Our take on the Scosche HDSWC1

All motorcyclists know that it's safer to use convenient handlebar controls to adjust the radio instead of reaching over and fumbling with knobs and buttons. Scosche's HDSWC1 interface allows you to keep all the handlebar control functions of your Harley-Davidson when you add an aftermarket stereo.

Keep your controls at hand

All motorcyclists know that it's safer to use convenient handlebar controls to adjust the radio instead of reaching over and fumbling with knobs and buttons. Scosche's HDSWC1 interface allows you to keep all the handlebar control functions of your Harley-Davidson when you add an aftermarket stereo.

This interface comes with all the harnesses and plugs necessary for connection, but you may still have to splice a few wires for your installation. If your motorcycle has rear speakers, you'll have to wire them directly to your new radio. The HDSWC1 will work with compatible Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, and Panasonic receivers with either a 3.5 mm wired remote input or a steering wheel control input.

Product Highlights:

  • handlebar control retention interface
  • fits select 1998-13 Harley-Davidson motorcycles
    • 2006-13 FLHT (Electra Glide)
    • 1998-13 FLTR (Road Glide)
    • 2006-13 FLHX (Street Glide)
  • works with Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, and Panasonic receivers with 3.5 mm wired remote input or steering wheel control input
  • works with Scosche HD7000A mounting kit
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Installed to Kenwood receiver to push four 5 1/4" Polk Audio speakers on my wife's Electra Glide. Controls work flawlessly. Wow! Why did I spend the money I did on my system? This combination sounds better than my upgraded aftermarket system specifically designed for a Harley

Pros: Easy installation

Good way to replace stock Harley stereo

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to install in bike and hookup to new stereo. No AVC but does have a half volume function when used with the Sony MEX-N5100BT. Cheaper then biketronics but works. Would have rated 4 stars if small retention clip wasn't broke on delivery.

Pros: Easy to figure out and connect to new stereo wiring harness. Clicks right into stock Harley wiring harness.

Cons: On delivery found that a retention clip was broke. Didn't seem like it was going to matter much as when I put the two pieces together it made a solid connection that acted like it was going to stay put.

upgraded radio in my TriGlide

drgary from san antonio, TX on 2/19/2016

2013 Harley Davidson Ultra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I upgraded to a Bluetooth enabled unit without CD, (don't listen to them anymore). I thought I was upgrading from my old Retroradio handlebar control adapter, but the Scoche unit only connects to the front speakers. I'll have to try and discover how to control the rear speakers, too. Surely they know that motorcycles aren't limited to 2 speakers. Rather disappointing.

Pros: Easy plug and play installation.

Cons: Again, only controls the front speakers.

Crutchfield response on 2/22/2016 After our Customer Support group conferred with Darren, our vehicle integration expert, he is updating our database to alert Advisors if the rear speakers on various Harley Davidson models can be retained, as well the additional steps that are needed to do so. He also let our wiring harness makers that rear speaker solutions should be addressed.
