.
Cons: Wifi connection does not work well, Below average user manual, Cheap controller that is easily misplaced and doesn't always register button pushes unless really centered on pointing at the sound bar.
Great product, comes with everything you need to set it up which i great. Movies sound amazing, streaming has good sound but seems a bit lower quality but still a good sound. Would recommend this product.
Pros: Great 5.1 Sound for Movies, Good sound for streaming but lacks a little bass when doing so. But all around it has great quality sound
Cons: App can be a little tricky and doesnt offer a EQ setting on the app.
When I initially played this system I was excited about the theater sound it delivered;however, when I played music it was a different story. I wasnt expecting the soundbar to excel in this area but I didnt expect it to sound as if it was a 50 dollar soundbar either. The level of distortion was horrendous. I called Crutchfield tech and he told me distortion was normal when a soundbar is played at 75 percent and above. He was wrong because when I tried to play music at a 20 percent volume level, I still heard distortion. This purchase was a disappointment. The only good outcome of it was that the Crutchfield customer service took care of me and the situation. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros: Good theater sound
Cons: Soundbar sounds horrible
I end up buying the Polk Audio Omni SB1 Plus after carefully reviewing several wifi speakers and systems, such as Denon Heos, Yamaha MusicCast, Bose SoundTouch. The main reason I ended up with this beauty, was the knowledge on Polk speakers quality, the Play-Fi multi-room capability, and price. Play-Fi not only allows up to 16 speakers in the same wireless network to interconnect, but you can pair with other Play-Fi compatible brands (Read the Pros section for more details). This give you versatility, when compared with brands such as Sony, Bose, Yamaha, among others, which need to be paired with the same brand. Hints: -WIFI connection, I suggest using the WPS (Wifi Protected Setup). This option is widely supported in routers from more than 10 years, and will make your life easier during the initial setup. -Wireless pairing the sound bar with the subwoofer was a little tricky. To solve this problem, just place both devices like kissing each other, and voila it worked!
Pros: -Excellent overall sound -Great bass thanks to the wireless subwoofer -Sleek and nice looking sound bar. -Play-Fi provides the ability to connect with other compatible speakers from great brands like: Klipsch, Onkyo, Pioneer, MartinLogan, among others. Check this link: https://play-fi.com/products/
Cons: Not much. Polk Play-Fi is not compatible with SoundCloud, TuneIn Radio, and YouTube. Hope a Polk app update fill that gap.
I really like it. Sound is very very good, well worth the price I paid for a scratch and dent. Mid range is a little lacking, but such a HUGE improvement in sound I really don't care. Voices are more clear, even at low volume, which has been more important to me than I thought. Music via Bluetooth sounds great too. Remote is not great, but functional. I did call for help with setup, recommend that for everyone.
I love it, the sound and quality is great
It took some extra effort to get set up, the sound bar had trouble doing anything at all after first connecting to the wifi. I was able to get customer support from Polk on a Sunday morning which is nice and while it did seem like something unusual for them, he hung in there and after multiple tries for almost two hours it finally worked and does sound good with no additional issues. I think this was a fluke thing. The other Omni speakers had no trouble hooking up. It sounds good with my TV system. While I haven't tried everything yet, the Polk tech did recommend streaming music with Spotify instead of Pandora on the Omni system. I was not terribly familiar with either. I got that all set up only to find that it won't work streaming through the Polk Omni app without purchasing a subscription to Premium Spotify which I felt was misleading and is the reason for only four stars. I don't do this often enough to warrant a subscription. The transition from wifi to bluetooth and back is also a little cumbersome. Otherwise it works as I expected and was a good solution to my situation as per Crutchfield support recommendations. I've only had it hooked up for two weeks so I cannot comment on longevity, but other Polk speakers I have owned have been good. If you buy the Omni series you need both the Polk Omni app and the Utility app to configure and download software updates which took about 15 minutes per speaker.
So glad I decided to go with the sb1 because it is expandable great home theater experiencei
Pros: Awesome Theatre Experience
Cons: Man that I've found so far
Great Sound. Easy Install. Cheesy remote. After a little research I figured out how to make work with TV remote.
It sound good but i expected more for the price
Very satisfied with my Polk Omni SB1 sound bar. Clear crisp sounds , plenty of bass and the voices while watching a movie are crystal clear. Kudos to Crutchfield for their customer service and support.
Pros: Excellent sound bar. The separate volume control for voices works great. Also considered the Klipsch but decided to go with this one because of my satisfaction with other Polk audio products I've owned.
Cons: Remote is slightly smaller than I'd like and doesn't light up.
This is the first sound bar I've purchased. I didn't realize what I was missing! the sound quality is excellent, love the added base from the sub, and the voice enhancement is the feature I'm most impressed with. We use this in our living room, and it is more than sufficient for our needs.
Pros: Easy set up. Quality sound.
Cons: Very poor user manual. doesn't communicate with TV remote.
Definitely help to make conversation easier to hear in tv shows and movies. Incorporated into audio system for music as well. The added bass from the sub was good.
This is my 2nd Polk Audio sound bar system and the SB1 PLUS exceeds my expectation and is exactly what I was looking for. What I love the most is the "Voice" clarity feature that you can enhance. The wireless sub woofer delivers excellent punch in your room for a real IMax experience. I have nothing but good stuff to say about the SB1. Thank you for another excellent product. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Pros: Very simple set up and love the "Voice" enhancement amplifier feature.
Very happy so far, the SB1 plus was what I expected. The sound for a unit in this price range is great and the center voice control is a great addition. Will withhold the fifth star until I order the wireless sb2 speakers to complete the surround sound. As for Crutchfield it has been many years since I have ordered from this company and it's clear they have maintained their commitment of excellent customer service.
Great addition to my growing Polk Omni setup. Quick shipping from Crutchfield. Fairly straightforward setup. The PDF manual online at Polk is better than the one in the box. The remote programming instructions are a bit unclear. Just press Source button 5 secs to start remote learning mode, do all of your programming with the two remotes in hand, and then press Source for 5 secs when you are done to save all. You can do it again to add more. Like all new tech, it takes some time to integrate it into your setup. I don't have the rear channels set up for 5.1 sound yet, but 3.1 sounded great streaming Stranger Things on Netflix via a Fire TV Box with optical audio cable. I'm also using the Airplay/DLNA Receiver Pro app on the Fire TV to be able to play real deal Spotify (not "connect") and Apple Music from iphone and use lockscreen/volume rocker controls for everything or control with Apple Watch via Now Playing. (Other Play-Fi devices have integrated airplay.) "Restreaming" from the line in is a very cool feature. Would be really nice to be able to save that setup as a group; because it appears you have to rebuild it from scratch every time you change to another source/input. Didn't try the bluetooth yet, but restreaming via either input is a very cool feature. Got it at a good sale price, overall I'm very happy with the purchase. And I'm pretty picky.
Pros: Sounds great. Ability to "restream" inputs from the SB1 is super cool. Polk Tech Support and Customer Service in general is fantastic. If you have any problem, they will make it right. Compact form with superior sound and versatile wireless sub placement. It's kind of wizardry...
Cons: Would love to see integrated airplay support as some other Play-Fi manufacturers have included. Step by step setup instructions in the box would helpful for the uninitiated and improve reviews.
Had been looking at the product for some time now and it was this or the Klipsch sound bar, even went to a local big box retailer to listen to them, both sounded good but this one stood out a bit more, and it didn't help when the Klipsch was working and after this went on sale I had to buy it and in perfect time too! I will be closing on my new home in 30 days and was going to put this in the family room for the wife and the mother in law to listen to music, ordered this 2 days ago and it was shipped out right away, received it today and right away I hooked it up to hear what it sounds like, my wife was also home, so she was curious on the sound, connection was easy and seamless, once connected and the music came out we were like wow!! It even scared my 2 and 4 year old boys, also downloaded the app to turn the volume up and down (since the remote did not work) and connected to Pandora and it seems like the sound was even better. I am so happy with this product and I have no doubts about getting my media room speaker from Polk Audio. Even though the remote doesn't work I am still pleased, before I call the service I will try a new battery to see if that works, but if it doesn't, its ok with me. I have yet to turn the volume past half way due to that I'm still in my apartment, but at half was it was amazing! Can't wait to move in the new house and blast this baby, playing my old school R&B and some rap the clarity was great and the bass was clear and deep! Must thank my advisor.
Pros: The sound was great, easy to set up and look great!!
Cons: The remote did not work?
I had purchased a new Sony 4K-HDTV and the sound was so muffled I was at a loss. Spoke with C/S at Crutchfield several times because I couldn't make up my mind, full 7-1 or just a simple sound bar. I only needed for voice and the selling point was that I am able to set the front channel voice at a higher volume and use the either the Direct TV control or the Polk control to adjust the volume as I normally would with the center being at a higher default. The set up was so simple- a plug and play. Even the sub connected automatically. Good sound for TV which was my goal, cannot speak for true audiophiles on the music dept. I love simple hook up with reasonable response. I love even more that I called Crutchfield several times with no pressure, just honest advice, thanks Tim.
Pros: Very Simple, works with my DirectTV remote
Cons: None yet after a few weeks and none expected

Active Soundbar Speaker: The Polk Audio Omni SB1 Plus soundbar speaker houses three 3" x 1" full-range drivers powered by a built-in 150 watt amplifier. The soundbar's critically tuned ports provide optimum blending of the full-range drivers with the included wireless powered sub. The Omni SB1 Plus soundbar speaker employs two of Polk's proprietary technologies for exceptional performance.
Wireless Powered Sub: The wireless powered subwoofer features a down-firing 8" woofer and port in compact Bass Reflex enclosure. The 8" woofer is powered by a built-in 200 watt amplifier. The powered subwoofer receives it audio signal wirelessly (up to 50') from the system's soundbar, so there is no subwoofer cable to connect. If you prefer, a wired connection (3.5mm) can be used. You can adjust the volume of the sub independently from the system's overall volume.
Analog + Digital Connectivity: The Polk Audio Omni SB1 Plus soundbar & sub system provides both analog (3.5mm) and digital (optical) connectivity for a variety of source components.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Remote Control: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of the system. You can also program the soundbar speaker system to respond to your TV's IR remote. Many newer TVs are coming with RF remotes and don't offer IR functionality. In this case, you would not be able to program the soundbar and TV remote to work together.
Mounting Options: The soundbar speaker should be centered under or above your flat-panel TV screen. The lightweight easy-to-mount single speaker can be placed on a tabletop or wall-mounted. It can sit on a flat surface because of its integrated rubber feet that enable it to rest securely. If your TV is wall-mounted, the soundbar can be mounted right beneath it using the speaker's integrated keyhole slots (x2) on the rear-panel. The keyhole slots are spaced 32" apart. The powered subwoofer receives its signal from the soundbar wirelessly, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room (up to 50' from soundbar). It only requires plugging into an AC outlet.
Optional Wireless Rear Speakers: You can use a pair of the Polk Omni S2, S2R, or S6 wireless speakers (all sold separately) as rear surround speakers. Simply update the Omni SB1 Plus firmware using the Polk Audio Utility app (for iOS & Android), followed by a single update to the DTS Play-Fi software using this app. Once updated, setup is simple and can be completed in minutes. It is highly recommended that the wireless rear surround speakers be placed on the 5GHz band of a dual band AC router.
Omni Series: The Omni SB1 Plus soundbar speaker system is part of Polk Audio's Omni Collection, a series of wireless products that allow you to control what you want to listen to from your smartphone, tablet, or computer and stream it wirelessly to any room. You can start with one Omni series wireless product and then add more throughout your home or office.
DTS Play-Fi Wireless Technology: Polk Audio's Omni series collection of wireless speakers employ DTS Play-Fi wireless technology for wireless sound that is reliable and high-quality. DTS Play-Fi combines DTS audio and WiFi (802.11 g/n; 2.4/5.0GHz) wireless technology to wirelessly stream high-definition "lossless" audio with no impact on sound quality. DTS Play-Fi will stream pure, bit-for-bit, lossless audio, for uncompromised quality sound; up to 16-bit/48kHz. DTS Play-Fi has a range of up to 100' from your wireless router.
Note: All DTS Play-Fi enabled products work seamlessly together, so there's no hassle adding more speakers, or choosing more than one audio brand (like Definitive Technology, Phorus, Wren, etc..) in your home.
Simple Setup: There are two methods for connecting the DTS Play-Fi soundbar speaker system to your home network. You can perform WiFi setup via the Polk Omni App on your Apple iOS/Android mobile device or Windows PC (this setup allows you to connect multiple Play-Fi device at once to your network). You can also use the WPS button on the soundbar speaker if your wireless router supports WPS (this setup only allows you to connect one Play-Fi device at a time to your network).
Polk Omni App: Download the free Polk Omni App onto your Apple iOS (6.0+) device, Android (2.2+) smartphone/tablet, or Windows (7/8) PC for easy and convenient management of your music from your mobile device or computer. From the app you can initially set up the Omni soundbar speaker system, as well as add, link, and control all your Omni and DTS Play-Fi speakers. You'll be able stream music directly from the system's built-in music online services, or music on your mobile device or PC to multiple Omni series and DTS Play-Fi enabled speakers through out your home. The app lets you browse your music by artist, album, genre, or title; and provides album art. You can choose to play the same music in each zone or a different song in each room.
Variety Of Sources: Polk Audio's Omni series soundbar speaker system supports a variety of music sources.
Critical Listening Mode: For those who wish to hear high resolution audio as originally intended, Critical Listening mode will enable native rendering of high resolution files up to 24-bit/96kHz, with no down-sampling or network synchronization adjustment. In this way, audio files retain their original audio integrity. Critical Listening Mode is only available on one DTS Play-Fi speaker and not supported for multiroom audio distribution.
Maximum Number of Rooms/Zones Supported: You can play the same source in each zone or a different song in each room. Eight separate wireless source devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.), each with its own source, are supported simultaneously and any wireless source device can stream to eight DTS Play-Fi playback devices. Due to the bandwidth limitations of most wireless networks, no more than 16 wireless DTS Play-Fi products on a single WiFi network at one given time is recommended.
