The PA8BX wiring kit from EFX will supply your car amplifier with the wiring necessary for receiving its signal and powering up. This wiring kit works with amplifiers with between about 250 to 450 watts RMS of total output power. Please check your amplifier's installation instructions to confirm the proper size wire to use. The kit includes a stereo RCA patch cable, remote turn-on lead, in-line fuseholder, fuse, and an assortment of connectors and hardware to help with your amp's installation.

This wiring kit does not include speaker wires. You will need to purchase those separately, in order to complete your amplifier installation. This kit includes patch cables for a 2-channel or mono amp — you'll need to add cables for multi-channel amps.

Features

Compatibility: The PA8BX kit is designed for amplifiers with fuse ratings up to 60 amps.

Kit Contents: This amp wiring kit includes the following:

  • Power/Ground/Remote wire: The power/ground wires use OFC (oxygen-free copper) for high-current delivery. The wires use fine strands of copper and soft-touch insulation for maximum flexibility.
    • 17' length 8 AWG blue power wire with in-line Mini-ANL fuse holder (no fuse installed) and a ring terminal (0.412" inside diameter, 0.601" outside diameter)
      • Note: The fuse holder does not include the 3mm Allen wrench required to install the fuse.
    • 2' length 8 AWG black ground wire with patent-pending Ultimate Ground Terminal for reliable ground connections.
    • 17' length of 18 AWG blue turn-on lead
  • Fuse: One 60A Mini-ANL fuse
  • RCA Patch Cable: 17' Core-twisted stereo RCA interconnect cable with split-top center pin and segmented shield for maximum contact and connection reliability. Twisted pair construction gives you maximum noise rejection and better sound quality. The RCA plugs have a micro barrel design and integrated strain relief.
  • Connectors: The kit includes the following crimp-on terminals:
    • Two 8-gauge crimp-on spade connectors (with 1 red and 1 black rubber insulator boot)
    • One 18-gauge crimp-on spade connector with red plastic boot (for remote turn-on lead)
    • One 18-gauge crimp-on butt connector (for remote turn-on lead)
  • Mounting Accessories:
    • 6' length of 3/8" diameter split loom to protect cables
    • 2 Phillips-head self-tapping screws (for securing the fuse holder)
    • 2 Phillips-head self-tapping screws (for securing the Ultimate Ground Terminal)
    • Plastic firewall grommet (0.35" inside diameter, 0.422" outside diameter)
    • Six 8" plastic wire ties

Q
How dose the blue wire hook up to back of factory deck?
chris  Apr 04, 2017
1 answer
A
This will depend largely on your vehicle. For details on installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on what you will need for an installation.

Q
Can this amp kit or any other 2 channel amp kit wire up a monoblock amplifier? (1 channel)

A
Yes

A
Yes. I used this particular kit to wire my monoblock amp to the deck and sub-woofer in my truck. The wiring came with instructions/hints for avoiding or minimizing crosstalk and noise from power. Worked like a champ.

Q
I have an MB Quart 500 watt and one 12" sub. Will this kit do the job?
allison  Sep 25, 2016

If you're only pushing 500 watts this kit should work just fine. If you ever upgrade to anything over 1000 watts I would recommend a 4 gauge wirring kit.
nathan  Sep 26, 2016

I got the kit almost 2 years ago and it's used to connect 500 w alpine amp and two 10" alpine subs . Works great haven't had any issues .
kostiantyn  Sep 26, 2016
A
Yes, without a doubt

Q
If I get this and then put a 40 amp fuse will it work? Also the amp I'm getting is only 200 watts rms, the specs say at least 250 watts rms can I pull it off?
taylor  Nov 27, 2015
1 answer
A
I wouldn't put a 40amp fuse for this wiring kit. It all depends on what you are trying to push. And again if your system is asking for atleast 250 I would atleast give it 250 to give you the sound and response you want. But 200 will work.

Q
I am comparing this with the Rockford Fosgate 8 guage wiring kit. I know this is goign to spark some passionate opinions, but is there really much of a difference between the two? Or is the extra $$ for the Rockford just for the name?

Looks like the difference is also the Fosgate kit has 3' longer rca versus the efx. and the ground wire is also 1' longer at 3' instead of 2'. I used the efx and mounted a sub in the trunk of a crown vic. I would have liked the extra length on those rcas and the ground also, but it was enough to get it done but if my box slide around my trunk from one side to the other, I would tear wire loose because there isn't enough slack. With the efx, I did have to pull the rca cable fairly tight as I routed it along the door trim so that I had the slack I wanted at the trunk. I said to myself that "they could've made this just a little longer." A crown vic has some decent distance from head unit to trunk. Anything longer and the extra 3' might be necessary.

This kit is a good deal, and includes some well thought out cabling. I really wouldn't waste too much money on brand-name wiring, since a connection is still a connection. All that matters is 1.) how much copper/aluminum is in the wire, and 2.) how well shielded and insulated that cable is. For expensive, name-brand cabling, you might be getter a little more metal for the advertised gauge, but for the extra you pay it's not really worth the investment. When we talk about power and ground cables, it's just insulation, not shielding, so if the gauge is up to par, buy the cheapest wires. When it comes to signal cabling, such as the RCAs in this kit, the shielding comes into play. And from what I can tell, the shielding is just fine. Don't waste your money on paying for a brand name, as this kit works just fine.

Oxygen free cable is oxygen free cable, no matter whose name is on it. My only comment is how big is your amp? I used this kit to go from the power dist. block to the amp. I ran O gauge from the battery to the pd block.

This is a nice kit just paying for the name
zachary  Nov 13, 2014

This one is better as it comes with more and a bigger gauge kit. Better if future plans on multi amps

Quality of wiring always makes a difference. But quality amps and head units always matters most. I have this kit for my Mustang, all Alpine equipment and it is beautiful sound.
