Product Research

Features

Overview: This is a universal metal back strap that will support the back portion of an aftermarket receiver that is being installed in most vehicles, RV's, trucks, or boats. It has multiple mounting/support holes that attach to the rear support of the receiver. You can then bend the bracket as needed to attach it to any support screw found inside the cavity where the receiver is being installed.

Q
I am wondering if this will make a lot of rattling noise once installed?

A
These are fairly sturdy. If installed well, we shouldn't have any issue with rattling.

Q
Is this the same as the strapping material used in attics to support duct systems? I have a roll of that material. It is pretty thin.

A
No, it is a thicker material than duct strapping.

It's narrower than hanger strap and heavier gauge material. I believe the purpose is to support the back of the audio unit so it doesn't sag or bounce around. I bought one just in case I needed it but turned out that I didn't.

Maybe 9 to 10 inches.

6 -7 inch almost always cut them in installs

A
Pretty long. I used all mine, but I'm guessing they're around 7in. I had to cut all of mine when using them for installing tweeters.

Q
If the tweeter has empty space around it while using a backstrap, does that empty space need to be filled? also, should there be some sort of vibration dampening material between the tweeter and the backstrap and the backstrap to mounting screws?

A
Agree with above. Only lower frequency speakers (bass) really need the acoustic backing to push the sound forward because a good deal of the bass experience is the air movement. Tweeter frames don't rattle from the sound vibration (as there is extremely little) but will if they're not mounted snug.
christopher  Jun 06, 2017

depends if the speaker is a free air speaker or if it has requirements for enclosure space. most tweeters don't require a specific enclosure volume. also, the high frequencies produced by tweeters shouldn't shake much, if you hear or see rattling in you specific case simply put a rubber washer in between
michael  Jan 02, 2016
A
John M. The empty space doesn't need filling; however if you are driving on roads that are rougher than normal(off road) or driving a tractor trailer I would suggest using some rubber bushings between the washers and the strap, and the washers and the mounts for the tweeter. Hope this helps
