Best Hi Fi Woofer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Excellent deep low frequency. Delivers amazing punch and fills room perfectly when set on 5.1
With a Sonos PLAYBAR, the SUB can give your movie and TV soundtracks real presence (TV and PLAYBAR not included).
The Sonos SUB makes it easy to get incredibly compelling sound from your movies, TV shows, and music. Two force-canceling woofers positioned face-to-face in the cabinet deliver powerful, crystal-clear bass with minimal vibration. You can adjust the SUB to tailor the sound to your specific room with the free Sonos controller app for Apple® and Android™ devices. Use the SUB with a PLAYBAR to create a powerful home theater sound system. You can also use it with a PLAY:1, PLAY:3, PLAY:5, or CONNECT:AMP music player to add some extra bass to your music.
Just like the rest of the Sonos family, the Sonos SUB is a breeze to get up and running. Place the SUB in the room where you want more bass from your compatible Sonos component and press the button. The SUB connects to other Sonos players wirelessly, just like that. And because it doesn't need a wired connection to your speakers or the Sonos player, you can place the SUB just about anywhere in your room.

Excellent deep low frequency. Delivers amazing punch and fills room perfectly when set on 5.1
Love it! Totally adds to your Sonos system!
Got an open box sub, and it was in immaculate condition. Speaker sounds great too!
easy to set up and use.
Great all around sub. Sound is spectacular and the Sonos app controls everything. This sub is part of a 5.1 sonos using the play 1 as surround speakers.I use echo dot to control. The sonos app is a bit quirky and hard to nav but doable. Almost got the sonos system 5 years ago. Went with bose instead. Nothing against bose products but the sonos system sounds amazing. If I could give 6 stars I would.
Pros: The surround sound is so good, it will fool ya.
Cons: Sonos app need some work. Wish I bought these 5 years ago.
Love this Sonos subwoofer with a pair of 5s. Looks great. Sounds great. Strong. Solid. Perfect. Just be sure to immediately dig into the Sonos app to customize the bass level. The default was too low for my taste. After a quick adjustment, the walls now shake exactly as desired.
Cons: Nothing (ok, price)
Great sound. Well worth the price
Awesome sound!! You get what you pay for...
I bought this as part of a home theater system that includes a Playbar, a SUB and two PLAY: 1 surround speakers. The whole system sounds terrific. Setting up and tweaking the system are made easy by the SONOS app. Plus, stuff they didn't tell me: I can control my iTunes music library (Imported CDs) and streaming radio stations using the app. I have so much more flexibility than I did with a home theater system than was built around a tuner-amplifier and wired speakers. My only problem was in set up: because my router is on another floor and at the furthest part of the house, the WIFI signal was intermittent. I solved this problem by installing my neighbor's BRIDGE. The system has been flawless since.
Great addition to a Playbar and Surrounds, however the price like all Sonos products is quite high
Our Subwoofer is a Percussion Portal that is capable of delivering an unparalleled level of bottom. And when you require that extra Fullness, well, say not more. This Subwoofer is remarkable. It truly meets the benchmark.
Spendy, but not nearly as spendy as the subwoofer I bought in the late 1980s... And sounds better. Even after the old subwoofer was refoamed, tuned up and brought into the present. So I will shortly be back to one subwoofer, and it won't be old... Adds a nice clean bass to the system, noticeable when you should notice it and not when you shouldn't.
Pros: sounds great, works well, easy to set up
Cons: none really
Owned a lot of subs. This is the best. Great low end sound. It truly fills my large great room.
The 5+1 is a great sounding combo. All I had hoped for and easy as ever to set up. Enjoy the sound.
Pros: Ease of setup, sound quality
this is a great addition to my Sonos playbar
GREAT !! very functional and does it in style
I went back and forth on whether or not to get this sub to accompany my playbase. I am so glad I decided to add the sub. The bass is perfect for my living room. It adds just the right amount of bass to music, movies, and tv. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Pros: Small footprint. Great sound.
Superb match with the Sonos 5 speakers and soundbar
I recently received my order for the Sonos Playbar 5.1 Surround system. I really couldn't be happier with the performance! Setup of the entire system was a breeze. The Sonos App is a refinement that simplifies the entire process and also integrates nicely with your music streaming service provider. Everything you need to manage your entire system from start to finish is in one place. I was so impressed with the well thought out hardware / software integration. Whether listening to music or watching your favorite TV shows, this system sounds fantastic!
Added this piece to a surround sound group with a playbase and two play 5s. Fabulous sound. We have an open floor plan and cathedral ceilings. We went from the tv speaker to this. What an improvement. Definitely not too much for our room.
Pros: Very easy set up
Perfect service and product
Great product, easy to assemble. Great sound.
Really helps to round out my newly acquired Playbase.
Pros: Ease of Setup Sound Quality Build Quality (at 36 lbs. this thing is solid)
Just got them work with TV today, miso far they sound real good. I may add two more speakers shortly.
This piece was icing on the cake! I wanted a system for music in the house that was streamed from the Internet. I hadn't heard of Sonos before I called an advisor at Crutchfield. So, we talked about the options like DAC vs. Sonos and the Sonos app. I chose Sonos since the amplifier and network were established by the Sonos pieces. I purchased 2 Sonos 1 speakers, the Sonos SUB, and the Sonos Boost. Yes, expensive investment. So far, worth every penny of it. My conventional sound system was NAD and B&W loudspeakers. Frankly, I've lost enough hearing that being an audiophile wasn't much fun anymore. My hearing aids distort sound around 3000Hz or so, and it's just too hard to program a "natural" setting. That definitely entered the equation for choosing Sonos. Don't get me wrong ... nothing about the Sonos system is cheap or poor sounding. In fact, it sounds great! Best of all, I can now spread speaker throughout the house, have different Internet streams running several sets of speakers, and control it all by way of an app on my smartphone or computer. Awesome!!!
Pros: Great sound! System works well grouped together. Used the Boost to form another network that didn't require my home WiFi. Less interference on all counts.
Cons: Setup was more difficult than I had imagined. I started with the setup process via a smartphone app. Should have just downloaded the app for my Mac laptop and started there. Much simpler and straightforward.
Improves already great sound, easy integration
Not very impressed when I initially hooked it up. I couldn't hear much difference in my pair of Play 5s (Gen 2). Then I made slight (30%) adjustments to the EQ and Sub settings. That added the extra bass that was missing. You are not going to shake the earth with this Sub if you keep it to reasonable setting adjustments and volume. The Sonos sub does provide an extra sound dimension to the 5s. Is it worth it? It's probably not critical if you have a pair of 5s. Any other combos, yes.
Pros: Works great. Feel the bass.
Cons: Price Weight
Pros: I already have the play 5 but this is great.
Great product. Enjoy the sound. Very expensive cost.
Pros: Sound enhancement
Great sounding subwoofer that really rounds out and compliments the other Sonos speakers.
Pros: Super clear and deep bass. Coming from a powered subwoofer and large 3-way speakers, this sounds way more accurate and clear.
Cons: Just a minor thing, but was not obvious at first that the bass level can be adjusted under advanced settings in the Sonos app.
This sub has enhanced my Play 1's tremendously. Once I put the isolation feet on it to stop the vibration I got rich base diffused throughout the room. I really like this product.
Pros: can either stand it up or lay it on it's side
Cons: would be good if it came in a flat black finish instead of the high gloss
Wow what a difference! Purchased the Sonos Soundbar months ago as I didn't want to crank up the surround system for all of our tv viewing. The soundbar did exactly what I had hoped and was a huge improvement over the Panasonic plasma stock speakers. I decided to add the sub on a whim and have been extremely happy I did. The adjustments provided on the Sonos app allow me to cater each source appropriately with little effort. Listening to any type of music genre is also dramatically better. What a well thought out and well built audio enhancement for video viewing. So glad I made the purchase!
Pros: Rounds out the audio performance.
Cons: A little pricey, but well worth it.
Wow! A MUST- HAVE for serious audiophiles!
Pros: This really enhanced my fantastic Sonos system. A classical and jazz music fan, I wasn't prepared for the authentic sound of a symphonic bass drum that rattled my living room. Wow! The Sub is a must-have for an audiophile!
Cons: Pricey. But what the hey!
I purchased this with the soundbar and I'm glad I did. It adds additional depth to both music and for watching movies/tv. Setup was easier than expected and I'm glad I purchased the sub.
Love my new sub. It is an amazing addition to my Sonos sound.
The Sonos Sub pretty much completes my Sonos system. Whole-house music has been a lifelong dream, and with my seven speakers that has been accomplished. The Sonos Sub greatly enhances my television viewing, as it is grouped with two play 5s and the Sonos Playbar. Listening to music is like hearing it for the first time and I find myself listening to new genres I never appreciated before. The bass response of this speaker is remarkable.
Pros: No rattles. Quality feel. Steady sound.
You should definitely upgrade your Sonos system to include the subwoofer. It gives great depth to the sound.
Unbelievably deep bass. This thing is remarkable
Simply superb sound. Its amazing how sonos built these devices. No complaints at all. Couldn't get a better sound than this with a sound bar. First I purchased sonos playbar and ran with that for sometime and was not sure to take the sub or not. But wanted to see how the sound bar sounds with the sub. It was really great. I think without the base, soundbar has adjusted to made some changes to itself to deliver more base so the sound quality has deprecated. But once I added the Sub I can hear crystal clear sound. Not sure if the two individual speaker help how. Gotta try that though.
Great simple hook up
Was a bit apprehensive about ordering this sub due to the price and the fact that the actual speakers were on the smallish side. Not to worry! Bass performance is top-notch and the set-up is as easy as advertised. Very satisfied so far.
Pros: Strong, clean bass in a relatively small enclosure. Easy to set up and control with the Sonos app. Fit and finish is impressive.
Cons: Rather expensive.
Sounds great and really easy to install. Works great with sound bar and with the small Sonos speakers for surround sound
Excellent. Deep bass and very easy setup.
Awesome. I purchased the Sonos Playbar and hoped I wouldn't need to add the sub because of the price. The Playbar was great on it's own for TV but for music it sounded flat. I added the sub and WOW. I kept switching it on and off to test the difference and it really makes a big one. The sound is much deeper and richer and the vocals stand out more somehow. There is a major noticeable difference with movies too (especially with action sequences and musical accompaniment). It's simple to set up and the look is modern and sleek. The price is a little ridiculous in my opinion, but as long as this won't cause you any financial hardship, I highly recommend getting one.
If you are going Sonos for the TV, this is necessary. Only negative is it is way over the top expensive relative to other Sub's for other systems. Having said that, the setup is simple and the device looks great. Sleek and does not take up a lot of room. Once you get over the price, you won't be disappointed...
This Sub is incredible!, I paired with my sound bar and the quality makes me feel like I'm at a movie theater!
Pricey but Adds a nice rich bass sound to complement the sound bar
Pros: Nice bass sound
Hear the boom! Great complement to the playbar.
Very happy with this purchase. This Sonos Sub replaces a Polk Audio DSW PRO 600 which lasted for 2 years. Great sound, hope to get more than 2 years out of this unit. Great to have some bass back in the house.
Pros: Great sound...easy set-up
It's kind of hard to review a subwoofer on its own, but I can say this, when coupled with the soundbar, it makes the sound so much more realistic than soundbar alone. When playing music it definitely adds a depth that is not there with the playbar alone.
Pros: Great sound. Easy setup.
This is my second purchase of a Sonos SUB. Excellent sound and quality at any level! I purchased my first Sonos Sub for the bedroom (matched with the Sonos 1 speakers) and found that I couldn't live without a Sonos system my studio (went with the Sonos 3 speakers this time - bigger area). Is a third Sonos SUB and some Sonos speakers in my future? You betcha! Easy setup; just follow the directions.
This sub puts out some serious bass. It will handle anything you throw at it and it does not rattle at all like some cheap speakers. You will not go wrong with the Sonos subwoofer
Pros: Sound, easy set up
Cons: A bit pricy but worth it
Great product! You may have to go into settings and pull down the bass a little. At the mid-point it generates a lot of bass. Be sure, as directed, to setup the play bar first. It will find the sub as a plug and play. Too easy. I really like the set. High Sonos quality.
Pros: Great sound.
Great sound. Clear and consumes the room.
Love my product!
Worth every penny. Simple set-up. Out of the box set-up time less than 10 minutes ( including reading directions)! Great addition to surround sound. Never go wrong with SONOS. Gray Crutchfield service/delivery, as always.
Pros: Great sound Simple, simple set-up Looks great.
Cons: Little pricey (worth every penny)
great sound with the Sonos sound bar
Pros: easy setup
Get it with the sound bar; huge difference without it!
This is my third subwoofer. I have one with each soundbar. Best BASS ever. I listen to this all the time.
Pros: Best Bass ever. And love the shape of it.
Great Product! This base is very deep and rich. Its design is perfect for anyone in an apartment or roommate setting as the design of the sub doesn't vibrate at all compared to other subs. Its base is very powerful at full blast so a great compliment to any sound system.
Pros: Very little vibration. Very Deep Base Very Sleek Design
Cons: Very Expensive Sonos allows limited audio inputs.
Really turns the Soundbar into top notch sound. The Sonos automatic tuning makes setting up easy--no fiddling with volume or crossover.
Pros: Easy placement, easy setup, great results
Cons: Works only with Sonos network
It works just as we had hoped.
Pros: Quality product
Cons: So good it'll wake up the kids if we're not careful.
this is amazing . house shaking bass which is deep and solid. makes watching movie and listening to any kind of music to the next level. very pricy for what it is but since i am tied into the sonos eco system i will say that there is no better alternatives thayt I could find.
Pros: pretty deep solid bass
Cons: pricy if you turn it up it could shake down your house
Rich, deep smooth base sound. Compared it to the latest Bose and in my opinion, just beat out the Bose. Not taking any credit away from Bose; I am a Bose fan. But the sound was just a bit better that the Bose sub
Pros: Quick and easy setup. Deep rich bass sound
We have two play5's, one play3 and one play1. This was the perfect addition to our setup. we have a semi-open floor plan on the first floor and the bass adds the low tones that we were missing. Highly recommended to add this to your existing sonos setup. you wont be disappointed.
I really don't know where to begin. It's just that awesome. I've been looking at the sub and the playbar for a long time now after owning a Play 5 and a Play 3 for a few years now. I wish I had bought it sooner. As soon as you open the box you realize that there is something different about Sonos. The quality is just a notch above what you're used to and the packaging helps cement that notion. Upon removing it from the box you quickly realize that it truly is built better than expected. Setting up the Sub is about as simple as it gets. Plug it in, open the app and within minutes you're listening to music or TV. Simple. Whether it's being used to add bottom end to some music or your TV shows, it adds a dimension that the playbar can't do on its own. Clean, powerful bass. It's the perfect compliment to the Playbar.
Pros: Quality and sound.
Love the deep bass, easy plug & play hookup, all in all very happy with this purchase the one minor negative point is that the gloss black cabinet is a fingerprint magnet. I think a matte finish would be a better choice.
It's a balanced sub where form and function meet. I wish the bass were a bit more punchy or tight but it's by no means a flaw of any sort. Easy setup and adds tremendous sound to my sonos 5.1.
Pros: Easy setup, balanced, great depth
This was the last piece added to a setup that included 4 Play 5's. I really didn't think the sub would have that much to offer. I was wrong. I was able to retune the entire system, tweak the bass output and the difference in the way the system sounds is stunning.
Pros: Small Convenient Easy to install Impressive sound
Cons: Autotune feature does not work due to ambient noise so I had to manually tune with 4 other Play 5 speakers. It was not "difficult" but the manual eq options are not easy to find in the software. Oh, almost forgot - expensive.
Pros: Nice design, great sound, easy set up.
I bought the Sonos Sub and also a Sonos Playbar. Both were easy to set up and the sound is awesome. I highly recommend this product.
A powerful sub. It was an easy install, and sits handsomely near the media center. Shakes the room at times. It has added a richness to the sound we enjoy both for TV and for music.
Beautiful subwoofer. Easy and fun to install. Sounds awesome.
Pros: Easiest install ever. Fun to do.
This sub is all the power you will need in your home theater. The quality of the sound and base are more than enough to keep any movie enthusiast entertained.
Pros: Sound quality Wireless Powerful Sleek design
This sub is both good looking and butt kicking, it enhances normal tv programs really shows it's stuff with action movies. Great sub, kind of pricey.
Pros: Great sound and appearance.
The Sonos sub is a great product as I've found all Sonos products to be. It offers great base associated with the Sonos soundbar. Great product. As always, Crutchfield delivers as promised.
Pros: Ease of hookup. Great Base
Did a lot of research on surround sound systems and read many positive things about Sonos.
Pros: Quality Sound, Easy Set up,
Super easy to set up the entire system and the bass sounds are awesome
Pros: easy to use and set up
Excellent sounding sub with cool design. Seamlessly paired with Playbar. Unfortunately, I had problems with the Playbar so didn't keep the sub.
Pros: Great sound, cool design, easy to pair with Playbar.
Cons: I had problems with Playbar so didn't get to keep the sub.
Had this two weeks now and I am very pleased. I bought the sound bar a few days prior to buying this because others said the sound bar was enough. I didn't feel it was because I play music and watch TV. This was what I needed. It took two minutes perhaps less to set it up. The App make it easy. Now I want more Sonos speakers in my apartment.
Pros: Build quality, packaging, design, set up
Cons: Cant find any, I hope the finish lasts because its piano lacquer finish.
Really adds a lot of depth to the music and theater setup.
Add this to a SONOS SOUNDBAR and you won't regret it. Paired up instantly and has worked flawlessly for two weeks now with zero issues.
Pros: Easy to setup Sounds great
Cons: Absolutely ZERO cons.
Quite disappointed. Sonos 5s are one of the best wireless speaker I have ever heard. Very satisfied with them. Adding a sub is a waste of money. It made no difference. I just received mine...had to contact sonos technical dpt as at Cruthfield tech support were unable to help Me. I was helped by sonos to set it up. At the end a little better bass sound with some specific types of music. Nothing else. Better to invest the money in an additional sonos 5 second generation.
Cons: Everything else.
Sub sounds surprisingly good. Unfortunately with the router I have from UVerse, it will not connect wirelessly with my Soundbar. I wish Sonos would figure this out as running a wire to my soundbar defeats the purpose of what originally attracted me to Sonos.
Pros: Looks good, sounds good, easy connectivity (if you have a compatible router).
Cons: Pricey, not compatible with all home routers.
We are very pleased with the Sonos soundbar. Sound is crisp and clear.
Pros: easy to install
I am using this Sub with two paired (L/R) PLAY:3 speakers. The sub really fills out the lower end of the frequency spectrum and this is especially noticeable as volume increases. If you don't have room for the new PLAY:5, adding a Sub to PLAY:3s will definitely get you a complete sonic experience.
Pros: Ease of setup, tight bass, no rattles
Even though this is a beautiful subwoofer, you could put it any where in the room, the spot that worked for us was up high and out of sight. It worked great to lay it on it's side using the foot pads supplied. Its sounds Great!
Pros: Heavy and substantial
Cons: Heavy and substantial
Paired with a Sonos Sound Bar (obviously) and couldn't be happier with the setup. Great sound, great design, and absolutely superb.
Pros: Sound Adjustments Design
It's amazing the difference the sub does in our open living room/kitchen and dinning area. We have Klipsh ceiling speakers and to get decent song we had to turn up the volume higher then I really want to. With the Sub that issue was resolved and now we have even at low volume full sound.
Pros: Great sound, easy set up.
Cons: Definitely a heavy piece and slightly on the high side cost wise. Wish it was $499, then I would by one more.
I wasn't sure that a sub that is so compact could sound so good. The missing piece to my Sonos system.
Pros: Great sound Compact size
Cons: High price
A mark of an excellent sub is hearing the bass it without knowing exactly its coming from. You can barely tell from which direction the bass is coming from with this unit. Further, if you get real close to it, the bass becomes less noticeable. Somehow they figured out how to inundate your living room with glorious bass without over-thumping the area where the sub is placed. Beautifully Done!
Pros: Clear inundating bass, sleek looking
It does not have unnecessary bass the entire show you are watching. Just clean perfect sounding bass which the producers meant to have.
Pros: Looks cool, sounds great and pairs well with the playbar.
I don't have the most discerning ear but I am into a good sound system that is easy to use and doesn't break my budget. Sonos covers all the bases for me. I have previously purchased two of their 3 series speakers and a sound bar. I was using the speakers for music and the sound bar for the TV. While the sound bar worked well with the TV, I was looking (listening) for a richer, deeper sound; and the Sonos Sub met my desire. Set up was quick and far easier than expected. I, especially liked the sub setup routine allowing me to set the bass response. I've even found that grouping the speakers, and the sound bar/sub was very simple and provides, for me, a full spectrum sound. Though it's not as wireless as my wife would want (each unit has a power chord) it's easy to hid the chords.
Pros: Ease of set up Rich sound Easy to couple with other Sonos components
Cons: Couldn't buy the entire system at once due to price.
Simple setup with amazing results. It took 1-2 minutes to setup. I even used it outside for a party (temporary setup) and I was blown away by the quality and ability to fill the area with rich sound. Easy to move around if needed.
Pros: All good
Cons: I would love to have a weather-proof version for outside but this is a dream and was clearly not the intent.
Takes care of the bass for music and the thumping for movies. Nice piece of equipment.
Pros: Proficient. Does its job and dresses smartly.
Sub is excellent, super easy to configure, sounds great for its size.
Pros: Easy to configure
Sub sounds awesome. Deep bass as Sonos describes.
Easy to pair to the system and sounds good. I like it.
Pros: Versatility and easy of installation
This sub is everything I expected and more. Beautiful design and build, deeply satisfying, tight, clean bass, and ordering through crutchfield is always a pleasure.
Amazing when paired with a playbar
Holy cow this thing thumps. Feel like high school days with two 12" subs in a band pass box rocking in the truck of my car! Being able to lower the bass with the EQ is the best. I had to turn it down or the neighbors would think I opened up a strip club at the house.
Pros: All the boom you want
The Sub is easy to connect and looks and sounds great!
Pros: Looks sharp great design, sounds great.
Cons: a bit pricy.
Very pleased with complete system only downfall is the price.
Pros: Enhances movies and tv shows Makes big difference on music It's wireless
Easy to set up and gives a really nice bass output.
Pros: easy set up
Bought this sub after purchasing two play 3's. It made a huge different for me. Glad I made the purchase even though the price was a little steep. Planning on purchasing the playbar to create a 5.1 to replace my current Harmon Kardon SB30.
Pros: Very powerful. It added a lot just to the play 3's. I would imagine you wouldn't want to buy the playbar without the sub.
Cons: A little expensive but worth it with what you can do with the Sonos system as a whole.
I had only the Sonos Soundbar, which sounded quite good. But, when I added the SUB, it was amazing. Makes a world of difference.
Pros: Very good addition to overall sound and listening experience. Really will thump your chest when the artist calls for it. But, is not overbearing when the artists did not intend an accentuated bass part.
Cons: None other than the fact that i would have bought it a lot sooner if it was less expensive. But it is worth what I paid.
This item was purchased with the Sonos PlayvBar and performed as expected. It's a little pricey but compared to Bose's similar system the price is very competitive.
Pros: Great sound. Easy to setup.
Cons: A little pricey.
I purchased this to go with the PlayBar, but ended up returning the Sub. It was overpowering the 16 x 16 room. When I turned the Sub down to prevent ear fatigue, there were low parts of the music I felt were missing compared to listening to the Playbar alone. If I had a larger room, I might have kept it. It did definitely help with music on the two Play 1's I have, but I can't justify the high cost to pair with two small speakers. The Play 1's sound really, really good as they are, especially in stereo mode. Watching TV, I only noticed it during movies. It was not used much during normal broadcasts like talk shows, sports, etc. Which is really what I expected. Warning, Sub gets loud. It gets loud enough that it makes me think my house will start falling apart similar to when you hear a rattling and buzzing car with a huge bass thumping down the road.
Pros: Really helps the low notes of the music when paired with Play 1's.
Cons: felt it overpowered the Playbar Bass gets very deep, I noticed my ears would be sore after listening to music (some people my consider this a plus) Price
Sounds great and was super easy to hook up! Have had no problems as of yet with anything, only negative I would say is the price...
Pros: Great sound!
Cons: A little pricey.
Great with the stero as with home theater for the TV it rarely emits any sound but I really do like it with the stero.
Pros: great sound and easy to set-up
Cons: price for actual contribution to Tv sound bar
Good quality product.
Pros: Great sound for downloaded movies and music.
Cons: Does an ok job with tv programming.
The soundbar alone sounds ok but the subwoofer totally makes it a fuller more pleasing sound.
Pros: Better overall sound to Sonos system
Great sounding sub and works well with my Sonos system. Clean, tight base.
Pros: Great product. Easy set up.
I can't say enough about Sonos and the incredible difference it has made to my music and TV listening experience. I purchased the Sub along with the Playbar after having tested their sound capability at a local high fidelity store. The Sub adds nice deep and rich tones and rounds out your listening experience. If you don't have the means to purchase both at the same time, the Playbar is quite remarkable. However, save up and add the Sub soon because it does make a difference.
Pros: Nice rich and deep bass tones, ease of adding to your Sonos network, aesthetically appealing in black piano finish.
Cons: pricey but worth the price.
I was a bit hesitant to order another product after having already bought a Playbar, but I say if you're going to invest in Sonos, do it right. The Playbar by itself was a very nice product, clear sound, but the sub really brings out the boom. It's not just hammering volume, but really complements it perfectly. Lovely for movies, music, and sports. And I find that since I got the Sonos I play to the music on my Iphone much more wirelessly through Sonos. Great item.
Pros: a bit pricey.
Cons: unsurpassed sound. Minimal wires, wife is happy.
No words to describe how great the sound quality is
Pros: amazing sound quality
Cons: Wish it would come with remote. Cumbersome to connect through wi-fi. Basic computer connection knowledge helps.
This sub is fantastic! It blends perfectly with the Playbar and Play 1 surrounds, and it rocks the house!!
This is the best sub out there at the moment
The SONOS SUB picks up even the softest bass so that you're listening to the full sound - it's amazing. You don't have make the walls and windows vibrate, but the SUB is quite capable if that's your pleasure. The controls allow you to adjust the blend of bass exactly the way you like it.
Pros: The overall design and audio engineering on this product is outstanding; well worth the price.
Expensive but worth it. Really makes my Play 5 and Play 3 come alive. Sounds great for both music and movies.
Pros: High quality.
I have the Sonos sound bar and 2 Play Ones. overall sound was OK. when I added the Sonos Sub, it made such a huge difference. The sound really pops.
Pros: great design and pleasing to the eye/
Cons: Perhaps price but it is really well built.
I like the SONOS system, deep bass but not overwhelming, clear and great with movies and music
Pros: Great wuality
Cons: Price, but I guess you get what you pay for. If the system were not so expensive I would give it 5 stars.
Coupled this sub with the Sonos Playbar. The combination sounds fantastic. The sub is not too large, allowing you to fit it in discreet locations. While small, I actually have the EQ set to half power as to not disturb my neighbors. This sub has plenty of power and is more than capable of filling a 1000 sq ft area where it's located. Highly recommend using with Sonos Playbar.
Pros: very well made
Great sub - have it paired with the SONOS playbar matched to my new SHARP AQUOS 60 inch. It works really well.
Pros: well balanced bass; easy setup. Looks great.
Cons: a bit pricey.
expensiv equipment but does not have too many option. I do not like it and may return it.
This sub woofer adds nicely to my TV sound. Doesn't make much difference with TV shows, but works well for movies.
Last element in my home theater set up and what a difference it makes! Worth every penny. Plug and play.
Pros: Incredibly full sound and simple to add on to the system.
Cons: None to date.
Gives extra quality to sonos sound bar.
Pros: Excellent sound quality
Cons: Size and price
When I received this sub I was pleasantly surprised how havy it was and how very well made this sub. I like the design and most important how substantial this sub has improve the sound of my sonos system. As any sonos component it was breeze to install and use, 5 star as usual with sonos. I would definitely recommend to any one who is serous about music sound and want to create truly amazing music experience. This sub is not cheap but as always you get what you paid for and I have no regrets.
Pros: Great sound beutifull design very well made
Cons: I couldn't find one
I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to buy a subwoofer for $700 but WOW, am I glad I did! The sound bar itself is in a class of its own and with the sub added it is in a class of its own. I also have multiple Play 3's and music sounds great paired with this sub.
Pros: Sounds Great! Versatile
Cons: None that I can find.
Have a Playbar for my TV in a NYC apartment. TV speakers needed help - while the playbar adds some depth to the sound, it is hindered by lack of bass. The Sonos Sub cures this in spades. Its big (3 shoeboxes) and heavy but gives off no vibration. Helps with TV sound, Movie sound and music through the playbar. My only reservation is that the playbar itself needs this in order to do the proper job. So, the Sub is good - the playbar is OK
Pros: Attractive; no vibration, very good sonicaly
Cons: None with the sub; some with the Playbar. As noted above, this is pretty necessary if you have the playbar and its a good piece of equipment.
The Sonos SUB really opens up the sound of the sound bar. Fantastic bass clarity and realistic sound.
Pros: Easy to install Accurate and clear sound reproduction
Received the SUB about a week after receiving the soundbar and two Play 1s. This delay led to an instant appreciation of the bass enhancement provided by the unit. It was (and is) spectacular! The "tuning" of the output was extremely easy and allowed me to adjust the bass level for the room and my ear. Until I installed the SUB I was not convinced that I "needed" it. The bass from the soundbar and the Play 1s was not bad. However, I have been completely won over to the benefits of the SUB. It really rounds out the whole sound system. When this system was presented to me by the sales representative I was blown away by the concept of the WiFi design. However, the cost of SONOS systems was almost prohibitive. The versatility of the design won out and I decided to try out the system. I am extremely happy with my decision and can't wait to add more components.
Pros: Easy setup. Great booming bass.
This product is awesome. Gives great addition in sounds to the sonos speakers.
This sub definitely enhanced my sonos speaker system. I have an open floor plan and I can sense the bass from the sub throughout my kitchen and family room. I'm glad I ordered a week after I bought the playbar; as oppose to waiting a longer time. You won't regret it. I like the fact that you can control the bass for the sub through the app, as oppose to going to the sub and messing with a turn knob.
Pros: Great sound, from low to high...truly enhances music-listening and tv-watching experience, awesome that it can be placed anywhere (as long as power is connected to it)
Recently added this sub to my Playbar, and it really enhances the sound quality of the Playbar. Full sound in a very large room
Pros: Room Filling Sound
I was happy with the PLAYBAR, but had read additional reviews on the SUB and decided to give it a try. The result was a much enhanced audio experience; the SUB is not overwhelming (and is configurable anyway) but really brings out the low end in movies, TV, and music.
It will give your music a richer, fuller sound. So easy to set up as all of the sonus products have been. Sub looks great in LR.
Recently removed my home theater consisting of Definitive Technology speakers and an Epik Empire Subwoofer. Decided to go the Sonos route. Purchased a Sonos Amp and Play 5, was extremely happy, so I purchased the Playbar and Sub. I tried different positions and ended up placing the sub under my chair, with no noticeable sound difference. I'm blown away by the sound quality of the playbar and sub. This was just what I needed.
Pros: Small, hidden, great bass even in a large room
After having the Sonos sound bar for about four months, I decided to add the Sub. The Sonos Sound Rar was the third such device I had attached to my TV, and it was far better than the other brand names. The Sub has improved the clarity of the sound from the sound bar, and was worth adding
Pros: Much better sound from the TV and the Internet radio broadcasted over the Sonos system.
Cons: It's expensive, really speaking.
Pros: So easy to set up. Sounds awesome
Cons: bit spendy
The SUB is a must purchase if you buy the Sonos Playbar. Will rock the house!
Pros: Great companion to the Sonos Playbar.
Cons: Absolutely none!
Sub adds a nice richness to the pair of Play 5's I have in the living room. Easy set-up, as you would expect from Sonos.
I added the Sonos Sub in a room where I have two Play:5s paired together. While I have always enjoyed my paired Play:5s, adding the Sub really seemed to improve the performance and sound from the Play:5s. I am truly enjoying the Sonos listening experience but now even more with the Sub.
Pros: Improved listening experience Easy set-up
This system is easy to set up and use. Ziggy in Customer Service did great. Expensive, but the neighbors down the street get to enjoy my play list. Halloween in the neighborhood will not be the same this year! I matched this with a pair of Definitive AW6500. Loud, Clear and Easy to set up and use. Worth the $$$!
Pros: Loud and Clear. Easy to use and set up.
Cons: Wireless Sub is expensive, a pain to lug in and out of the house onto the deck. Have to reconnect every time to the unit. But once hooked up? WOW!!!!!
Sonus Sub 1: The Sonus Sub 1 is a wireless powered subwoofer, designed to add deep bass (down to 25 Hz) to your Sonos listening experience. The Sub works with any amplified Sonos player, including the Play:1, Play:3, & Play:5, plus the Sonos Connect:Amp & Playbar (all sold separately). It does not work with un-amplified Sonos players, such as the Connect (ZP90).
Woofer & Amplifier Design: The Sonus Sub 1 features two force-canceling speakers (3" x 6" race-track shaped drivers) positioned face-to-face to provide deep, rich bass with no resonance from the cabinet. The speakers are powered by two Class-D digital amplifiers, perfectly tuned to match the speakers. The speakers are mounted into a unique cabinet that features an acoustic slot and dual acoustic ports that encircle the enclosure to enhance the Sub's performance.
Wireless Connection: The Sonus Sub 1 can be associated with any amplified Sonos powered speaker or the Sonos Playbar. It Works on your home WiFi network with any 802.11b/g, 2.4GHz broadcast capable router. It also works on SonosNet, a secure AES encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network dedicated exclusively for your Sonos system to reduce WiFi interference.
Setup: Once you have positioned the Sub in the room, you can press the Join button on the side of the Sub in order for the system to recognize it. The system automatically adjusts the audio settings to perfectly balance the Sub and the paired Sonos component for best performance. All of the filter settings, active equalization, and time alignment are done digitally through a state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processor (DSP). During setup, you will be prompted, through the Sonos Controller software, to set the subwoofer's level and phase. In some cases, you will be prompted to select the size of the stereo speakers (compact, bookshelf/ceiling, or floor) connected to the amplified player. If you move the Sub to another room, you can easily reconfigure the audio and room association settings.
Note: Make sure all of your Sonos components have the latest software update installed.
Ethernet & AC Power: The Sub has only two connections, both located on the bottom of the enclosure: the power cord connection, and a single Ethernet port (RJ-45) for connecting the Sub to a wired home network.
Placement: Out of the box, the Sonus Sub 1 is designed to stand upright on the integrated rubber feet. You can also lay the sub horizontally on its side, if desired. Four self-adhesive felt feet are provided, if you choose to mount the Sub on its side. A guide for placing the felt feet on the Sub is included.
Home Network Requirements: To access Internet music services, Internet radio, and any digital music stored on your computer or Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device, your home network must meet the following requirements:
Note: Although Sonos is compatible with most networking equipment, some network devices are incompatible. Usually when networking hardware does not work with Sonos, it's because it lacks support for the network protocols that Sonos uses to operate, like UPnP, STP, and SMB/CIFS. Click here for a list of networking equipment that is incompatible with Sonos; be aware that the majority of this list is made up of older networking equipment, but may still exist as part of a home network.
